Thank you. I had exactly the same problem, except my model is the PMF 180 E, different internals but the same fault. The break was almost imperceptable, but I found it. I think I'll need to go back in an extend the wire when it breaks again. Thanks so much for saving this thing from landfill.

I took my dead multi tool apart yesterday but could not find the fault. I watched this great video today and I found exactly the same problem, broken wire on one of the coils. One coil had resistance of 20 ohms, the other nothing. I checked the soldered joints on the bad coil and found one wire had broken free. Soldered back on and got 20 ohm reading. Thanks for the video, very helpful.

Despite haven't understood even a single word (guess polish), this video was of great help learning how to disassemle my PMF190E without damaging anything. Thanks!😀 PS: In my case one of the four coil wires (very thin) broke at it's soldering joint. Probably by too much vibration.

Thanks Robert..the final few seconds of your brave live repair attempt revealed the broken field coil wire which put me on the scent..exactly the same. Job done

Useful, in that it shows how to dismantle the tool, but first you might check the continuity of the field coils. With the tool disconnected from the mains (obviously!) check the top opposite pair of terminals (i.e. the uppermost coil) with a multi meter, it should read around 20 Ohms, if so that one is OK, then check the bottom pair for the same reading. It's common to find a broken wire close to the connector, it seems to be a result of the vibration that is fundamental to the operation of the tool. However, if you find a break it's usually easy to repair if you have a soldering iron, and a piece of wire to extend the broken part of the winding, make sure the repair does not contact the metal casing of the field assembly, if you are not entirely confident then leave the repair to a qualified person. The simple continuity check mentioned would have immediately identified the broken wire shown in the video.

That was exactly my problem, wire from one of the coils was broken, which I couldn't see until I tested it, it looked like it was connected to the terminal but it wasn't. I jiggled it a bit and then it fell out. Soldered it back in and now it works. Thanks !

@@tomhorvat5559 I had also a broken wire to one of the coils. Indeed after scraping off some insulation I could solder it back in place.

I think I have the same - a broken wire from PCB to a mini spade connector.

Miałem identyczne uszkodzenie. Na szczęście upalony był ostatni zwój stojana. Po wyciągnięciu i przylutowaniu działa idealnie.

Thank you for showing this. I had the same bad connection issues and a broken coil wire. It is a weak electrical construction for a device that has such a lot of vibrations... I expected a more solid construction of the Bosch brand !

Thanks for this. Very informative. One question: can the broken field coil wire be repaired and, if so, how?

I extended the blown wire on the stator with another piece of insulated wire, fortunately the rotor was not damaged and the device has been repaired.

@@RobertLajk Was is possible to measure that the stator wire was blown using a multimeter ?
