This is the first time I have listened to Borodin in earnest and I have adored every piece I have heard so far. While he sounds quite traditional, all of his music seems exquisite. I am glad I have discovered this. Thank you.

I’m so glad, so many are discovering Borodin’s piano music, most of which was composed in style, similar to music of his peers: Rimsky-Korsakov, Mussorgsky, Kui, Balakirev- The Mighty group ( Могучая кучка). It’s undeniably Russian! The image in this video is Borodin bust with gold mosaics of his music to Prince Igor- the memorial on his grave in St Petersburg, right next to Tchaikovsky. Growing up in StPete, I used to visit both and lay flowers on their birthdays.

I love his music. Borodin was born in Saint Petersburg as an illegitimate son of a 62-year-old Georgian nobleman, Luka Stepanovich Gedevanishvili, and a married 25-year-old Russian woman, Evdokia Konstantinovna Antonova.

@irakliareshidze95 жыл бұрын
@@russian_classic Actually, Luka and Stephan are very popular names in Georgia (and it always was). As Georgians are christians, Gospel names are very popular. I am sure that you know, ovich is suffix among russians, that describes "Son of someone (for example: Stephan)". So don't be sarcastic please! (I mean ")" ). There are many "quite unusual" facts apart than name of Borodin. We can all agree on origins of this composer. It is a different matter which Musical school we belong him to.

El apellido Gedevanishvili, como todos los terminados en shvili y todos los terminados en adsse (ss vale por s sonora) son típicamente georgianos.

At the University Level the many many many hours of my study time was accented by twenty or thirty long play vinyl records of the renown and and outstanding composers, conductors and performers. Set on automatic in those days the turntable dropped record after record onto the platter thus surrounding me in the transporting sounds created by the truly great musical masters. Borodin was among them and thankfully is not an unknown to me. Thankfully likewise is the availability of so many luscious works on youTube uploaded by altruistic esthetes akin to myself. To these many people I express my gratitude and continue to enjoy the fruits of their efforts. Bravo and thank you. bjf/jamIII

I had also never heard Borodin's play the piano although I'm sure he didn't know how to play the piano, how is it possible to create so well? He reminded me of Mussorgsky, I know they were very close friends and Mussorgsky admired him a lot. The tones are very similar, it feels like I'm listening to Mussrorgsky.

You are right about his music. Borodin belonged to the rebellious group of Russian composers the Mighty group, that rebelled against dominance of Italian and German music in Russia. They were Mussorgsky, Borodin, Rimsky- Korsakov, Cui and Balakirev. Their music is purely Russian! As for his musical education, most of Upper and middle classes children received extensive well- rounded education at home in languages, music, literature and etiquette. Borodin became a renowned professor of Chemistry, who had many innovations and laws, named after him. His love for composing was secondary! His hobby

Masters give us beautiful music, like this classic. Is there any way to be safe? There is God's way. By faith to believe: - Isaiah chapter 7: verse 14; Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign; Behold, a virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call his name Emmanuel. (Hebrew is meant: God מָּנוּאֵל, "God is with us," in human flesh, like a man, but without sin) - John 3: 16 For God loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 17 God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world; but the world through Him can be saved. - “All have sinned and lack the glory of God.” Romans chapter 3: verse 23 - "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans chapter 6: verse 23 - “I am the way, the truth and the life: no one comes to the Father but by me.” John 14: 6 - “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and he was buried, and on the third day he rose up again according to the Scriptures” 1 Cor. 15: 3-4 - “In whom we have atonement through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the richness of his grace”; Ephesians. 1: 7 - Romans 10: 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 13 For whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. - "Therefore, since we were justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 5: 1 - Salvation, forgiveness of sins is available to anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

I listen to classical piano on a daily basis, piano is my absolute favorite, but some of these pieces are just repetitive and annoying as if he, Borodin, was running out of patience and just rushed through it. Maybe he had a hot date or something, who knows, but towards the end (after the 55 minute-mark or so) I just couldn't take it anymore. Anyhow, onwards and upwards.:):):)

Nothing personal but I hope in the future you can imagine yourself as a piano composer and truly imagine what it takes to write this sort of music.
@matthiash67644 жыл бұрын
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chopsticks_(waltz) Check out the first paragraph, it sounds repetitive because they are all only variations based on the same piece. I don't think they were thought to be performed one after the other. They are made for a nine year-old to play the repeating top line and a good pianist to play the accompaniment.
