hi! i am looking for a delay...I was planning on buying a Boss DD-7. But then I saw the Space Echo Re-20. I was wondering if the space echo can do the same as de DD-7 and also add extra features? Or for delay you should get DD-7 and for spacey stuff the RE-20? I mean, can I use the basic features of DD-7 on RE-20? (i don't mind the loop function on dd-7 as I already have a looper). Thanx for your time!

Sadly there isn't, that is one of the biggest complaints with this pedal, although the DD3 does not ring out after it is shut off. Granted you're losing features with the DD3

I'm torn between this one and the MXR carbon copy delay pedal. Help! I need opinions. Also, I'm trying to achieve a more spacey kind of sound/noise at times, which is better for that? I know the DD-7 has a lot more to offer, but the MXR has a luscious, sweet and round sound.
@tylerarchey5036
@tylerarchey5036 9 жыл бұрын
Do what I did and get both :p The Carbon Copy has such a beautiful warm sound. Natural is the word I use to describe it. The repeats help paint a beautiful picture of orange and yellow leaves gently falling to earth on an autumn day. As they litter the ground of the peaceful forest suddenly gravity lets go of you, but this surrender feels so peaceful as you float in juxtaposition to the leaves into the deep still beauty of outer space. The dd7 is packed full of features as you see here, and can really help you get some trippy from another planet sounds when combined with other fun effects. Reverse mode is my favorite. I know this doesn't help you pick one but I guess that's the point, it's too hard to just pick one! ;)
@AndroxineVortex

carbon copy has warmer tone but short length. this pedal has a more crisp tonality with longer delay time. i like digital delay better so i would get this and another digital or the carbon. nice to have two delay
@puertecitos6888

+Mulder_01 you can hear the dd7 better while other instruments are playing along . while playing solo, the mxr carbon copy (analog) sounds best but......dd7 has a stereo and analog combination in one pedal....that analog setting sounds almost as good as the carbon copy. dd7 wins. a boss bf3 flanger added to the dd7 can help with the "spacey" sound you're looking for.

Can you use the modulated delay mode as a replacement for a chorus? I want this pedal, but I don't have room for it if I don't take off my chorus pedal.
@sweetwater
@sweetwater 9 жыл бұрын
King Frusciante, the DD-7 Modulated mode definitely does chorus. Whether or not it works for you is a matter of taste. The DD-7 is a 2-voice, digital chorus sound, as opposed to analog, bucket-brigade modulation. Check it out, the DD-7 is a classic and the flexibility is awesome.
@bram3205
@bram3205 9 жыл бұрын
+SweetwaterSound thanks for the reply. I have a Boss CH-1, its a digital chorus I think? but my question is, does the dd-7 do a chorus, or does it put a chorus effect over a delayed sound. If it puts a chorus over a delayed sound, can you turn the delay time down to make it sound just like a normal chorus? Im a starter, so to me a chorus is a chorus, and I dont hear much difference in different chorus pedals so I dont care which chorus I have, I just want one.
@sweetwater
@sweetwater 9 жыл бұрын
+King Frusciante you are absolutely correct in your logic. Shorter delay times on the DD-7's Modulated mode will produce a chorus effect as opposed to a modulated delay sound. You can definitely get a "normal chorus" from the DD-7. Thanks for your question, hope this helps! Don Carr

Hi there! My problem with the dd-8 seems to be finding my way of setting and changing subdivisions WITH MY FOOT... So I need to know : => if i can use the external Footswitch, to tab in a subdivision (e.g. dotted 8th)? => can i do this while i play, without holding for 2 sec first? => can i, by this method, change subdivisions, while playing, by just physically tabbing in their different rythmical signatures (e.g. the "1-2-123" or alternatively the "1-2-3-4-1-234" for the dotted 8th...) at any time? Like, just how Antoine shows it here, @ 01:40m: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmeXaWZ3pp2hnLM I would be grateful for a an informed answer from someone who actually did this... thanxalot^^

Boss DD7's true bypass?
@weynotllandin
@weynotllandin 8 жыл бұрын
No, it's most definitely not. Afaik, Boss compact pedals are buffered bypass, all of them, always. But I did a bit of research and it seems it has complete analog dry through, be it engaged or bypassed. That's also way more important. The buffers in the Boss compact pedal range are usually decent enough.

@sweetwater
@sweetwater Жыл бұрын
Hi, mimoocho dom. You can’t plug a mic directly into the DD7 but there are pedals out there that are specifically designed to interface between a mic and guitar pedals. The Eventide Mixing Link or Radial VocoLoco would both be great options to check out. If you want a delay that is designed to work with a mic, the TC Helicon Voicetone E1 would be your best bet. Does this have a tape delay setting?
@sweetwater
@sweetwater 5 жыл бұрын
Hey, Josh. Thanks for your question! There isn't a tape delay setting on this pedal. There's "analog" which rolls off the highs of the repeats, and "modulate" which pitch alters the repeats for dimension and fattening. The two combined would emulate a tape delay, but in this case they're separate on the Boss. We carry several delays from Wampler, Keeley, JHS and Strymon (among others) that are specifically "tape delay/echo". Please contact me direct if I misunderstood or didn't answer your question. try your local pawnshop cash & loan store. I picked up one at random $90 used mint condition without box/manual was looking for dod icebox-analog chorus close to the boss ce5 chorus ensemble. ebay/reverb.com has them occasionally at good price like what I paid used. You need snag it up when you find at low price.

Ebay is worth try for a used version, perhaps go for an earlier version, say the DD3. While not cheap, I don't see it as crushingly expensive though. The Waza pedals I think are the expensive ones.
