I learned lock picking a year ago from watching these videos. After picking over 100 locks, I’ve learned that extreme bitted locks are far more challenging to deal with than just a security pins. I have 4 pin master no3’s that are much more challenging to open than flat bitted 6 pin locks with spools.

It's a shame they started cutting these locks and so picking them got useless.. just took too much time while a grinder or a big cutter did the job way faster.. As a Neighbor Country to Germany we had family in Germany and so Burg locks were everywhere in my surroundings and they absolute ruled for a while, but as I said, the picking just took too long and faster resources were found. Really a shame. I bet I have these locks laying around still ☺

Thanks for the video! Please do more German locks. I'd like to try some American locks, but Abus and Burg is pretty much all we get here in terms of padlocks. (Master locks are sold for ridiculous money as "high security locks".) What are some good Burg and Abus locks for beginners to cut their teeth on? New lockpickers from Europe are a bit out in the cold because all the typically recommended beginner locks are either unavailable or way too expensive here... If you had to name an Abus lock instead of the Master #3, which one would it be?
@sebastiand1523 жыл бұрын
Buy cheap Burg lock, these can be easier than Master No. 3. Not for raking (simple Master locks are really very easy there), but for SPP.

Let me ask a question. You had the key available and chose a particular pick to address the hi-lo-cut problem. Did this save much time? How hard would it be to open that lock in "real life" (on the street)? Would you need 10+ minutes to open it with no knowledge of the key cutting? In that case I should consider the lock unpickable for a unexperienced person.

The word "Präzision" on the label is German for "precision" (not too dificult to guess). So, no false marketing claim in this case.

It would be nice to know what “quite a while” means. What’s the era of this lock? 80s? 90s? Sometimes there are very old locks presented and I’m interested in how old is very old. A lot of times my own estimates are way off and it’s surprising. I’ll see a lock from the 1960s and I’ll think it’s from the 1930s. In a lot of these videos, we never even get a ball park estimation of the decade.
@mademoisellekaya14383 жыл бұрын
When I look at the lock Bill has, it's for sure either the 80's but I think even 70's because I see that sticker and it looks as the locks from my childhood. I bet I have these laying around somewhere, still. Edit, I think that one is even more before the 70's...
