In this video, I demo all of the amp models on the Boss GX-100.
Here is what Boss says about the GX-100.
Fusing advanced BOSS tone technologies into a sleek, ultra-modern hardware design, the inspiring GX-100 delivers top-level performance everywhere you play. Explore 23 AIRD amplifiers and over 150 effects derived from the flagship GT-1000, and craft great sounds in seconds with the intuitive color touch display. Up to 15 simultaneous effect blocks provide unlimited tone possibilities, coupled with deep real-time command via onboard footswitches, an expression pedal, and external control support.
The Studio Rats are core band members Paul Drew on guitar/production/mixing, drummer James Ivey and Dan Hawkins on bass. They collaborate with singers and musicians to produce radio-ready songs.

I've had helix, headrush, kemper, axefx etc and honestly I never considered a boss unit. I tried my friends out and couldn't believe how easy I got the sound I wanted. Fancy names of amps and pictures of the amps don't mean a thing... this thing is the real deal. just use your ears.

In the review from Anderton’s, they mentioned that there was no 5150 model. Listening to this review, I’m not missing it. It’s 16 February, 2024 as I comment, and I might grab one of these today. If I do, i’m just stoked to try my hand at emulating the mid-boosted, compressed electric guitar tone created by Tom Scholz of Boston in the late 70s. I’ve been using a different Japanese-manufactured stomp box to get that tone (the Goat Generator from Rancher). I like it, but it’s a little bit “out of control” (white noise if you lower your guitar volume like Tom Scholz, Brian May and Terry Kath for cleaning up, and it is occasionally too trebly). Also taking into account that it’s got an external expression pedal input, it would also be neat to make an attempt at emulating a different Boston device, the Hyperspace pedal. That particular device involves controlling an echoplex’ feedback and delay time in realtime.

Looks a bit strange BOSS still uses Mic type and position and speaker type while modelling a PREAMP same time as all concurrent labels already use IRs. It makes GX-100 more clear for 'old school' guitar players who came directly from GTs... But I'm confused how to play with this processor into real power amp with guitar speakers. Seems the best gear for it to hear yourself is a pair of active monitors or a keyboard combo.
@TheStudioRats
@TheStudioRats 3 ай бұрын
I’m not sure you understand what an IR is. Boss’s use of being able to move the mic position is more advanced that a flat IR. You wouldn’t use an IR plugged into anything but a FRFR type speaker or direct to recording, same with Boss’s ir tech.
@DmitriSkif
@DmitriSkif 3 ай бұрын
@@TheStudioRats , I'm clear with that and both technologies are not compatible with live guitar amps with guitar speakers. Strange to see BOSS hasn't divided preamp and power section with speakers into separate blocks, as all modulation like reverb or delay better to be placed before the PA.

My sustain just cuts right off and I’m using two core PRS’s 594 and a custom 24-08 core. My Kirt Hammet Ltd 602 even cuts right off. So what setting needs to changed because I don’t see a sound gate in any of the presets. Hope it’s ok that I asked you. Playing through a PRS HDRX 20 into a 2x12 Marshall …Thanks James

Did you ever figure out your issue? The only thing I can think of is your input gain may need to be raised or your output setting may need to be changed. If there isn't a noise gate, I'm not sure what else could affect your signal. Maybe the expression pedal is set low?

Hi What is the editor your are using? A special one for the GX? Because it do not look like the same as the GT-1000 editor… Thanks

It's the Boss Tone Studio for GX-100 with the sides cropped out.

Right now I am shopping multi-fx pedals. The market is saturated with them, I don't know which one to buy. From the Zoom G5N and G11 to the Boss GT-1000 and Line 6 Helix, they all produce great sounds. I am not sure the upper end will give me $1000 more value. The options on the GT-1000 are amazing though. The $500 range is tempting, but i might as well go all in at that point. I still watch videos that keep me looking at that darn Zoom G5N!

Really and honestly feelwise brilliant. So immediate and natural response. Give it a try and save money. Even from the Helix the big one i felt disconnected from playing. Not natural and immediate response.

Are you referring to the Zoom G5N?

@@Nightwinflyer No, there is no comparison. GX 100 all the way.l Im not a fanboy. Im 51....tried a lot. But the GX 100 is really good. Zoom in my opinion feels sometimes more like the ME 80 if you know what i mean.

@@Nightwinflyer But buy whatever makes YOU happy and you can afford. If the unit is pulling you into playing not tweaking, then everything is at its meant to be.
