Thanks Brett you crammed some sound into this session. You gave me some great ideas as to how I run my signal chain. Some things are just common sense but I followed every little bit logged into the ES-8 mate you nailed it, what an awesome piece of kit. You introduced me to liquid ambience......same thing gotta have the detail. Great work mate you make every word just like everyday sense and no dry as a bone lifeless words. Between yourself and Pete Thorn I'm where I want to be within the sound.

Picked up a Cali76 CD because of this video. Great unit for not only compressing but for sweetening your sound. And very transparent. Oh and due to this video the Boss Es-8 as well. lol
@FatBoy7.3Powerstroke12 күн бұрын
I had to order the Cali76 compact deluxe after watching a few hours of videos on it, The dry control is what seems to keep the real sound while it’s compressing the signal. That’s a very organic feature to have on a compression pedal IMO. I already have 2 modified MXR dyna comps, a stock dyna comp, the super comp and a Boss CS-3, none of them let the clean notes reach the volume it should and result in a squished sound that truly robs some of the amps natural tone. I have an Orange MK2 100 watt Rockerverb that sounds fantastic by itself but being a Tube Amp it needs something to calm down the imperfections and volume spikes. Man this is such a great video to bring to light how to connect all the pedals together and simplify using them in the order desired and in parallel or series. This ES-8 is on the top of the priority list, I haven’t been able to find a way to utilize my pedalboard the way it can be without dancing on the pedals and that never works out too good. Awesome Video, Great Sounds, Great Display and Cool Channel… Cheers from Fort Mitchell, Alabama in the USA!!

always wanted to leard to play guitar since I was a young boy - now I'm an old man and the last thing I want to do is learn to play guitar. I invested in a good guitar and amp, got a pedalboard some effects similar to what you have, with the last 3 being strymon (timeline) (Mobius) (Big sky) have it all set up with a Boss ES-8, I'm learning but I would love to see you do the MIDI episode you talked about. Sounds Great

Great video. I have the gigrig g2 at the moment and love it. I like this but as always I still see the downside. They need to put a small screen above each foot switch so everything is named and when you bank up or down it switches so you know what everything is. Also I think it needs more than 8 inputs really. Other than that it's excellent. Let's hope they release an updated version or an even more pro version. At least they have released a small version of the Cali 76 finally !!! Woooo

@brent kingman What kind of plugs & patch cables are you running out of the back of the ES-8? I'm instant on soldering my cables but the trade off is it seems that only the solder-less cables have small plugs. I don't need Lava Cable small but your plugs look considerably smaller than my GLS 1/4"s. I have pancake plugs for my pedals but obviously the ES-8 requires straight plugs for the loops section.

I wonder if it is possible to program two of the mono loops into one stereo loop...? I need a switcher with three stereo loops. Unless I spend $1200 on a Gigrig G3, nothing seems to have more than two stereo loops.
@bubba20269 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info Brett. I've been looking for a pedal switcher for a little while now, and your video really helps me decide on spending a bit more for this model. I'm looking forward to your "102" video for midi control. I'm wondering if Boss or Eventide have better info on how to get the Eventide under control for creating presets. I've been using my iPad to control my Eventide H9 for about a year, but I like the idea of controlling it via the Boss es. Thanks again. Happy new year.

I wonder if a device like this or the EHX Super Switcher could have say, four loops connected and controlled by the first four switch channels, and then the second four channels going via MIDI to a MIDI enabled amp like a Boss Katana MkII so it could select from a few patches...? Is that something doable? If nobody knows, I'll let you know in a few weeks. I have a second Katana 100 MkII head coming to go stereo with my first one, and I'm getting either a Boss ES-8 or EHX Super Switcher to go on my pedal board soon after that, and I will configure it exactly like I said, four loops on the board and hopefully four different patches in the Katana's. We'll see what happens.

Awesome Demo!!! If your able to answer me; I have a couple of question regarding the effect loop of the amp and noise suppression. Does the ES-8 have the ability to route pedals thru the efx loop?If you use a nose gate, noise suppressor, or any other kind noise reduction pedal; how are you using the with the ES-8 and if not, how would you recommend using such pedals with the ES-8? Again, Awesome Demo.Thanks David

Question about the ES - 5. I am planning on getting a switcher. My chain is the following: Tuner - TC spark mini booster (loop 1) - Drive pedal (loop 2) - Delay pedal (loop 3) - Tremolo pedal (loop 4) - Reverb pedal (loop 5) I have a dual drive pedal that I like to mod with a TRS connection so I can control my 2 pedals independed. Can I use the ext ctl to connect this via the TRS connection so i can control the 2 sides of the pedal via this way?

***** Great Demo Man! I am thinking of getting me one of these as well, but there are some things i was not able to figure out yet... Maybe you could take a short look at the MIDI controlling of the es8? Especially in consideration of the MIDI-routing and how to wire that whole thing up and which possibilities you have via MIDI??? And is it possible to extend the es8 via midi (e.g. with the midi4x from GLab)? and how could that all possibly work out? Thanks for your help! kind regards, joe

SO, IF you wanted to use a BOSS NS-2 and you have 3 different overdrives, how would you assign the NS-2 to work with the all of them. I don't need to combine the overdrives. Just always have the NS-2 with the overdrives only.

Thanks for this video! It's not too long and gives a good idea about the possibilities of the system. One question: Are the changes of preset immediate? I just tried the tc electronic g-system for a few days and decided to send it back because it actually takes some time for the effects to kick in when you change preset, which I cannot afford in the band I'm playing. I'm considering buying this, but I'd like to know if I won't have the same problem.

great video! I was curious cause I'm considering getting one of these. My amp has 5 external channel switching jacks. I noticed this unit has 3 external control jacks but for each jack it says it controls 2. Would something like a single to dual trs cable to be used to control 2 channels from 1 jack? Hope that makes sense..
@ElliotStent9 жыл бұрын
Interested in getting one of these, but I'm curious about how you are able to run certain pedals through the ES8 and the amp's effects loop at the same time? So basically, I understand that you can just put pedals like an overdrive, distortion, compressor or wah into the ES8 like demonstrated in the video, as they are pedals that you'd typically run through the front of the amp, but how would you put modulation and delay/reverb type pedals through an amp's effects loop whilst making sure that they go through the ES8 so that you can switch them in and out like the others? I'm sure it's an easy solution that i've totally missed, but I really have no clue how I'd wire this thing up that way. Great video btw Brett, you definitely know your stuff! :)
