I live in a Bose audio environment (an old 3-2-1 GSX home theater, 2 Soundtouch speakers, a pair of Soundlink headphones (on the ear)and a Soundwear Wearable Speaker). This looks like a viable candidate to connect and use out on the patio or take with me for sound on the go for an picnic or hike. Glad to see the demo of the voice quality for calls. I would make use of that when I am working from home. Always appreciate your reviews and insight.

I just got mine. I unfairly compared it to my JBL Extreme because I don't have a smaller JBL. On its own the Bose is impressive. Bass and treble sound solid. I find the highs surprisingly clean, and actually get decent bass. I like it and will probably get a second for stereo.

@@Jzak25 I went stereo, and very impressive sound for size and portability. The JBL Extreme's are louder due to size, but the Bose get plenty loud with clean sound.

I must say I was ready to return this speaker, but once I head the sound it was wow, crystal clear sound and at 60% it full my filled my room. I brought this only for a nice speaker for when I travel.

I’m sure things like audio books or audio dramas or described movies would sound great on the speaker. Thanks for a very thorough review. I now know what to expect when I do purchase the speaker.

Hell ya! I have a mini sol republic I used for years and still have in a drawer somewhere. The battery was no longer holding a long charge but I always wanted to open it up and replace it. The deck was cool. I remember seeing it on a good sale and should have bought 2.

Hey Keith , it does sound good But what all these small Bluetooth speakers are missing is STEREO. When the speakers came out for I pods they were stereo. For some reason the New Generation of smartphone users don’t care got stereo- just Music. 150.00 should include Stereo speakers....just saying mono was in the 50’ so let’s not go backwards with sound quality. Funny no one seems to be talkin* about it.

How does it sound compared to a Soundcore Motion+ ? In my opinion all Bluetooth speakers in the 100 to 200 dollars range should be benchmarked against the Motion+. The Motion+ is the Bose and JBL killer, having superior volume, bass and clarity, sounding more natural while still being powerful without big distortion and DSP dropping bass at higher volumes.

But the thing about the anker range is that when the sound quality is just looked at overall, it does not match up to these. So i have a harmaan kardon onyx 5 and an anker rave neo. And the onyx just beats the rave neo out of the park in every aspect except loudness and battery. I can’t listen to the rave neo over an hour. Something about the audio just does not add up with anker.

Now I dont really like the other bose lineups to be honest. Not a revolve fan at all. Their bass sucks. But i heard the flex and it’s just super solid overall. The bass is definitely there and overall the sound is just beautiful. Can def keep listening for hours

That's actually a typo on their website. It does actually use 5.1. I checked with Bose and it also has it on Amazon when you click on the Bluetooth tab in the description which is an image and info that Bose themselves uploaded to Amazon.

The Bose site still says 4.2. All reviews I've watched, by people unboxing the speaker before reviewing, say 4.2. It seems pretty certain it's 4.2. This is the only review I've seen which says 5.1.

Gamesky - Great video! You nailed a few points here which are spot-on. I agree with you when it comes to Bose, you spend a lot more money on the Bose name, and usually there are better options out there for the money. I have owned the Bose SoundLink Color 2 for a couple years, still works and still sounds great, and originally I had intended on buying another SL Color 2 to pair them up with the Bose app. After looking around for a few weeks at other options, I bought the Flex. I also went to a local Best Buy, which had a display of Bose Bluetooth speakers where you could listen to them side by side. I am sure that Bose chooses music which highlights and showcases their speakers, and the Flex sounded so incredible. That and many reviews gave positive feedback on the Flex as one of the best speakers for this price range and size. For comparison's sake the Flex has much fuller sound and better bass than the SoundLink Color 2, that was very obvious after playing both of them side by side. The SLC2 has been around for several years now, so it's not as competitive now. The other speaker that sounded incredible was the Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus 2. I noticed that you had mentioned you bought the Flex to replace your Revolve Plus. If a speaker is half the price, and can pull that off, that says it all. I looked at Sonos, Harman Kardon, JBL, Sony, Soundcore, UE, Marshall, etc., in this price category before buying the Flex. Going to break in the Flex and see how well it compares to the other speakers I currently own.

The position IQ is gimmick, I've been using this since launch (Nov 2021) and I hear on difference at all... also no upgrades since. The speaker is great and I do travel with it everywhere and listen to it a lot. No complains.

who really cares about waterproof speakers. If your use indoors only most people won't care. This looks okay but JBL flip 5 looks better and so does the sony SRS xb33. No doubt the sound on bose is excellent however, it's not a stylish speaker.
