Bosch multi tool has the best blade attachment! Oscillating Starlock GOP12V-28N review

Good day from Northern Germany. In case you haven`t figured out the Starlock-System yet, I`ll give a hint. This System will fit on Bosch and Fein Multi-Tools and was invented by both Companies. There are three Starlock-Systems, for different Multi-Tool Versions. Starlock, StarlockPlus and StarlockMax. The Starlock Sys. was invented for using the Blades and so on, in different angles. There are 48 different exchangable Tools to fit on. 32 Starlock ones, 4 StarlockPlus and 12 StarLockMax Tools. The smaller Tool-Versions will fit onto the next higher StarLock System Models. Older models did not have that S-Lock Function and would not stay in positon that tightand properly, as in the S-Lock. If you look at it, you will see the different notches, looking like a Star, eh! ;-) It keeps the Blades way stronger tightend up! This 12V model is the follow up Version of the old 10,8V Model. The Dust-Collection is different on this one, than on the 10,8V Model. In this YT-Clip you can watch both Models in action: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIubqX2Ao9CAZs0 It only weigts about 1KG, or 2 Pounds with (with Battery), wich makes it quite handy to use. If you use it for a while, you will appreciate the weight. It is fine to work in tight situations/surroundings. You get used to the change of 12V Batteries and to me it does not really seem to be a negative aspect. I would not use it with the 2Ah and 2,5Ah Batteries. The 3Ah Battery is the one, you would want to use in terms of Power. The 4Ah and 6Ah Batteries are even way better for endurance, but are not so handy, to use it on. In terms of real power, you should rather use the GOP 18V-28. It is way more powerful and has the Starlock Lever, to untighten the Blades. You simply push the lever on the head of the M-Tool over in front and it is loose. It weights twice as much as the 12V Version though, but in terms of power, there is no comparison to the 18V one! There are Sets of Tools by Bosch, which makes it easy to start with. The Delta-Grinding Plate Set is quite need for tight positions and usable with both Multi-Tools. If you go with different the corded Multi-Tools by Bosch, or Fein, you will have more Power, going from the lowest Model up to the higher Ones. The weight is the key here. If you only use for a short while and not often, you be satisfied with the 12V M-Tool. The Solo 18V one also costs about twice as much as the 12V Model. But if you are a Professional and already using 18V Tool-System by Bosch, you go for the GOP 18V. More Professional and Powerful, eh! ;-) But like I mentioned before, if you use it not that often and are also running in the 12V System, than you would definetly want this one. There are some need 12V Tools and they do the job well. A pretty good addition is the GRO 12V-35 rotary Tool. Both stored in an L-Box and you are good to go! Excellent for the ambitioned Home-Improover and the Battery Drillers are also quite need. I love my GSR 12V Flexi-Click with exchangeable Heads. I will soon get the Brushless Motor as a Spare-Part and replace the brushed Motor. A bit more Power, it will give to that lil`sucker! ;-) Stay save and greetings from over here! :-)

You can use a exacto knife to round off the edge of the clips that secure the battery to the tool. It's the sharp edges that you're having trouble getting the tool off from the battery. Thanks....Ping from Vancouver Canada

Never understood why Bosch would release a 12V StarLock without a quick release. Have the Brushless 18V OMT prior to StarLock, it has tackled everything I’ve thrown it’s way. Personally I’d buy the 12V OMT if it had a quick release, hopefully they will release one eventually.

I am using both Bosch and Fein blades. The straight blades are best for plunge cuts, while the curved blades are best for cut-offs. What happens with straight blades is if you are close to the material, the sides just knock onto the material and through the tool around. This is more noticeable with harder materials such as hardwood, or tile. The curved blades, as well as the circular blades circumvent this issue by providing a cutting edge.

Two things...1. I'm glad to see yours sounds exactly like mine. Thought I got a dud but apparently it's just that loud. 2. I have the full line of 12 Bosch as well as Milwaukee and I do agree that Bosch batteries are tougher to get in/out but I've had random Milwaukee batteries fall out of certain tools sporadically, Bosch batteries have never done that. Using the older oscillating Milwaukee tool(I've upgraded to fuel) the battery would ALWAYS fall out and being on a ladder when that happens is about as sucky as it gets. That's never happened with Bosch. Take the good with the bad.

I initially had the ,2.0 amp I think it was with the Allen key as well , got tired of constantly using the allen key , sold the omt and bought the model you are talking about with the quick release. Works amazing , another great to product from Bosch , love watching your videos , keep it up.

The upside is that they are almost impossible to get loose, especially on vibrating tools like in this review.

You're squeezing the battery in the wrong place. I've had that same trouble and finally was like WHY IS IT SO HARD TO PULL THE BATTERY OFF???? One wants to squeeze in the middle, but pull the battery out and look at the locking tabs and they are towards the back. I can see your fingers in the wrong place, just like I used to do. Kind of counterintuitive but works way better.

I am kinds on the edge with this tool. I generally like the 12V series for its small package, although I am still a corded-guy for consistent power, although I am rethinking this with double and tripple-stacked batteries offering 240V-type power. I bought the 12V multi tool for grout work, and it performs as expected for the job. It does ok for sanding. My comparison is the corded Bosch Starlock Max multitool which became my preferred sander for most of my repair type sanding jobs around the house. The movement is much larger in the Max tool, then in the 12V tool. The Max tool cuts right through 12x4 girders ( tight cut with no space for a circular saw), while it dies not perform well on tile bc of the larger angle movement where it just chips the tile, where the 12V tool performs nicely. It is an inexpensive tool for a 100-bucks, and I always look at this in comparison of me calling a contractor to get something special done, and time saved and ease of use, while home improvements is weekend warrier type of work. Defiantly worth the hundred bucks, but I probably still use my Starlock Max corded version more often.

I do love the star lock system. I think its definitely the best connection type of all the multi tools. I only have this one model and may dewalt and Milwaukees. My favourite one at the moment is the m12 fuel. It can cut straight with only one hand. Thanks for sharing your experience Cheers

Milwaukee did copy Bosch with the magnets in their new fuel versions of the oscillating tools 12v and 18v. I have a few of Bosch 12v tools I've almost bought this oscillating tool so many times.

I am really glad Bosch made a difference between 18 and 12 V way to fix a blade. On big Machine they did Quick change while macine is bigger and stronger. On 12V they went to compact but strong enough to do serious work. Making it non Quick release/change left it be as smal as possible.

I have 3 Bosh 12v drills never had a issue getting the battery out. Maybe you need to start eating your wheaties boy. :)

I have 6 12v and bosh tools and 8 12v batteries, I don't have an issue removing the battery on any of them.. Maybe your battery??

No, they do have a problem I have all Bosch 12v products and all have they same problem. And no, I am counted as a strong man. They only open if you push on the very edge, and you won't make it if you use the very edge of your fingers like a gentleman would... All in all I love Bosch product, but in recent years the quality is dropping (especial plastic casting defects) since they started cooperating with Chinese design as well as manufacturing.

It’s definitely disappointing that it doesn’t have the quick change on it. But it is the entry level unit by Bosch. Milwaukee has the same entry style unit ( Allen key).

Tighter is better than loose( no, no, not that one) my milwaukee falls off by itself, m12 saw and ratchet, bosch is way better.
