The combat trick you are referring to won't be modern legal. It has the Commander deck set code on it fortunately.

My first thought, as a UW player in historic, is my check to Sheoldred is often supreme verdict. And reprieve checks supreme verdict JUST long enough to tap the ring, draw 2-3, and gain 4-6 life, making the life loss not FAST enough for you to not find another ring or Sheoldred. In my experience, reprieve or thought seize into ring:Sheoldred is really strong. Different formats, forsure; but maybe they translate here too :)

You aren't wrong, but it's simpler than that: Reprieve is pretty solid against anyone who is regularly casting spells that cost 3 or more (ie, more than reprieve costs you), and pretty bad against anyone dumping out 1- and 2-drops (ie, everyone he played against this league).

Do you like reprieve in this list oberall, or would you rather it be another counter/removal spell? If you are wanting another 2 mana counter, I feel like 2 Drown in the Loch would be a good place to be, that or 3 Force of Negations.

Is Leyline of Sanctity worth a consideration as an aspect of this deck's sideboard? It seems like against scam, starting with hexproof should just be an autowin. The only time your scam opponent in game 1 had an advantage was when early scam things slowed you down.

I talked about Leylines in the deck tech. If I could have 1 in my opening hand and never draw another, the yes it’s great to have in play. If I’m mulling functional hands digging for leylines, I’m giving the card advantage back to them that they lose to the Leyline. If I draw a Leyline ever in a game it’s a bad draw. I don’t think they’re worth the card quality and mulligan incentives compared to more median useful cards.

Is reprieve just the better remand now? -it "counters" uncounterable spells like emrakul or thoracle off of cavern of souls -its white, so can't be countered by pyroblast or blocked/enable veil of summer

Looking at the deck, 9 of the 12 different nonland cards in the main deck are printed in 2021 or later, the two only actual old cards have been recently unbanned (only cards to keep up with the power creep), and the last one is T3feri, a milestone in shitty card design from the set that started the downfall of modern Magic. This format has become such a joke.
