Hi there! I recently got the famous Bose QC Ultra Headphones, and I can confirm that despite the drivers (speakers) being similar to the Bose NCH 700, this very recent model sounds even better than its predecessor. I also have the Sony WH-1000-XM4, and find that the QC Ultra's sound signature is much clearer than the Sony model. What's more, a little adjustment of the well-rounded bass, and the midrange drive the point home even further. *As a preventive measure, I'd advise you *not to exceed 65% volume, and to take a few listening breaks for the sake of your ears (e.g. 15 to 20 minutes for 1 hour's listening).* Indeed, these headphones have a lot in reserve, and I didn't notice any major sound distortion, which is very good quality. But be careful with your ears, because they're really powerful! And yes, the sound is very clear! Lightweight (257 grams), it folds neatly and has a wider, more comfortable headband. The depth of the speakers (especially for big ears - you don't sweat as much as with Sony headphones) and its active noise reduction are truly impressive! Somewhat superior to Apple's Air Pods Max, that is! For the moment (2023), in concrete terms, *it's the best noise-canceling headset!* At the same time, it's the most recent. We'll see how it fares next year (2024), with the future Sony WH-1000-XM6 and Apple Air Pods Max 2. The "attentive" (transparent) mode is a real success! A notch below the Air Pods Max, and a good notch above the WH-1000-XM4/5. You can clearly hear everything around you. The immersive mode is a bit of a gimmick, as it gives the impression that the soundstage is getting bigger, but I still find it well worthwhile, especially for films and video games! That's another world! I also note that this mode is a little more energy-hungry in terms of this product's autonomy (around 19h35 for me, as opposed to the 18 hours announced by Bose). In fact, as far as battery life is concerned, I think that Bose has underestimated its headphones, because without the immersive mode, and staying at 60~65% maximum volume, I've actually gone up to around 30 hours. The official press release claims 24 hours' autonomy. . What's more, a mode (even two) designed to cleverly save battery power has been integrated: _ Like Apple and Sony, the sound stops when the QC Ultra is removed... And restarts once the device is placed back on the head. _ Automatic sleep mode, when the headset is removed for a long time. It restarts automatically when put back on. Automatic pairing, no headaches, it works like a charm. Multipoint is amply correct, and the solid Bluetooth is certified in 5.3 (the latest available), which is much better in terms of wireless connection stability. A very good point in itself. The WH-1000-XM4 (which is in bleuetooth 4.2) that I've owned since 2021 can cut out from time to time for no reason at the moment... I don't know why. Maybe it's due to my smartphone being almost full of internal memory? I don't know. In any case, I no longer have this little inconvenience with the Bose QC Ultra. The application is nice and quite rich! It's straight to the point, and somewhat less sophisticated than Sony's, whose geekiness is its specialty. As for the buttons, they're all located on the right speaker, behind the ear. A touch-sensitive surface for volume, and incidentally a personalized touch-sensitive button (press for 2 seconds in the middle of the touch-sensitive surface and that's it), either to obtain a voice assistant, or to indicate battery level or something else, for example... Personally, I opted for the battery level. How convenient! And in terms of physical buttons, there are only 2. . The first, at the bottom of the right-hand speaker, is reserved for switching on the headset. . The second button is located a little higher up, towards the rear of the speaker. . The second button is located a little higher up, towards the back of the speaker. This button allows: _ 1 short click: play / pause; 1 long click: change mode (immersive, attentive, silent - additional modes can be added and/or removed, such as the outdoor mode with its more or less successful optional "windbreaker" function, for example); _ 2 quick clicks: next track; _ 3 quick clicks: previous track. Personally, I find these two physical buttons rather instinctive and less headache-inducing (100% subjective, of course). As for the tactile part, I find it better thought-out than the NCH 700 and the Sony WH-1000-XM4/5, in the sense that there's no tactile conflict when unwanted rubbing occurs, such as fabric rubbing when you're in bed, or when you're putting on a hood. The left speaker features a USB-C input for headphone charging only, and an input for... A 2.5 mm jack!... The 2.5 mm jack... I'll never understand why that is... Especially as the headphones must be switched on to be effective(!)... I really don't understand this choice... As far as phone calls are concerned, the people I'm talking to can hear me clearly, even when there's a lot of noise around me! It's not as sophisticated as the Air Pods Max, but it's still one of the most effective. My voice is clearly audible, and it's possible to adjust the volume of the voice when telephoning via the headset. I write this because none of the testers mentioned this detail generally. Unfortunately, it's impossible to obtain lossless sound via a wired USB-C cable (which is quite incomprehensible to me, especially given its high price at the moment). The French Batys headphones, for example (albeit more expensive than the QC Ultra), make this possible. Finally, the price is high (499€) for the moment, but will inevitably drop in the coming months (logically). And then the bargains will start rolling in over the coming year. It has to be! So, I've tried to be as complete as possible about my pleasant experience with these Bose Quiet Confort Ultra Headphones. Expensive, yes, it's undeniable, but very pleasant to hold, not at all uncomfortable on the head, light and very comfortable, this top-of-the-range headset (2023) does quite well, if not very well. A special mention for the active noise reduction, which so far puts it ahead of Apple and Sony. All in all, this headset is a success, far from flawless, let's be honest, but what it does, it does really well. Very satisfied overall. Oh yes, I almost forgot: *the ear pads are detachable and therefore replaceable, in case of any long-term wear and tear.* Hoping for interesting updates (USB-C wired sound, I dream of it! x) ) to come! Looking forward to hearing from you! Respect for your remarquable work!👍🏾🔥

The Sonys have been the most comfortable overall about 4 years in a row. I don't know where you trolls get your facts from but next time you should research stuff before spouting none sense. The reason why is because Bose always has tight headbands and you can feel the pressure on your head, everyone can that's not biased like the pros aka GYMCADDY OR AARONWIRELESS OR FLOSSY CARTER. I tried out the Ultras at Best Buy, as well, and was able to connect to my own phone and choose my songs. The immersive mode sounded incredible and is a huge selling point for me. I own the XM5s, and the music quality was similar if Immersive mode is turned off. Bose’s hear-through mode also seems just a bit clearer. And yeah, you can only judge noise cancellation so much while tethered to the store’s display case, but it was solid. I also own AirPods Max, which have the best transparency mode of the three, similar noise cancellation, and probably the least exciting overall sound.

I tried the Sony headphones XM5s for two weeks using them at the gym, mowing the grass, on a flight to Las Vegas, and driving a big box truck and the Sony ANC was fantastic and blew away my old Bose headphones 35s. The sad part was that after an hour or more wearing the Sony headphones XM5s the headband would cause pain on the top of my head which I never experienced with my old Bose 35s headphones. I like the Sony’s headphones ANC but for me, they are NOT comfortable wearing for over an hour. I ordered the Bose Ultra headphones and hopefully, they will be comfortable for hours of wearing especially on long flights.

I had to return my Sony XM5's because they hung way too low on my ears, almost like a weight. I had to take them off at 3hr point because my ears and the top of my head was so uncomfortable and sore. Also the "padding" (if you can even call it that) on the XM5's is almost non-existent. I'm currently wearing my new Bose Quietcomfort Ultras and they've been on now for almost 6 hrs and they feel fantastic, light as a feather. Sooo incredibly happy I made the switch. Sound quality was great on the XM5's but when the hardware itself is causing pain to your ears and your head, they've got to go.

Had a breakdown of my Sony 5's where my left earcup detached right at the swivel part. Quick googling and it turns out this is much more common problem than it should. Plastic around there is too brittle. I stress out that I always handled them with care, always in protective casing, etc. It happened after 13 months of usage, which is a really small time frame for something that is, or at least should be, a premium product. Now I am in the market for a fresh pair and if it weren't for a glaring discrepancy in microphone quality, I would jump on the Bose. This is the one thing holding me back, since I use headphones for work (zoom calls, etc.) quite often. I am not finding this type of pain point for Bose, but for those seriously considering Sony, please do some extra investigating :)

Speaking of QuietComfort, I saw these bad boys at BestBuy, placed them on, tested them out and I loved them immediately! So these are my brand new go-to headphones to replace my crappy AUSDOM and MONODEAL ones. But geez, they are EXPENSIVE! The reason I'm replacing my AUSDOM headphones is because their ANC is CRAPPY and I keep hearing my family's voices while I'm playing my video games. The MONODEAL ones suck because I have a headband that is wearing out now. Once I get the QuietComfort Ultra, my AUSDOM and MONODEAL headphones are going STRAIGHT TO GOODWILL!

Using bose quietcomfort ultra, and I can say this is the best headphone for all features like noise cancellation and sound quality. I have tried Sony newest product too, but mehh
@1THEJUGGERNAUT1 Жыл бұрын
I went with the Bose ultras because I use mine primarily for the gym and something no reviewer ever mentions is the size of the cans. The Sony are massive. On some machines or with certain exercises they get knocked off my head or I have to take them off to do the exercise which of course defeats the purpose. My shoulder often comes in contact with the can which causes the music to play and stop or skip or turn off. So for me Bose with the low profile can and great anc that was the way to go. Oh and one other note the feature that turns the music on or off when you remove the headphones stops working with either one. I'm guessing because of temperature? Otherwise once they cool down it starts working again.
@Sloba1992 Жыл бұрын
Sony’s last 12-14 months if you use it in gym, sony 4 lasted 13 months and became unusable sony 5 started having same problems after 14 months, I have been using Bose qc45 for 2 years and more often than Sonys and Bose never had any problems, Bose will outlast 2-3 models of sony headphones easily, I have proved that and many other people, never heard of case where sony lasted longer than Bose

@@Sloba1992 I can't personally speak for Sony because I've never used any of their headphones. But I can say that I've been using my QC 25 for over 5 years and they still work great. I work out with them, sleep with them, etc and only had to change the ear pads a few times. As someone who wants at least 4-5 years of use out of my tech, Bose is great.
@miles5600 Жыл бұрын
@@aBlackMage I've now had my NC700's for around 4 years and the pads just started breaking. the headphones are durable and still work like they're brand new. i'm not upgrading for a while till something better comes around i guess.

I primary use my headphones in the gym as well. I've been using Bose SoundLink since 2013. I want to use Bose more but the track controls on the Sony's is a great option. I think I'll be trying them out first. I can always fall back to Bose if Sony doesn't cut it when I'm lifting.......well now Idk, these other commenters are right about Bose. I've had 2 pairs in the last 10 years. I only gave 1 pair up because the muffs were beat while I was deployed and I had to use duct tape on them. And I just got new muffs last year on the pair that broke today.

I like Sony WH-1000XM5 sound, its amazing! But they are so uncomfortable on my ears,... my ears are crying ! So I would buy a new pair of Bose since they are freaking comfortable for a long period! and if you want to get a better sound, there is always an option adjust to improve it using a third party software or an equalizer. Currently, I have a 7 years old Bose wired QC25 and they are awesome. Especially with a Boom app. Btw, new ultras looks amazing

I used the wonderful Sony WH-1000M4 for years and I loved them. I recently bought the Bose Quietcomfort Ultra Headphones and I also love it. Your video shows that the Sony has a better mic, but for me this is minor. ANC is what I am after, and, as you can guess, the Bose are simply incredible, vastly superior to the M4 (I dunno personally about the M5, sorry). Either way, I agree with the host - in either case you are going to pay top dollar, but you DO get your money's worth. I can honestly say that I recommend the Bose without reservations (but I am sure that the M5 must be also superb). Thank you for a good video!

Comfort is the most important thing to me. I got rid of every single over the ear headphone I’ve ever had because of the clamping force. They constantly hurt and take away from my experience so I’ve been stuck with earbuds this whole time. The last pair I had were the Sony XM2's and those hurt like crazy. I want to dabble back into over ear headphones and was looking forward to trying the Bose QuiteComfort Ultra, but now it seems like I waited for nothing 😪

I have the Nose QC35II that I’ve used for years and I can wear them all day. No joke, I probably use them on average for about 4-7 hours every work day. Maybe they’re just broken in, or maybe it’s the design. From the looks of it, the QC45’s or even the new QC headphones look to have the same form factor. You might try a pair of those out. I’ve never had a pair of Sony cans, so I can’t speak to their clamping force. Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you! 😊

PSA - Anyone with large ears, do NOT buy the Sony XM5. They are extremely shallow in the cups. The Bose are amazing for larger ears. I know that isn’t important for a lot of folks, but trust me if you have larger ears, the Bose are best in class for a roomier fit.

I have the bose qc 45 and 35 and I tester the ultra. The 45 are the most comfortable but the ultra have amazing features. For me I also used to have the Sony XM4 and they were so uncomfortable I gave them away to an ex girl I had. For me for big headphones comfort is everything. They can have all tne fancy features in the world but it they aren't comfortable or don't stay in the ears it's pointless to me. That's why I choose Bose over Sony any day
