I bought it few weeks ago and used it few times already - the middle of the mass is amazing - it's very hard to understand it in the first moment but as soon as you start work with it - it's an amazing tool

You dead right it's the ideal workshop router. The 6Ah battery tip is absolutely right in my view and in-fact I learned that detail from Manor Wood before I committed.

I bought the brushed version of this router six or seven years ago i believe. It wasn't on the market long when i purchased it. It finally died two Weeks ago. I brought it into my local Bosch dealer. The technician informed me Yesterday that it's not worth repairing. I did a lot of round overs, chamfers, hinge mortices and lock face plate mortices with that little router. I'll replace it with the brushless version.

Couldn't agree more, so quiet, and capable, it's risen to challenge what ever I throw at it, literally yesterday cut the window rebates for a green house I'm building, just a joy to use. The 2 major criticisms I have are lack of dust extraction, and lack of base insert support, just because it would be brilliant as a copier if I could use existing jigs, yes can mount a bearing on a shaft but an insert and spiral bit would be ideal both issues can be solved with 3d printed accessories on etsy

Thanks for the longer term review Matt, it's good to hear what you have found over an extended period of use ! I baulked at the price when I bought mine as like you it was really only for chamfers and round-overs and a bit of edge trimming, but I'm glad I got it as it's so good for those jobs and I'm far more likely to grab this than set up a bigger router. It's true of course that the 6ah battery gives it more grunt, I had one of these already as it is all but essential for the little circular saw in the range which often stalls when used with the 2ah !

You nailed the appeal for me when you said it was good if you’re not a router user. I’ve had one of these little things for a couple years and it’s great for the roundover/chamfer task. The Bosch 12v range is quite a charismatic little range I think. I have the oscillating tool and the drill and they are my go-to for 90% of tasks. Manor Woods - a man for whom no piece of equipment is too high-end - is a big fan of these with the bigger battery.

Totally agree, brilliant kit. I'm quite heavily invested in Bosch 12V as the smaller battery makes for a much lighter, manageable tool. The planer is brilliant, drills perfect, and the mini angle grinder is a revelation. I'm slightly indifferent to the 12V multitool, preferring my Fein, but portability is key there. All in all, well worth the investment for me

I invested in the Bosch 12v platforms starting with the GSR 12V-15 FC FlexiClick. Not the fastest or most powerful range but it allowed me to build a range of tools - creating and repairing whilst keeping things compact. I also have a few Makita CXT tools. Both Bosch and Makita stated this 12V market segment that Milwaukee and Dewalt have since become part of.

@@Badgerworkshop it isn't very powerful, and you don't get much cutting depth. It is easy to stall it out if you push it too hard. But for occasional small cuts it's nice to have in my experience

@@Badgerworkshop think of it as a hacksaw without the need for a vice, and it's perfect. As stated, it's not too powerful but it is light enough to control with one hand easily. Perfect for overhead work.

Hey Matt, just so you know. That Amazon link to the router is saying delivery would be a month. 😮 I need it sooner, I bought the used but good instead. I hope some of that goes your way! I bought the box of 15 bits from your link, thanks for the great videos! 😊

Great router for edge work. Usually do the fine adjustment from the sole plate using an Allen key. While it can make a mess I think dust extraction would make it clumsy. Great to just grab it and do a quick round over.

Great review. I am invested in two battery platform, Ryobi and Bosch Blue Professional. I have the Ryobi router and agree, it's very top heavy. I also now have a 12v Battery, 6amp, the same one you showed on your video. FFX had a 15% off so was able to get the battery for £55 2 weeks ago. I am differently intrested in this router but would only buy on sale, maybe around Black Friday, I can pick one up for less than £90.

Great review Matt. This router was the main factor for me originally wanting to go with Bosch for the 12v platform, but ultimately I went another colour with a wider range of tools... but no router. Would certainly be lighter than my DW 18v for door ironmongery.

Thanks for the video. I really learned quite a bit from your demonstration. I went and bought it. But that adjustable nut has a little silver holder for the bit that doesn't seem to work correctly. It won't hold the bits in place. It falls out. Can you help me figure out what I should do to get it going, please? Thank you.

Great review - thank you! I've loved the idea of these routers ever since seeing one reviewed by @MattEstlea I've been a bit hesitant to sell my Bosch GKF550 and get one of these, since Bosch South Africa doesn't expect to extend the 12V range here, beyond the router, drill and driver. Maybe one day!

@@Badgerworkshop I have another corded router that has a dust port for other tasks - it's great to have a dedicated roundover router with the Bosch's ergonomic grip. Yes the 4Ah or 6Ah battery will give all Bosch 12v tools more grunt but the 2.5 or 3Ah batteries offer more compactness and better balance if you let the tool do the work and are happy not to force it too fast. This GKF 12V-8 tool helps me get better results - not the fastest - but nicely controlled
