I remember when this came out back in 1986-87. I had just broken up with my soon-to-be-ex wife. I was half a paycheck away from being homeless and I listened to this song. I grew up in Los Angeles and cruised Whittier blvd in East LA many nights. It made me laugh and helped me through. I’m 61 now, retired, living a very good life with my love of 35 years. Hearing this song again and seeing this video makes me laugh and almost cry.

it's important to tell people that it's not possible to be born in countries. the united states declaration of independence said that nobody is born in countries: all people all born in nature, with equality and freedom. and we use labels like the united states to protect that natural freedom. saying you are born in country or state is a method of birth discrimination and of forcing nationality onto people based on your perception of their birth. not enough people even realize that anymore.

I would've never imagined that the 60s, the 70s, and the 80s would be the last of the good old days. Hell, I'm 79. I remember all of this and thanks to KZbin it's all coming back. Now I can see what's happening. Something took the FUN out of fundamentals. When you have a soul no matter what you never stop having fun and joyful memories. Something sucked the soul out of us. We lost the FUN.

I love the song, I was born in Burbank but grew up in cental and east LA. It looked just like the video. (Reality check - I had to fight gangs on my way to school and a running fight my way home, every day starting with 4th grade. Every couple blocks was another gang. They taught me to box by example, I took it on the chin a few hundred times :).... My blue eyes made me very popular lol. FYI At first everybody in LA spoke only English. All the Spanish speakers are later arriving immigrants, starting late mid/70's when President Carter opened up mass immigration, by executive action. ( with no disscussion with American people or involvement of Congress). He was President and did whatever he wanted. Carter employed lots of farmworkers. That was when all our homeless first showed up, out of work American farm workers looking for jobs in the cities. You don't see any homeless in LA, in the video. Now there are 5 Zillion.

I've been aware of this song for a long… _long…_ time. For years, I've even teasingly _sung_ the title and sting of this song _exactly_ like it was a parody of "Born in the USA." _However._ I never… ever… actually knew this was a Cheech Marin song. And, by god, now that I know… I will _never_ forget. _Odelay~!_ Also, random Elvira for the win! ❤️

Yes, some Hispanics attend night school because most work during the day... The only reason why some receive a "B" is because the teacher is harder on those students, they feel that Hispanics should automatically know Spanish and the rest of non-hispanics get a break which makes it unfair!...BTW, I'm glad and proud that Hispanics attend night school, there's nothing wrong with getting an education while working!

A lot of people replying to this comment but hurt and offended, obviously have no idea about Cheech and Chong and their material! If you were offended by him saying Mexican Americans attend night school and take Spanish and get a B, you've never seen Cheech and Chong Still Smokin or any of their skits! Yet you'll turn around and claim to be a big fan! That is a direct quote from Cheech Marin in one of his songs in Still Smokin, "Mexican Americans go to night school and take Spanish and get a B". Spanish people coming on here getting mad at the comment, and don't even know it's a direct and very famous song line from a guy who they all claim to be one of their Heroes! 😂
