Just in case anyone is confused like I was... The latest firmware version for the RC-5 and RC-500 is 1.1 - its 1.3 for the RC-505 and RC-600). However, 1.1 was also released this month and included the tempo calculation method and other fixes.

Aaaww yeah 🍻, I'll come here to stay up to date with all things related to looping. The RC-600 mixer feature is what I've been waiting for (and intuitively searched for at first). Wonder if the RC-600 hardware can support IR loading and if they'd be willing to add it in a future update... or would it cannibalize other BOSS product sales too much😅 That would make it one of the most valuable guitar related products on the market for me. Maybe next Christmas. Santa plz 🎅

Dear Santa… 🎅 🤣 Think that this is why they supply some effects but not all. But then you would need more buttons anyways to control that. So better off with a separate box for that like a 1000CORE or dedicated machine so it doesn’t put too much stress on the one box.

Hi John Paul! Thanks for your videos they are so helpful! I’m trying to decide whether to update firmware to 1.3 on my rc600, but I’m nervous about the tempo thing. I don’t have any presets and just just a single memory to loop freely usually starting with creating a percussion loop on track one using my guitar which then sets the tempo and sends out midi clock to a Maschine plus. Am I right in thinking that if I upgrade to 1.3, the tempo will automatically be adjusted to whatever the the bpm is saved as on the memory? If so, do you know if there is a work around so I can continue to just loop freely and set the tempo as I play? Any advice would be most appreciated! Cheers!

Hey 👋 So first of all the RC-600 is now on version 1.4 . Just to let you be aware, I loop in exactly the same way you do where I record a because of loop with my guitar to set the tempo. This hasn’t changed and it still works in this way . The upgrade is under the hood about how the unit dictates the tempo. I have been using 1.3 and 1.4 and the process we both used to create a because of loop hasn’t changed. There is always a BPM associated with a memory, but as soon as you record your first loop, it will take that recording as the length of the BPM . Maybe the description of the update is just scaring people (myself included) off, as it kinda suggests that if you record a because of loop then it will automatically adjust the tempo. So glad we have experts like yourself to clarify! Thanks again!

Hi John, thank you always for your precious videos about Boss products. I wanted to ask you a question: I also recently purchased a Ve 500 for vocals, but I had the impression that the compressor present in the Rc-600 is superior to that of the Ve-500. Furthermore, again in relation to the Ve 500, I believe that the pitch correction is a little imprecise and that perhaps the only excellent thing is the Harmony section which seems to me better than the Rc-600. Precisely for this reason I would like to sell this machine and keep only the Rc-600. Do you have any suggestions about this?

I can’t let go of my Tc-helicon Voicelive play because of harmony. The RC-600 only has harmony by midi or setting a key, it doesn’t have natural play or auto key harmony, which is a shame. Also be careful if you are using your VE-500 and then applying compression to that, especially if there are effects like reverb etc.. might make it sound weird. But yes the comp on the 600 is good. I would have the VE-500 and the RC-600 together and married up via midi so when you make a loop, the VE-500 pics up on the tempo and matches the bpm. 👍🏻

@@JohnPaulMusicUK Thanks for the reply ! 😉 So, would you suggest I keep the ve 500, or give it up and get a separate harmonizer like Tc Helicon for example? I think that really, and at present, the Ve 500 could only be useful for harmonies, given that the RC 600 already has very satisfactory sounds for the voice. Ps. the alternative to the tc voice live play could be the tc Helicon Gtx which also has midi, but is difficult to find..

To me it seems more stable and yes it’s down to your timing for pressing the pedals to calculate the time

For the RC-600 Connect USB cable to your PC. -Press Menu -Page right, -Press USB -Click the Storage knob -You should see the RC-600 Folder on your PC. -Open it and Drag and drop the Roland folder to your PC -To restore drag the Roland folder from your PC to the RC-600
