One of the most respected and loved leaders of the exile community. I have seen him from my childhood in Mussoorie where he went to school as well. This was a very frank talk with Tenzin Dekyi who had some good questions. It covered a long time of service to HH The Dalai Lama and the exile Government. His generation was the GOLDEN GENERATION OF CIVIL SERVANTS who played no regional politics but only about the fate of Tibet as a nation in exile. སྐོུ་Tashi Wangdu La is not only dedicated but is an able leader and administrator. He has the integrity and the dedication. It was very tragic he lost his dear wife Dekyi la in the prime of her life! I also saw her often working for Mrs Taring at the Tibetan Homes Foundation Office! She was a tall woman like Tashi Wangdu la himself. I don’t agree on one point about Tashi Wangdu la’s assessment of the collapse of the CCP and the disintegration of China. His idea that the Han chauvinists would prevent it from disintegration is over optimistic. The Chinese have 500 years of perpetual war among themselves and since most of the people other than the Han have been forcibly observed and assimilated, there is historical grievances that will surface when the power at the centre is compromised. We saw this in Yugoslavia with different ethnic groups carrying pogroms. Besides, the Taiwanese people are Han origin as well as the Hong Kongers. Both Taiwan and Hong Kong want separation from China even though majority of the population are Han origin. Tibet has no future with communist China or any other China. It will be impossible for the Tibetan religion, culture, language and identity to survive under China of any denomination. The Manchus ruled China but today, despite their effort to retain their language and identity, THEY HAVE BEEN OBLITERATED BY THE HAN CULTURE AND IDENTITY. THE FATE OF TIBET WILL BE THE SAME IF TIBET REMAINS WITH CHINA!
