I will admit, I do like swarms of things... lol. As for "improvements" I wouldn't change much personally, maybe make them a little longer but thinner, adding more thrusters so they're more maneuverable, but essentially the same kind of design.

That's a good point. If they were a bit long they would be more nimble in rotation and could probably side-strafe faster.

More thrusters facing forward to prevent ramming. Allows more railgun shots to hit.

angled armor should really be practical and refreact types of shots

Would be cool, but also really hard to code in, because a ricochet mechanic is an absolute pain to make. Making it exclusive to only angled pieces would be a headache because you can basically just tilt a ship with armor wedges by 45 degrees and basically turn it into a straight slab of armor which can obviously not reflect a shot in real life. So would be more effort than It's worth.

I don't believe it's that hard ^^ it's just more work which is always a problem for itself.. calculating that can be based on normal vectors and chances and interactions can be based on a relation between angle, projectile type and projectile speed at the time of impact

It will still most likely not get added because not only do angled armor already have pretty good amount of both aesthetic and practical uses, nor would it affect many interactions directly (Or there might be an even worse, opposite effect where it affects ship interactions too much, causing the game's entire meta to collapse at worst). Though, I still can't deny that it would be really sweet to see projectiles flying off ships in fights, especially with the new sweet visuals and particle effects the official Steam release of Cosmoteer added in...

@@NickAndriadze i would guess eventually it will be added ^^ shifting Meta is normally even a desired effect. But things like performance boosts especially in astroid fields will be way more up in priority 😊

@@NickAndriadze Instead of a ricochet you could calculate damage to include the angle of a surface compared to the impacting shot. Then a shot does slightly more damage at 90 degrees and slightly less at say 25 degrees or less.

I'd like to see a swarm of small ships with a central ion beam and two disruptors.Have them fire at each other's prisms to link up, while the disruptors stunlock the enemy.

Think except point def, the rest of the weapons can only fire upon 1 target as a whole. The movements cause the ship to keep changing target. Need an improvement to AI targeting multi targets before high value ships is can win swarms in single battle. A con of swarm is that you need to construct new ships instead of repair, so it can be very expensive to maint.

The swarm is *very* enjoyable! I'd pitch giving each of them 1-2 electro-bolters. Railguns seem to have difficulty penetrating shields. Some electro bolters, even poorly powered, could probably strip away that first layer of shields so that the railguns can punch deep right away even against heavily shielded ships.

Really if you want to go cheap you should try to use as few doors and corridors as you possibly can, so don't put corridor in-between stuff as I said here: forum.cosmoteer.net/d/4578-dos-and-don-ts-for-building Also in creative mode you can press enter to make ships move to their destinations immediately. And just so you know friendly fire is not a thing you *EVER* have to worry about, it's just not a thing in this game.
