Gurdjieff And De Hartmann - Songs of Sayyids and Dervishes

This musical piece from the great initiated George Ivanovich Gurdjieff and Thomas de Hartman is a must.
A work of research not yet published in Brazil, the trio Artur Andrés, Regina Amaral e Mauro Rodrigues (piano and flutes) shows that it is possible to use music in order to open spaces in culture obstacles between ocident and orient.
Sayids' and Dervishes' music is an opportunity for us to get in touch with the same atmosphere found in sacred rituals and dance, to which this music is destined for.

This music was not composed by Gurdjieff. He had gathered these music pieces he had heard on his trips through other countries, and he played it for Thomas De Hartmann who was a pianist and who transcribed it into the music you hear here.

Amazon has some but whoo they are pricey. 500 bucks and more by this original musicologist. If I had it that way I'd buy every one of them they are that good. My friend died last night in the ally way where slept. Yet, as I was told the news by his brother, I was listening to this beautiful music having just discovered it this very morning. How ironic because he hated me talking about or even mentioning the name Gurdjieff! I liked to force his ideas on my friend every chance I got knowing that Gurdjieff ideas trump all other or most other known (to me) authors: the half baked ideas of my friend's. Sometimes, on the phone, it would just put him to sleep, as I'm sure a good reading of Beelzebub's would do to many, I droned on and on on various aspects that I found interesting. It is really no wonder that I manage to push everyone away from reading Mr. G. They haven't the time but "death hides behind a period in a sentence." Don Juan. Mr. G says that he practiced the last hour of life, at one time in his life, for 8 hours a day! I can hardly even approach the subject with myself let alone practice it. It is shocking even to think of it.

What an awesome thing you just said and it's true. I've only JUST begun to look at Gurdjieff's life due to studying Dan Winter and I am in shock how much I have to do, to get anywhere NEAR his early life experiences. I am so Western I shocked myself into stone! Anyway I just wanted you to know Christian that his work is beginning to resonate with even the truly 'western' among us. The inner Heart calls to everyone at this time and Gurdjieff is a great man to study as we re open our shut down hearts.
