Thank you very much for this video! I was able to disassemble, replace the battery and reassemble the speaker without causing any damage using the hints and tips you provided. The speaker was lightly used but Bose website showed it out of warranty. Bose didn’t return my emails asking if repair service was available. The website offered a reduced cost replacement for $75 + tax and shipping. I wasn’t sure it was the battery and was hesitant to gamble on a $25 replacement battery plus $12 security hex tool but it worked out. It required light soldering and was a tedious job but there’s a bit of pride in having successfully completed the repair. Thanks again for sharing!

I tried to take mine apart, and after having ripped one of the rubber slot over a year ago. I put it on my desk again but sound was annoyingly vibrating with loose rubber. Thankfully I now found this video😅 and the bottom cover came off smoothly as per this video. Noticed there is small arrow on bottom plastic cover rubber that needs to point towards jack/usb port. Fixed it up and reassembled! Thank you for your rubber sacrifice and instructions!!!

Bro, YOU ARE THE MAN!! This is the first disassembly video that I have found for the SOUNDLINK COLOR 2. My Soundlink fell off of my desk while a jack was plugged in and when I picked it up it turned out that the jack had broken INSIDE the auxiliary input hole. I had no idea how to get the damn thing out. This video will help. THANK YOU!!

Broke the little rubber bits while trying to remove the cover and it was making this horrible fizzing sound whenever the bass would hit. I didn’t realize they couldn’t just be tucked back in and fixed it after this video. Thank you so much for saving the tunes 🥺

Thank you so much!!! I had "accidentally" removed the bottom grey bit and back-bottom blue bit from the casing, and this video had me putting it back together in moments!! Only tool required was a screwdriver but I could have just as easily used a butterknife. I do not know why Bose's FAQ or the like doesn't have something like this, if the the rubber comes unattached the only advice they give is to call customer support, which doesn't seem like the right avenue for this kind of problem.

I grabbed one of these at a pawn shop in the box new. I was skeptical because of the size. Bro, this thing is amazing. If you're thinking about getting one DO IT. The clarity is amazing and the bass was definitely a pleasant surprise. Thanks for the vid.

Hmm maybe I have a faulty one because it doesn't sound good at all. I've tried going into dev options on my phone, adjusting an EQ and I honestly didn't think the sound was that impressive

I personally think the cover on it affects the quality of the audio. Because the silicon covers the holes.

First of all i would like to thank you for your video and thanks to your experience i was able to safley disassemble mine without damaging. My Soundlink was completly dead not responding to any buttons. Solution was to desolder the 4 battery wires and resolder them back. I do recomend a background in electronics and experience with handle electronic devices. Thanks again vermont460.

Thanks for the video. I am basically a layman, and would Not attempt to take some apart if I wasn't more than reasonably sure that I could put an item back together. Most of the speakers these days are assembled so tightly that I...... would be very reluctant to say the least at taking something like this apart. Thanks.

Mine stopped. Doesn't go on now. I decided to replace the battery. Even though it's relatively new, I read that they put an extremely old battery in them. There's only one battery in it. And my boyfriend got the rubber sleeve off without tearing it. I asked him how he did it? He said he was very careful. So good luck with your speakers.

Glad you got it working again how's that working out for you I'm not sure about them putting an old battery in though I had one of these it lasted for 5 years before it died on me recently but I don't think it was because of the battery and I used the thing quite a bit. Doesn't really make sense to me why they would put an old battery in there because then they would be failing left and right. And if it's within the one year or two year warranty then they have to replace the battery. Maybe you meant an older type of battery? I miss the days when smartphones had batteries that you could swap out. I actually bought older phones specifically for this reason. Nowadays most phones if you have some battery problem you have to send it in for repairs where is my old phone I just swap out the battery and if it's working then I know the problem is the other battery. If it's not working then I know there's a bigger problem and I have to send it for repair. Of course the problem with the older phones I cannot get the newest operating system Android and some apps stopped working but so far it's working out for me. Rock on

I have this exact model. It went dead a while ago, about a year, and it will simply not charge and none of the reset possibilities available seem to work. I’ve tried lots of reboot options so it must be a hardware issue I think. Perhaps it is the charging port that isn’t functioning properly? Any advice? Anyone else have this problem?
@klausschwab4019

Try removing battery and resoldering the battery terminals again, seems like that resets the firmware that causes the problem, after that youll want to connect your speaker to a computer and update the firmware to prevent it happening again.

I had a similar problem they told me it needs a new motherboard but the cost is almost as much as a new unit so I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do. But I am sure what I'm not going to do. And you can probably guess what that is.

Passive radiator. They require the main drivers (the two little ones) to move air around to push them. There is one on the front and one on the back. They make it sound bigger than it actually is

If you have a hairdryer handy, holding it to the speaker for about five or 10 minutes will cause the silicone rubberized cover to soften and become easier to manage. Bose is very anti-repair when it comes to a lot of their portable Bluetooth products. Case in point, the battery is not easily replaceable because the leads are soldered on. I have one of these in blue. I can’t believe that I wasted the money on it. When the battery dies you have to send it to the e-waste pile or pay 75 bucks for a low-cost replacement. Absolutely ridiculous.
