The johgun is gonna be the counter to Kawaki. We already saw how Boruto(before he ever had karma) ran at Momo with his clones and then slapped Momos arms away he had the eye active. Definitely something like the sharingan, but gonna be a lot more op. Either that or it just has the same level of the effects the sharingan has, but has tons of other things it can do. For example, what if it has a chakra mode like the Tensagan.

Think this Rasengan is paying homage to Neji. Boruto never showed signs of activating the byakugan, but is using the Rasengan to replicate the palms rotation using wind and chakra manipulation. Think this is what will defeat Daemon too. Hinata and hinabi didn’t have enough chakra/potential to startle Daemon, but he got shook by Himawari. Because she had that chakra storage with byakugan capabilities. Boruto applying that idea into the Rasengan as a shield would cause a equal if not greater counter towards daemon’s ability. A counter vs a counter with an immediate offensive effect.
