I just got my 600, and being an analog pedalboard user have been baffled with getting around on this amazing piece of gear. Thanks for sharing your approach to accessing and use of the FX in a straight forward and easy to understand way. I look forward to more of your videos....

Congrats Ken, it is an amazing piece of gear. Thanks for the kind words. It does take some getting acquainted with the switched and accessing the various menu pages. Seems I’m learning new tricks everyday I use the 600.

Another great vid approaching the guitar side of this. I have my DS before the amp. I never even thought to put it after as a boost like an amp. I've gotten a pretty good heavy sound going to my 2 amps in stereo, with the metal setting on the DS and the combo amp for the amp. The metal setting on lower gain seems to be thicker and works well for me. I'm also using the sustainer after that for a lead punch up. I also got a great sounding stereo clean but I was having a bit of a problem getting a nice rock crunch sound. From the sound of this vid, you got it so I'll try the DS boost after the amp. I remember years ago on one of the Boss GT-100 sites where some guitar players were having a hard time getting a good realistic sound from the pedal going to their amps and even though sound is subjective, the problem was quickly solved in the group when someone said, turn off your speaker sim when going to the amp. This seems to be the same with the RC 600 or at least it is for me when going to the return of my amps. However, at times I still forget to turn that speaker sim on and off when switching from going to the PC , to the amps or vice versa. And yup, great guitar sound in this vid. I also have a strat so it's great to see one being used here as well :)

Yes, the cabinet simulation can mess with your signal going into an amp. I did the same years ago with my first POD, it sounded terrible through an amp! I usually liked it direct while recording though. Over the years, I've done a lot more playing direct on small restaurant gigs and such, it can sound ok if you play clean. Distortion is always the hardest thing to get right, and to make it feel/sound natural to YOU is harder. I love my little Joyo pedal for direct but I am very surprised the RC sounds this good. I know when I plug into a real amp though, the preamp setting will have to go! Thanks TShawn for chiming in, appreciated!

I got my RC600 a week ago, to supplement my acoustic project. As I was fooling around I came across the pre amps. I was pleasantly surprised at the sound and spent more time playing around with it than I thought I would. I now have some new ideas for songs.

@@NickleRock very cool. The preamp seems flexible enough to use on multiple instruments. Great to hear it inspired you to be creative!

I would like to thank you for the hours you have put into these videos. I still have a little trouble figuring between the mode pedals and the assigned pedals Hope I can figure it out. Thanks!

Thanks scoots! I have my mode pedal set to switch 1-2-3. That way I don’t have to second guess as much what mode I’m in. I set mode 2 and 3 to be input FX and track FX. Mode 1 is for playback only. I do record loops in mode 1 and reprogram the switches to playback only when I’ve finished a patch. Time consuming but it works for me. I think that’s maybe the best part of the 600, the ability to reprogram switches to make your own setup. I think I read the manual for a month!

Thanks again for your magnificent video, if I understand correctly everything here sounds without taking a real amplifier, it is for when we are going to work taking the signal directly to a PA or a sound card, correct? And if I have also understood correctly, then you say that in a future video you will do this, right? For me it would be fantastic if you did it like this in that video, canceling the preamp of the Rc 600, and how I have also read here cancel the simul cab too. That would, in my opinion, give a clear idea of the level of sound quality of the effects. It would be equally great if the effects sound could be fed again from the real amp to the Rc 600 via its two mic inputs, but I don't know if this can be done live without causing feedback.

Yes, that was my intention. I wasn’t sure I was clear enough in the other videos. I wanted to demonstrate if the RC could be used ALONE on a gig, or for recording. No other pedals. I believe it can, easily. Of course, I think a lot of players will choose using it along with their current pedalboard and effects. Yes the next video I’ll run it into an amp. The miked amp idea is interesting, I’ll have to think on that. Thank you Emilio.

@@LRCDetroit Thanks for answering, I'm glad I understood well then, and what I liked the most was hearing you say near the end of the video that your final conclusion was good in order to use the pedal alone. I'm very happy about that you consider interesting miking the amp with the two XLR inputs of the Rc 600, because if it's possible, I think that this way you can make tracks with maximum quality. And besides, I haven't seen anyone do it, not even propose it.

Thanks so much for your work and videos! They really do help a lot! One question, can the effects be assigned specifically for a certain input channel? I mean, all your effects were for guitar, but what If I want to have a bank for voice and a other for bass guitar, knowing already that they will come through the same inputs, can I just assign Bank A to XLR 1, Bank B to XLR 2, Bank C for Inst. Input 1? Thanks!
@LRCDetroit
@LRCDetroit Жыл бұрын
Hi Luis-sorry I missed your question. I believe you can do that. It’s a great idea too! The input assignments might be global but I will check. Glad you found the video helpful.

Is there any command in ctr fnc or assigns in Rc 600 to activate certain input bank on a push of a pedal? I could not find one. If there was such command life would have been not so disfunctional. I could just assign the corresponding "activate input fx bank x" command to the play track pedal and the pedal would play the track and activate corresponding input fx bank at the same time. There are only input bank on/off, and inc/dec commands. They dont help. Do you know anything about coding the system for these pedals. Is making a command to activate certain input fx bank on press of a pedal so difficult? If it can be done when using external fx pedal, can you suggest any video link on how to do that?

Thank you for these videos! The RC600 is quite a confusing but amazing machine. How are you hearing the effects before playback though? On my machine, I cant hear the effects until after they are recorded onto a track. Is there a setting I can change that would allow me to use these effects without recording them first? That would be incredibly useful if so. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. And again, thank you for these informative videos!

Thank you! Sounds like you are listening the your TRACK FX instead of INPUT FX. Remember, the RC600 has both. Track fx are applied to the loop after you record, and can be switched on/off. Input fx are applied to your input whether it's guitar, bass, voice etc. They can be switched on/off as well. If you have not read the parameter guide, it's A MUST. There is a good diagram inside that refers to the factory layout of the pedal modes so you can clearly see how to turn either effect mode on and off. Here is the link on the Boss website static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/RC-600_Parameter_eng03_W.pdf Good luck!

It seems fairly obvious but the signal flow on input FX is always A->B->C->D? I tried to confirm this with the manual and parameter guide and couldn't find anything.

Yes, I believe it is preset in that order. It isn't obvious either, LOL...they should have been clear about it in the manual or parameter guide!

Could you make a video with Rc600 and Akai force. How it could be possible to control the force with the midi of RC 600 for example. Thank you
@LRCDetroit
@LRCDetroit 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I can. I tried yesterday and had some luck syncing them together through USB coming out of the RC. The Force has been responding well to start and stop either from the rhythm or loop. I’m terrible with MIDI so I’m pleased to say it works!
