Thirty years have passed since the siege of #Sarajevo began in April 1992. The anniversary of this key moment in the Bosnian #War comes as the world sees many tragic comparisons with current events in #Ukraine. Sarajevo was under siege from Serbian forces for almost four years, the longest blocade of any capital city in modern warfare. More than 11,000 lives were lost. The city was eventually liberated with the help of the international community. But for those who witnessed events in Sarajevo first-hand, the memories are hard to bear. FRANCE 24's Julien Sauvaget and Emma James report.

If world made efforts to help us ,as they helping now in Ukraine ,EVEN ONLY 25% of what they doing now for Ukrainians , everything would be much better , there would not be so many killed civilians , infrastructure would not be leveled to zero, nationalistic parties would not rule Bosnia , country would not be divided …but WORLD FAILED BOSNIA ! 😡😡😡this is the saddest fact , WORLD FAILED TO HELP AND PROTECT BEAUTIFUL BOSNIAN PEOPLE AND THIS WILL STAY WRITTEN IN HISTORY . This war could be stoped !!!!😡

@@makomer7418 made electricity?... 😂😂 you are probably referring to Tesla and believing in your ignorance that he "made electricity"... However, TEsla had nothing to do with Serbs and Serbia. if he was a Serb who was born, raised and educated in Serbia, he'll never become what he did. He was born in Croatia, of Croatian families (regarding to Tesla himself, see his UNPUBLISHED diary which Serbs are hiding more than 70 yrs now!).. His great-grandfather, the ancestor of the Tesla branch, was forced to convert to Orthodoxy for economic reasons, and his father was an Orthodox priest, but not of the Serbian Orthodox Church. So, he was born in Croatia, which was then part of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, was educated in Graz (and Prague?), worked in Prague and Paris before emigrating to the USA ... although on one occasion visited Serbia and spent in it as much as 30 ..... hours!😂😂 _"I am glad that the Croats consider me their own because my ancestors are Croatian descendants Draganić from Zadar. As Croatian nobles in the 16th century they came to Lika and stayed there. In Lika my ancestors came through Novi Vinodolski. My mother's ancestors, Kalinić, they are also Croatian nobles from Novi Vinodolski. My great-grandfather, due to circumstances, had to go to Bosnian Krajina (Turkish Croatia). There he married an Orthodox woman and converted to Orthodoxy. He had protruding front teeth, so the people called him "Tesla" after the tool used to process wood, hence my current surname Tesla, which is actually a nickname. My grandfather was an officer in the Lika regiment, and my father was an Orthodox priest!!"_ (from the unpublished diary of Nikola Tesla) "Drago mi je što me Hrvati smatraju svojim jer su moji preci hrvatski koljenovići Draganići iz Zadra. _

@@jms972 Ridiculous claim and total lie, Serbs started their attacks and mass ethnic cleansing months before islamists came to Bosnia. Islamists came as a result of initial Serb aggression which you deny and probably support.

The Bosnian govt in Sarajevo wasn`t very effective, they didn`t take any action against the Serbs when Croatia was being attacked & bombed from Bosnian territory in 1991. The Sarajevo govt didn`t help its own citizens much in 1992 when the Serbs turned on them.
@Arrowgamesefootball

Unprepared and ineffective. They relied too much and expected too much help from the international community which they never really got . The territory Croatia has been attached from in 1991 is a part of Bosnia but back then was already under serb control. They couldn't do anything to stop that .

@@Arrowgamesefootball They never tried to do anything to stop the attacks from Bosnian territory into Croatia. Like I said the Sarajevo govt ( if you can call it that) didn`t help its own citizens much in the beginning. They were ignoring a lot of the problems that were building up in Bosnia and even ignored attacks on villages well before Sarajevo got hit.
