Second story. The OP isn't the jerk and yea I think it is time to find another therapist because the one she is using is probably just feeding her excuses as to why she shouldn't go to work or even do any household chores for that matter, just making the wife feel like a helpless victim that constantly needs to go back to her therapist, just so that the therapist can make just as much money as he/she could.

Story 2: Clearly this therapist is milking OP and his wife. Five years, yet the wife is “still unwell enough to return to work”? I would report the therapist, and light a fire under the wife’s ass, “Back to work, or I divorce you.” She can ease into it as a substitute teacher.

Story 4: Kelly sounds like she just wants to use her sister as a punching bag to make herself look cool and isn’t defending her from any bullies including herself. What makes siblings so great is that most of the time we can have terrible fights and issues but still love each other and will protect each other at a moment’s notice. I think they should do whatever it takes to rekindle that bond because if no one tries to heal it it can disappear quick.

Story 1: That was some good revenge on these idiots, but i would've gone further and reported them to the labour board and probably the taxman too. They love sinking their teeth into shady places like this one. Hopefully the OP has a much better job now. Story 2: I'm torn on who the bigger jerk is between the wife and the therapist. The OP is absolutely not a jerk. Hes going to work himself to death at the rate he is going with the amount of hours he's working. Im not sure what his job is, but that's both unhealthy and dangerous to work that much, willing or not. Whiel it does suck the wife had a breakdown a few years ago, it really sounds like she (and the therapist) are using it as an excuse and cop out to both not go back to any kind of work or maybe schooling, and use it as some sort of weapon against the OP. I can totally see why he finally snapped at her. Im sure a lot of people would have too. Story 3: Honest mistakes can happen.... take a chill pill, Karen! Geez....why threaten to call corporate then reject the number? People are just so stupid, it hurts. Story 4: Okay, what in the hell is wrong with Kelly? She is a sad excuse for a human being, much less a sibling. She was the one spreading rumours about Nina, causing her to have worse bullying? And then basically downplays it when at home to the OP and the wife? I would be wanting to kick her out too. I was originally going to be slinging mud at Anna too, but i dont think she's a jerk, since it looks like Kelly was only telling her parts of what happened and not honest on the rest. OP's house, OP's rules. Dont like he has a right/duty to parent? Then dont live there.

Story 2: If OP's wife has been getting therapy for several years now but that therapy hasn't made any headway at all on her being able to take the steps needed to get back some quality of life, not just her going back to work even if it were only part-time, but her actively working on bettering her poor mental health, then I dare say that therapist isn't doing what is best for their client. Unfortunately, there are people who work as therapists who will tell clients what they think they need to hear just so the client will continue coming back to them. That's why so many qualified and licensed therapists will encourage people to find the right fit for them. Not every councillor, psychologist, or physiatrist will mesh well with you, and you have to be able to build some semblance of trust and comfort to allow yourself to openly speak with said therapist. There's every chance OP's wife's therapist is just reinforcing negative behaviour, thoughts, etc. so that she continues booking appointments, there's also every chance that OP's wife only hears what she wants to hear at the appointments and no matter how blunt or clear the therapist is in finding strategies that may work for her, OP's wife just refuses to acknowledge or try them. Either way, OP needs to come to a decision whether he wants to continue supporting and taking care of someone who clearly is struggling but doing little to help herself, or does he want to cut his losses regarding the already fractured relationship and reduce his hours at work to limit the chances of him getting burn out too.

On the last story... The stepparent has the right to coparent, meaning they need to discuss the issue with the actual parent and come up with acceptable action together. Otherwise, the child will resent the stepparent. Having been a stepchild who dealt with this kind of thing, I was often pointed to as the problem when I hadn't done anything and my stepfather punished me severely, even by old fashioned standards. ( 9 year old girls don't know how to mow lawns so I was given a pair of scissors. I was also kicked with steel toed boots, smacked around with a brush, all kinds of undignified and cruel things in the name of discipline and ALWAYS when my mom wasn't around. However, my brothers, his natural kids, could do no wrong. I don't just resent that stepfather... I FLAT OUT DETEST HIM. If the purge existed, his abusive name is at the top of my list!

Story 1: Ha, they talk about op being Disloyal where the company's higher ups are the one not loyal to anyone but themselves. Story 2: Yeah, get a different therapist. Also, her saying that she and her therapist thinking it's not the right time for her to go back to work definitely sounds like only op's wife is the one saying it, not the both of them. Plus, I know this is going to be sexist, but it feels like having a female therapist working with the wife will lean more on what the wife wants than what benefits both of them. Start throwing ultimatums about replacing the therapist and go back to work or start seeing lawyers about divorce. So tough love is need for your wife if you want to continue this marriage. Story 3: Seriously!? No sane person would complaint about free extra food. Her calling back only for op to point out she called the wrong number proves that there might be something wrong with her. Call the police for a wellness check because she doesn't sound like she is all there in the head. Story 4: Just to level things off before I put more of my 2 cents, the moment you get married, and your spouse has a kid before you got married, that "you can't parent my kid" become null and void the moment you say "I do". If they were dating and weren't married then she all rights to say that but after they are married and had a kid together, that kind of talk no longer applies. Good for op to show her the truth and the wife is on his side on this. Feels like the stepdaughter is becoming an egotistical bitch and needs to be put in her place with all those nasty things, not to just her stepsister, but also her little sister. Hmm, me thinks that she was an only child before her parents divorced and now that both parents moved on and having kids with new significant others, she isn't the center of attention anymore.

Story 2: op needs to quit his job and AFTER that file divorce, that's not a happy marriage and he is ruining his life be just being with her. And the reason why he needs to quit his job is naturally because then he doesn't have to pay alimony to his then ex-wife. If he does it other way around or even if she does file divorce before he does, well, all those 12 to 18 hours a day will come back and bite him in the rear. That alimony he have to pay comes from how much money he makes in a year and naturally when his wife doesn't make any, it's going to be a lot. It doesn't even matter if he stop doing those long days, he will still have to pay high alimony from all money he have been making. Court will count it as bad as it can for the husband and he can't even negotiate it to be lesser amount in later time, because there is no justice for men in court and you can be sure that she is not going to re-marry or get even a job because he will be forever her free meal ticket. If she would only be his girlfriend and not his wife would op still be with her, yeah, i don't think so either, don't ever get married, especially if you live in states. You can already do everything what married people can, so why get married, it only ruin your life. Get kids if you want, buy a house with you girlfriend if you want and so on, but don't ruin your life and future for anything or no-one.

while I agree the wife isn't entirely blameless, I think the main issue stems from the therapist. it seems to me, and to several others as well, apparently, that the therapist isn't helping them at all, and is just feeding the wife excuses to keep her coming back to them and milking her for as much money as they can instead of trying to actually help her, because they know that if they fix her problems then the wife will go back to work slowly and no longer need a therapist, so the cash flow from them stops at that point. I'd be more concerned getting the wife proper help from a therapist who isn't just out to suck the money from the OP's wallet and is actually invested in helping his wife get back to normal. I would also consider legal action against the first therapist and report him for fraud to have his license to practice revoked. people like that therapist give the practice a bad name. it's why so many people are suspicious of therapists to begin with, are people like that.

@@PiousWildcarde every person is in the end responsible for their own life and that apply also for their own mental health. Other people can help, but most of it every person have to do by themselves. I have very little sympathy for her, how she have been behaving for years now and what her husband have had to endure is not fair at all. HE deserves more. If that therapist turns out to be part of the problem, it's still no excuse how she have been treating him, that's not a loving wife. Yeah, i think it's time they go in their separate ways. When I was 16 I had a brain tumor the size for baseball. I had it for 16 years and I didn’t break down crying when I was told I had a brain tumor. I didn’t break down crying when I saw the tumor well through an x-ray I think they got me was the fact that shit like this always happens to me, most of my life is either myself breaking me getting fucked over in one way or another or something happening to me and here’s a interesting fact I’ll Patil that point and even a little afterwards I only had around 30 dreams. In the 16 years I was a life and roughly 25 of those were nightmares but guess what on the tomorrow is that all I was thinking it’s OK time to get back to school I want to. I just wanted to go home. I just wanted to go to school, but but I couldn’t I had to wait to recover and I got home a few days later something happened. I don’t remember which happened first either. I got weakness in my right side or the shunt malfunctioned maybe both I don’t remember so we went back to the hospital. Got that issue fixed more recovery time, then went back again for one of the two problems that was the final time, and then a little later got back to school. I would’ve went back to school in the moment that last surgery was done but I couldn’t so believe me I can understand needing some recovery time 12 years for a mental break down that is acceptable three is pushing it for his ridiculous five you can get the fuck out of here with that shit

Look I'm not saying the company wasn't ran by jerks...all I'm saying is all we're hearing is one side an it comes off as very petulant an unprofessional. The workforce isn't sophomore year. There are ways to get justice but this person admitted that they knew the pay and responsibility GOING IN. I agree to a job I do it as per the agreement. I don't like it or I feel like I want more I go an ask professionally. They won't go for it I go somewhere else. You never know what bridges you're burning

To the creator for the first story, you’re completely ignorant on anything that has to do with mental health. It can take several years to get over anything like I have no idea why do you think you know what you’re talking about

Story 2: The husband sounds like an abusive, gaslighting manipulator. Some people need more help than others to get through a mental health crisis. He needs to shut up and back off and quit abusing her.
