Thank you for taking the time to post this video. Great help in removing the plastic handle cover, however mine didn’t come apart as easily as yours, I had to place a screwdriver inside to press against the white clips and then follow your procedure. Like others found a small piece of black plastic that jammed the switch, couldn't ascertain where it came from and hasn't affected the switch operation, kept the piece of plastic just in case. Again thank you, saved me spending £50 on a new handle.

Thank you! I used to hear a piece of plastic rattling around inside the handle, and the switch eventually jammed so I was without turbo speed for last couple of years. Just opened handle and found small piece of black plastic jammed in switch. Could not see where it came from or broke off, but I got it out, and I’ve got turbo speed again. Result!! Thanks again!

Thank you so much for this. Turns out I had exactly the same problem - and without your video I couldn't have opened the handle to fix it. Thank you!

A small screwdriver gets into the screws. Good video, fixed another one. Thanks.

Very helpful, this helped fixed mine. It would go onto full power mode. The inside power switch had a broken bit of plastic stuck in it, I removed it and it works again. I used a small flat blade screwdriver to undo the screws ,(they are star shaped but it worked)

Thanks for very helpful video. I managed to repair our vacuum following your instructions on how to get casing apart. Found piece of broken plastic in switch which stopped getting into turbo mode. Had to make a screwdriver to fit. Now working.

I had this same exact problem. There was some loose plastic that blocked the speed selector to go in turbo mode. F*ck you Bosch! I’m pretty sure that this was made to broke. Oh, and thank you so much for the video. It was very easy to follow and saved me a lot of time to find this out by myself.

Thank you so much for this and for your learning curve to get to the bottom of a very simple and obviously inherent Bosch problem with this otherwise very good cleaner. [Bosch Athlete Pro Animal] What a shame a company with such street-cred and standing can let itself down with this stupid and SO EASILY FIXED fault which is obviously a design fault. [The four position rocker unnecessarily has a nib to the leading front edge, designed to locate - on its highest setting - into a receiving slot. This is redundant as the rocker is guided and enclosed enough as it progresses. Slight misallignment caused by either a forcefull thumb action or just wear and tear, inevitably has the nib crack off but as it has nowhere to go remains in the slot and stops the vacuum slider [I nearly said 'Hoover'! UK generic!] from moving up to the Turbo setting! I am doubly annoyed because I rang Bosch Customer Service this morning to explain my problem and, once explained in detail, he said that he had not had example of this problem before on this model! He then went on to say that a call out would cost £90.00 and then there would be possible parts; so cheaper to ... and I add: "yes buy another ...!" The very fact that this kind internet intervention has addressed what is so very obviously a regular ...but so easily fixed.. problem, makes one very angry. So angry that I called Bosch Customer Service back and went to great lengths detail my earlier call, the obvious inherent problem they must have with this model and as I was describing how I found solution to the fix online... they cut me off !!! Says it all really, but you wouldn't think it possible from such a company as this. It's not 'Built in Obsolescence' it's just bad and unfortunate design. Obviously a recall was to be too expensive. We've had ours for about five years but the fault, which I've only just been able to find a fix for, was out of guarantee. Perhaps I should send this to "Which" Magazine. But thank you Mr. Video: great service to all.

Thank you so so much for this. Was ready to buy another machine but this was very expensive. We had the very same problem with a random bit of plastic in the works, the strange thing is we have NEVER had turbo mode so the problem was obviously there from the very start when we bought it! Now we have 3 speeds - lovely! However the moment I went to use it, the battery went flat so I've now put on charge - annoying.

Yeah it was quiet expensive.

Thank you so much for posting this JH. I used it to fix my switch which would not go beyond the "1" setting. Sure enough, there was a small piece of broken plastic inside the box in which the switch slides. I couldn't see where it had come from, but my best guess is that it's part of the clip at the very top end of the handle. Anyway, it's obviously not critical as the cleaner now works fine again in all modes - so you saved me £60+ for a new handle! It's suspiciously sneaky of Bosch to uses star screws with a central "security" post to secure the two parts of the handle, meaning that most people won't have the special type of screwdriver that you used to undo them. However, I found that if you use a standard flat-blade screwdriver with a blade width of 3mm, it jams nicely between the central post and one of the star indents and allows you enough torque to turn the screws. Thanks again.

Thank you so much man, you are a legend! There was a small black piece of plastic but I couldn't work out what from, it looks almost like the first end of the screwdriver you used. Keeping it just in case, but all works fine now, thank you!

Thanks so much for putting these videos up! I followed your instructions to the letter and everything is fixed. However, I can't believe it appears to be the same problem for all of these vacuum cleaners - a mysterious bit of black plastic that breaks off and stops you changing the speed ...... mmmm ........ seems like a self destruct mechanism that Bosch have installed???

I was looking to purchase a Bosch cleaner and I am surprised how badly made they are with bad design and bad connections for the handle and motor so will not purchase but I think it is due to Bosch having their goods made in China at a lower quality
