I think the Boss GT 1000 and GX 100 are the most underrated modellers on the market.

Lots of folks listen with their eyes for sure. I've owned modelers from several brands (hardware and software)....it all sounds amazing. It really has been great since the very first POD. I write and record songs and at the end of the day I can't tell what guitars I used or whether I used real amps or modeling unless I go back and read my notes.

Not sure if you can hear it but it doesn't sound the same as previous Boss modellers such as GT series. ME-90 also sounds better than previous Boss modellers.

@@pramkriuk These are not new amp models. They have been available in other Boss products before. Only the form factor has changed. It’s no different from the new Pod Express using the same models from the Helix. Companies reuse the same R&D work for as many products as possible

Hi, thanks for the useful explanation and sound demo. The one thing I find lacking is a balanced output for going direct to a PA. Do you think that you can use the headphones out with an adapter for this purpose?

It depends on what you are plugging it into, but there's no reason to use the headphone amp. To start with, its probably "stereo" and has 2 channels of signal. Use the regular output. If you need balanced, that's something else. If your mixer requires a balanced signal, then you need to use a DI box for it to work. Balanced and single ended components are not compatible. Something has to be done to make them work. The DI box will make both ends of the connection balanced. If you mixer gives you the choice to use balanced or single ended components, use a single ended input. There's more than one way to deal with this issue, so you'll need to check your owners manual and make the connection however they tell you to. There's usually some type of switch or procedure you need to use, so check the manual. As far as an adaptor goes, you need to be careful. A balanced connection has 2 hot conductors (++) and a ground (-). Single ended connection has just one hot. (+ and -). Most adaptors combine the extra signal needed for a balanced signal with the ground. So, if you plug an adaptor like this into a component that outputs a balanced signal, you create a short circuit. You can use adaptors, but you have to know what you're doing. Figure out exactly how each component works first. Once you have that information, then decide how you are going to wire the connection. I know some people use adaptors and get lucky, but I wouldn't take that chance. A short circuit can damage your equipment. This type of information should be in your owners manual. If you do whatever the manual says, you'll be fine. Otherwise you need to do some research.
