Bortnikoff Tabac Dore (2021) Review

I bought a full bottle few weeks ago. I love it so much. So resinous, balsamic, so thick. I also smell something boozy. This is my favourite tobacco but this is so expensive I will keep it for special occasions.

I’ve commented on this video 7 months ago but now I’m back… as a proud owner of a full bottle😁 . So my bottle has “barbed wire” cap so that’s 2nd gen and listening you talk about your sample I think there is hardly any difference although I would like to smell 1st gen just to compare. I also got samples of most of his ouds and some new stuff (Lao, Mysterious, Maximus, Monarch, Loukoum, Sinharaja, Triad, Oud Cologne, Sayat Nova, Rich, Marrakesh and Amber Cologne), I will test them on my skin in the next days but off the cap currently Monarch, Maximus and Oud Cologne smell the best (in that order) and Lao Oud omg.. I think I’m not yet ready for that amount of animalics😂 btw I don’t know if the samples are current gen or old gen (Roja style cap or wooden cap). Thank you for telling and teaching us about houses like Bortnikoff that deserve to be heard and I’m looking foward for you to get your nose on new stuff from Bortnikoff like Rich and Marrakesh. P.S. Agree with everything you said here! My only issue with it is how freakin’ dark it is! A spray on the neck looks like spray-on tan application gone terribly wrong! 😅 Would have to keep it under the clothes and certainly only dark clothes for that matter! It’s the only thing that’s put it further down the purchase priority list. But as a reference tobacco to enjoy at home it would be fantastic!

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts! I just sampled this one. While smelling this fragrance i imagine my self sitting in a big leather seat inside a cigar store while enjoying a glass of rum. I agree on the wet wood smell, which is i guess the oud? Also get some ceder. It is beautiful though. Cheers!

Cheers Rams I have and tried a sample of this and was very impressed,but since I got Oud Balsom now I think I have to pass on a bottle but yes it’s a more punchy Tobacco Oud than Oud Balsom,Thai Oud simply doesn’t have The punching power of the other Ouds to be honest cheers appreciate this review my man 🙏✌️👍

I really liked Oud Balsam IF Tabac Doré didn't exist ... but to release that after a few years after Tabac Doré🤷🏻‍♂️ I just expected more ....but I ended up really loving Oud de Grande

Seriously considering blind buying full bottle of Tabac Dore in the near future alongside samples of all of his ouds. I’ve found it on one EU website that seems legit and I’m gonna pull the trigger as soon as I’m able to save up some money. Currently my top Tobacco frag is Opus XIV: Royal Tobacco. Watching and listening you talk about Bortnikoff frags gets me more and more hooked to all things Bortnikoff

Hi if it’s Ecuacion Natural from Malaga they are a very good trustworthy company, I have bought several Bortnikoff bottles from them among several other houses, they give 1 ml samples of whatever you want from any of their products l definitely recommend them 🙏✌️👍

You and I are on the same wavelength. Two random frags I wore that right after I wore them you did videos on are Gucci Guilty Absolute and Tabac Dore (wore it all weekend). I had not worn either in at least a year and shortly thereafter, you made videos. Strange coincidence. I just found a bottle of Histories De Parfums L'Olympia Music Hall. If you do a video on that random fragrance I'm going to lose my shit 😂

Is there some difference between attar and perfume version of tabac dore? I blind bought tabac dore in attar version, since the review they are somehow similar with oud balsam and i really like oud balsam.

It reminded me of being in cygar manufacture in Dominican Republic and rolling my own, those still wet tobacco leaves with fruit and chocolate and vanilla aromas. I find this dry and a bit spoiled (in a good way) fruit smell. Wore once and feel like there is much more to it to explore

By the time I have sampled oud balsam, I was an owner of tabac dore for about a year. Needless to say it took me 0.05s to make the connection between the two. Fear stoke my heart, because even tho oud balsam was a bottle for a friend, Oud de grand next to it was for myself :D I thought if that stuff is just l'huere exquise in a different bottle I swear to god.. Thankfully it was not. Oud de grand is amazing. Oud balsam is not. Well.. it is not if you have tried tabac dore. I see the sadness in you eyes when talking about possible reformulations on Bortnikoff 30:55. Like you are announcing a terminal illness :D It brings sadness to my heart too. Bortnikoff was the brand that brought me in to artisinal world of fragrance. And if nothing changes it seems that out of the two giants it has caught the terminal illness of going main stream first. Areej tried with his indian attar disaster, but thankfully at least for now it seems he has learned his lesson. I just hope it is not too late for Bortnikoff too. (Those new "screw-you" caps are are ugly af too :D)
