I purchased this pedal a little while ago and put it on my secondary board. Whilst my main board has a big sky I have to say I am quite a fan of the RV. I really like how much easier the display is to use and understand. I also really like how it only requires 225mA to run so I can plug it right into my voodoo labs with the rest of my board instead of needing a whole separate power supply to power the 500mA big sky. After fooling around with it for a while you can make sounds that sound just as good as the big sky. I am tired of people bashing products just because they are from different companies. It's the musician who is in charge of their gear and how their tone sounds in the end. I'm also not saying that one is better than the other. I am saying that there are pedals on the market now that are just as good but not as expensive. In the end it always comes down to personal preference, so I'd highly recommend going out and trying each pedal for yourself and choose the one that feels right for you.

The routing’s what sold me - I run I/O A at the start of my rig and I/O B at the end, so Bank A’s full of reverbs and delays that run before fuzzes for shoegaze and Bank B’s for Long atmospheric stuff that everything runs into

wait - you mean you run it so you basically have two separate reverb pedals in one box?? Why have I not seen anybody mention this before?!

Asillyhobo agree. They take a while to modernize sometimes. My comment was almost as much to myself as all the other haters out there. I had boss in the beginning, I moved to more "boutique" pedals for a while, now I have a mix of both.

+Dave Kuhn Dave, are you mad because you bought a BigSky and something newer/nicer came along? It's nobody's fault but your own if you can't accept that Boss just gave Strymon a big run for their money. You haven't played this pedal in person. Your opinion is moot.

I love the 500 line. While I stand strong in my opinion that the Eventide Space is the best pedal reverb, the DD-500 is an excellent contender for best big-box delay, and I don't think an argument can be made that the MD-500 is superseded by the Möbius or Modfactor.

QUESTION: Is ping-pong delay available on this unit? (I see nothing about it in the RV-500 manual, but there are probably a lot of options that are visible only on the unit.) Thanks!

So I'm looking at using this as my only reverb and delay an I'm really curious about the delay options. What kinds of delay are available and what subdivisions are there? Also if I use the dual reverb could I put a delay with each one and have two running at the same time?
@meulia
@meulia 4 жыл бұрын
Each reverb is accompanied with optional and separated delay function. It;s a standard boss clean delay type for each reverb with subdivision and beats per minute. Boss is also generous to add one modulation control you may use (I believe it's chorus-soundalike). If you use dual reverb, you can add both with two delays with different settings, so if you choose to activate both A and B, it will run simultaneously.

Thats dope! However a lot of the videos Andy plays sweet riffs from songs. Some of which I find really cool and would love to know where they came from, so I can listen to the songs myself and maybe even learn the riffs/songs. I feel like it wouldn't be too difficult to at least just list them in the description of each video :). I've noticed a good amount of other people commenting on the pedal demos about what songs Andy was playing. Anywho, great demo! I'm dying to get this pedal.

@softlightsymphonyband 7 жыл бұрын
Dave Kuhn that "magic" you mention is a very recognizable tonal artifact that I call the "Strymon effect". It is unmistakable and makes everyone who uses them sound like clones of each other. There are so many videos out there with guys endlessly playing volume swells thru a bigsky (Zzzzzzzzzz) and pat themselves on the back at how "ambient" they are. Sort of jumped the shark at this point...
