Couple more notes: -That bad breath attack he does actually can inflict Poison on you as well as darken the screen, which is called Blind, if you don't have the correct immunity ability from your Spirits. -Sometimes when you do enough damage, you can interrupt Julius's attacks and make him stagger for more punishment. He'll do the same attack after recovery though. -After a certain random amount of attacks, Julius actually stands still for a while, allowing more damage. This type of opening is also guaranteed when he gets out of his electric mode. Don't rely on it or the staggers though. -Even if Julius hits one of the breakable light posts with his building jump, it strangely can still disable commands despite him not hitting you. -Attack and Magic Hastes can help with recovering disabled commands faster. -When Julius is at the critical HP threshold, he stays in his electric mode permanently and it won't fade away until you beat him.

Here's another tip when fighting with Riku, Go and beat Sora's Final boss again, this will get rid of the drop gauge until you beat Riku's Final boss again.

Pointers for their abilities: If you want to get Riku's Dark Roll and Dark Barrier easily, be sure to make a Majik Lapin for the latter (it's only 10 Link Points at the start) And it's also one of the Drop Bonuses. Be sure to actually save first though, cause the different drop bonuses (especially late in the game) are different each time (either just a simple Hi-Potion or Aerial Recovery). You can also get their Payback commands this way too, however: Sora can only get Payback Blast for Riku. While Riku can get Payback Raid for Sora. Sora can also get Dark Roll and Dark Firaga for Riku. So rack up A LOT of DP if you can, AND PLEASE SAVE before dropping. The drop bonuses change each time you drop/restart the game, so keep dropping and restarting till you get the proper commands.

I realize that this is 3 years old but i’m just now getting to this game (on the PS4 version) and I realized something. It may have been mentioned in the comments with his but i’m too lazy to read through all of them. ANYWAY! I was runnin this fight with Sora and i noticed that if you’re far enough away when he starts his punch combo you can block the first hot on you then counter rush through the rest of it. You do damage while at the same time have that little bit of invincibility. It does work 100% of the time but often enough. Anyway, just though i’d add imput. Otherwise great job man. When I fought Julius, when he went into electric rage mode, I guarded the lightning bolts, then I IMMEDIATELY used flow motion to stay at the top of the most otherwise unaccesable building throughout the duration of his rage. This is because I HATE when he does the "butt drag" attack (since it ALWAYS disables equipped command if hit). I just clung to the wall with flow motion, and every jump he makes at you will be a guaranteed miss.

Pointers for commands: ANY Balloon spell can work, but mostly out of anybody's preference: Balloon and Balloonga for anyone who loves to make sure Julius runs or flies and falls into your shit without worry, or Balloonra for a lot of damage if you happen to get very good with it. So in short, Balloon/Balloonga for safety, or Balloonra for some risk with good reward. It's also wise to have multiple copies of the Curaga spell, or any strong healing items like Mega-Potions and Elixirs. This is due Julius' late phase where he can disable one of your commands for a long while, and you wouldn't want a healing spell to be the one you have on the ready at this time. However, as said before with the Balloon and Curaga with Soraalam's advice out of many others who prefer the same, if you want to make maximum use of this, don't forget to have a Keyblade with a very good boost in magic. And true, what ***** says with using any ranged commands that have fast recovery work very well. Especially Riku's Dark Firaga (I swear Riku gets the most game-breaking shit in this game), so something like Spark Raid is quite dangerous to use unless you're fairly far away and if it makes Julius flinch.

New things I discovered during some rematches: Julius' shockwave punches can be blocked normally. This also includes the shockwaves themselves, so you can do some projectile blocking if you like. Julius' tower dive butt bounce during his electric mode can disable your commands THROUGH AN AURA THAT EXTENDS FROM HIM, meaning HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE TO HIT YOU WITH IT TO DISABLE A COMMAND. To avoid even grazing him, KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR MINIMAP AND DARK ROLL/SUPERGLIDE ACCORDINGLY IN THE BEST DIRECTION YOU CAN TAKE. Julius in his normal state during the early phase will often use his said tower if Sora and Riku are at a high enough elevation, which is what the sides of the arena can cover. Riku can also use Doubleflight to trick Julius' A.I. to do his tower dive onto the upper ledge sides of the area, so this can mean trolling for safety if you're in the center. It turns out, the Attack/Magic Haste stat abilities can increase your reload time for a disabled command. This can be very useful if both are maxed out.

another strategy to avoid his electric mode entirely is to flow motion jump you way up the walls to the highest point on the walls so julius can't reach you, then once the electricity wears off, just jump back down and keep fighting him, it makes it phenomenally easier to survive his electric form if you just stay high off the ground with flow motion jumps

If you happen to be facing Julius after he jumps from high up, you can actually counter his third bounce when he falls on his face. I wouldn't recommend gunning for that counter since it's hard to see him coming down and not get hit, but if you're there anyway you might as well.

Worst boss of any KH game, in my opinion. I lost countless times against the Lingering Will in KH2FM and I was fine with it, it was a very hard boss to beat, but it felt really rewarding to finally beat him. This one on the other hand is just annoying and leaves you no option other than spamming goddamn balloons. I felt relieved to be finally done with it more than anything.

I tried Firaga Burst under his head, because even the big fireball damages the enemy. When Julius does his Punch Combo on Sora, I Block the attack and then Counter Rush right away, because Sora becomes invulnerable when he does the attack and can make Julius flinch. His Puke attack can also Poison or even Confuse you. There come R & R Seal's abilities. =) When he jumps out and then crashes on you, it's most often when you're on a platform. And if he charges up while he's on his last bar of health, he will stay like this until the end.

it is worth noting that if you jump onto the high area's the only one of Julius' attacks that can hit you is his building jump attack which can also be trapped up there as long as jump over the railing, how ever it my cause him to perform the attack more often.

One thing about Julius' "Punch Combo": Sora can avoid damage without using Superglide. Just guard, and on the third or fourth punch, counterattack. Sora may or may not do damage to Julius, but he will be invulnerable for the rest of the combo. It requires good timing, though. (And it's a shame I can't record footage to prove it)

I second this statement. It actually does good damage, and I used it quite often. It does take some decent timing. Too early and he'll get behind you to hit your back. Too late and his wide swings will hit you anyway. The third hit is the one to counterattack

i beat julius and all my commands were curagas. i went overboard with healing and just used regular attacks to kill him. still took ages to beat this guy, but it was fun. also, you forgot to mention that while julius is on his last health bar, he PERMANENTLY enters his "electric mode". (SPOILER AHEAD) that Riku is easier to fight as if you shut Sora down by returning to the end of the game as him, so you don't have to worry at all about the dream time limit.

Now I don't know if this happened with anyone else, but that vomit attack had a weird side effect in my fight against him. I went into that fight with a drop rate of 1.0, he hit me with the vomit and my drop rate actually increased to 1.2. He hit me two more times with it and my drop rate went to 1.4. I nearly dropped out of the fight when I did finally defeat him. Like I said, I don't know if that happened to anyone else or if that is even normal, but it happened with me.

Personally, I use cura since it reloads faster and can still heal a great deal. (Plus cutting reload time and improving healing power basically makes them faster-loading curagas.)

Firaga Burst... get three of those (and 2 curagas) make sure you have fire boost x3, magic boost x3, magic haste x5, and reload boost. (tyranto rex, majik lapin, and another spirit) Trust me, Firaga Burst OWNS all the bosses like nothing. btw, he usually climbs the building more often when you double jump with Riku.

Oh, something I noticed that wasn't mentioned, you can actually knock yourself free from Julius if he nabs you with balloonra and balloonga if you happen to set up balloons just before he gets ya. It saved my hide a few times. I think it's also possible to knock him out of powering up with lightening if you nail him with balloonra quick enough too, but I could be remembering wrong. I'll find out soon enough when I clean him up with Sora later.

I've read somewhere on a forum post that you just shouldn't even bother taking Julius on with Sora, for the Ultima Weapon. That you should just get the Unbound Keyblade from the Secret Portals with Sora. I also managed to defeat Julius as Riku without Once More, though I still have Second Chance and Leaf Bracer.

honestly i used the cheap way to get out of his rage mode. when he went into it i just flow motioned around the battlefield at the highest point. unless you touch the roof of the buildings julius will not use the jump attack. once he's out of it you do have to deal with jump attack to get back in but in my opinion it saves a lot more trouble.

Tip if your having trouble and if you have beaten soras final boss(not stated for spoilers) you will be locked as riku after it forces you to stay as riku and it disables the drop gadge so go to yensids tower and keep killing the mooks out side and step inside to reset the ememys and then go back outside to fight and gain more exp rince and repeat till you get to the level you want This way you level up quickly and the game will stay like this untill you save sora after that the game will return the drop gadge These is no way for sora to do this trick

Alright wanna know my experience with this boss? As Sora i was level 33 going in. I legit had to farm two more jestabockies in order to get more balloonra. i headed into the fight with optimism. I had died about 14 times the 1st time around. during his electric faze, I was really lazy and just glided around until it ended. seeing as i was kind of underleveled my attacks were not doing much. and thank the lord for the once more ability which saved my ass several times over. after defeating him, I went over to riku. For Riku it only took me 3 times to do cause i had finally learned his patterns and stuff. (dark roll made this easy af compared to sors). now thst i had gotten both ultima weapons for both characters i closed the lid of my console and then as i was sitting in my chair i had noticed my catridge popped out. i didnt save afterwards cause im dumb af anc i was so salty. so now i had to re farm jestabocky and ryu dragon to get the needed things for sora and then i had to rebuy dark roll from flick rush. learn from my mistake guys and always save after everything. ;-; but at least the second time around was easier cause i fought with riku and beat him in one go at em. now to get the unbound keyblade. (Btw my grammar is probably very bad but idc)

Toward the end of my fight with Sora vs Julius...Julius never left lightning mode. So I had no choice but to do what I could and attack him. He literally stayed in lightning mode for the whole rest of the battle. I got lucky that I had superglade and when he stopped temporarily I was able to hit...but it was hard as ever to get him. I haven't fought him as Riku, but I think it'll be more challenging considering I don't have superglide.

(Sora) For his punch combo I would block the initial barrage (like the first three or four punches) and use the counter rush. It would last the rest of the combo and I took no damage. Just something else you can do to deal plenty of damage (in the long run).

i only used ballonra once in my entire play through and i did it on Julius, but to be fair, i wasn't using only ballonra, I did use spark dive, thunder dash and shadow breaker as other commands during the fight. When I learned how broken the ability was, I didn't want to use it because I knew it would just break the game all together, so I reserved it just for this one boss fight

Here are my stats for Sora when I beat him: Level: 44 Key Blade: Counterpoint Spirits: --Wheeflower --KO Kabuto --Tyranto Rex Combat Commands: --Balloon --Balloon --Balloonra --Curaga --Firaga --Firaga --Blizzaga --Curaga Action Commands: --High Jump --Payback Raid --Slide Roll --Air Slide ------Sliding Sidewinder --Sonic Impact ------Sliding Sidewinder --Link Block Strategy: Spam all my combat commands except for Curaga as much as I can right after I dodge Julius attack. This was mainly due to using Balloon in a spot that I know he was going to go to. It also took down his HP so fast that it sorta 'skipped' the intervals of HP when Julius activates his Lightning mode. Also by continuing to stun him, it would kind of reset Julius to use ground moves, that way he doesn't jump up to the building which allows me to win without having to rely on Super Glide. This guy got REKT!

I got the barrier for Riku without Flick Rush. In a matter a fact I never played Flick Rush.

By the way, you can use balloon when he climbs up so that way he'll get damaged when he lands on them.

A single guard follow by a counterattack works very well against his combo punch with Sora. :)
