Boss GX-100 2.0 Firmware update... You'll like this

In this video I take you guys through 3 presets I've created using some of the new gear we get in the 2.0 update. I really like the direction Boss went in for this update. I definitely think the GX100 has been made more premium for its price point.

The GX100 is such a sleeper unit. It takes drive pedals well and has great feel. My rig: Wampler Pantheon dual drive> Boss GX100 > Eventide H90 > JBL 12" powered monitors.

Andy, you’re a man after my own heart… I run a DGT SE through the GX100. This is a very welcome upgrade making this unit feel more up to date. So more amps, FX and they integrated the IR loader, it now holds its own against other models. I expanded mine by pushing a Tonex one through the Fx loop (1000s of capture and amps). My favourite feature - how responsive and dynamic it feels.

@@steved1099 nice dude! Interesting to hear how to also use external pedals too! I’ve never tried it! Yes dude! The DGT is an unbelievable guitar for the money. I’ve just picked up a SE custom 2408… it feels like the exact same quality as the DGT, just with a different neck and pups.

@andydavid9 saw the 2408, looks great... been a strat guy for decades but really into the PRSs now. I know you're more a stomp XL player now but the GX100 paired with a tonex one really opens it up. 1000s of amps/captures can be loaded in (tonex one holds 20 amps / captures but can be exchanged). Also can be dual amped with the Boss amps AND frees up DSP if you need it for stacking delays/OD etc. For £150 it's added LOTS of sounds. Studio Rats did a clip on the full tonex with GX100 (tonex one is identical sound but no screen and less buttons). 👍

@@steved1099 thanks dude! I’ll check it out! I’ve actually sold my HX after going back over to the GX. After having a long time away from it, I’m now feeling more response and dynamics from the GX. I put the money towards the 2408

Lets see how works...i have this unit... but tempting going for a helix lt...im feeling that prefer have more variety of amps,pedals...we will see. This unit is amazing

Sometimes more isn't better. I have a pod go and never use it now I have the GX100. I know the helix LT has more than pod go. But the GX100 have all the tones and FX I need, great response and feel thanks to AIRD. Also if you need more, what I did was put a tonex one in the FX loop, so now I have 1000s of amps and captures as well.... still cost much less than a helix

No one has definitively answered if they have fixed impulse response on the GX-100 with update. According to what I read, IRs didn't sound right on the GX-100 before.

I haven’t tried it yet (will do Saturday night) but they have put the IR loader into the main studio app now and not in a separate loader.. so they clearly have addressed this. Fingers crossed all solved as this would be huge (although I’m a big fan of AIRD standard sounds)

Yep, all fixed.. they load no problem now and it's all integrated into the studio app. Tried 3 IRs really easy to load now

impressive playing! But in my opinion the sounds are a bit too artificial - I don't know how to describe it... it sounds like an old speaker emulation.. they are too dark and "smooth"...

@@cedricrazafitrimo8550 thanks dude! Funnily enough when I went back to the GX after more than a year of not playing through it, I noticed how well it captured the dynamics in my playing. The other thing I’ve noticed is that the GX seems to have a nicer balance between neck and bridge pickup when using overdrive. I had recently started to find it hard to get a tone from the HX that I felt was balanced well when switching from neck to bridge. I still think the HX stomp is a fantastic unit, and some of the delays and reverbs I think possibly have the edge over the GX but I saw the HX stomp XL for £800 in my local guitar shop… I don’t think think it’s worth that price. I sold mine so I could buy that PRS at the beginning of the video 🤘🏼

@@andydavid9 I totally agree regarding the Gx's feel and Dynamic, plus we can expect (Hope) more updates now that Boss seems to finally change the way they're considering their products by enhancing them. Better late than never lol. Gx's a bloody bargain, can't wait for the next flagship to come. Line 6 Hx stomp can mimic Chass Bliss delays stuff, tracking's better regarding pitch effects (thx J. Cordy) but it has a sheen that doesn't make the pick attack AND the volume knob roll as sensitive as in the Gx. Keep on doing your videos Andy !
