I love Sweetwater gear reviews because most other videos make gear sound way better than it really is, but Sweetwater’s reviews are the closest thing I’ve found to trying it out in your own living room.

I had 46 Boss pedals, but no tremolo, so I finally ordered one of these today (used, sorry Sweetwater). I even have a TR-2 box for it (when I was in a band the other guitarist got this pedal, and was going to throw out the box, so I gladly took it and have been hanging onto it for like 20 years 😂).

Do you like the tremolo? I’m not much into chorus or delay but I’m looking for a pedal to give me a fuller sound especially with chords. I’ve had a few tremolo pedals in the past and got rid of them because they were noisy when on and not playing. I’ve heard a lot of people say this pedal is very quiet so I’m intrigued. Hope you’re enjoying the tremolo.
@scramblesthedeathdealer11 ай бұрын
@brianrollins7275 I love the TR-2 Tremolo, makes me wonder why I didn't get one sooner. It is not noisy. It's a great effect, but you may want to add a boost pedal/overdrive before or after it, there may be a slight perceived drop in volume, it doesn't bother me, and I'll play clean into it just fine, sounds pretty killer, actually. I highly recommend the TR-2 👍
@scramblesthedeathdealer11 ай бұрын
@brianrollins7275 I also really like running a distortion/overdrive pedal before the TR-2 so it chops up the dirty signal!

Loved this pedal. Someone stole mine from me after a show at a little blues joint in Nashville, TN. I never bought another one because it just pissed me off so much thinking about it. I liked the gated effect you could get with this thing.

I've been looking for a trem pedal for a while now, but im not to fussed about having something overly flashy, just want it for Blues and the odd overdub effect for recording. If this is good enough for Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys, its certainly good enough for the average pub player!.

Can anyone please answer... R all tremolos digital? Or are some analogue? And which is this? Thanks.

Hi, Luey. Thanks for your question! The TR-2 is analog. There isn't a digital or WAZA version of this pedal currently. There are absolutely digital tremolos in multi effects units made by many manufactures. Please contact me direct with other gear questions. I'm fairly new to pedals, looking at getting this, I also have a boss ds-1 distortion, my question is which order to I put the signal through? Distortion first or tremolo first? I'll try both when I get it but just wondering what people think.
@MickeyDs147 жыл бұрын
Jake since this is considered a modulation Pedal, it depends on what you like to play. I’ve seen some people have a fuzz and put it before their chorus or rotary effects. So, it’s completely subjective.
@plenkins7 жыл бұрын
thanks! I guess i'll experiment and see what sounds good
@MickeyDs147 жыл бұрын
No problem. And though boss has some good pedals, make sure you explore some other options like boutique pedals. Meaning, they're not typically sold in a lot of chains so you have to go to some smaller shops or order online. Also, if you think you'll want a chorus, flanger, phaser, rotary, etc. you should think about getting a combination pedal that has all of them in one. It'll save you money and time in your search. If I'd been more patient, I wouldn't have wasted money in the past. Good luck, my friend!
@chrisdaviesguitar6 жыл бұрын
It also depends on whether you have an effects loop on your amplifier. Generally, things like wah wah and distortion go before the amp. If you have an effects loop, any modulated effects (flanger, chorus, tremolo, delay) should go via that. But at the end of the day, your signal chain is what you like. There is no 'correct method' per se. Personally, I have a volume pedal, then a wah wah, distortion, chorus, reverb, delay then a looper.

@trickyrjb14 жыл бұрын
@@charliegriffith._1720 Tremolos are kind of funny about volume even though they're not lowering the volume There is a perceived volume drop when the pedal is engaged so thanks to the internal volume trim you can compensate for that and not disappear in the mix When you N engage tremolo

Sam Emaus just bought a used one. Sounds like the typical effect in old Fender amps except for the option to shape the wave. It's a fine thing - just what you would expect from a temolo. But I agree, in this presentation it appears a bit harsh. Don't know why.

I use to play nothing but Boss pedals but when I realized how flat and awefull my clean tone sounded I got rid of them ! I like Boss pedals but hate how it sucks your tone ! How I wish Boss would make some true bypass pedals !!😫😫
@lueysixty-six73005 жыл бұрын
Anthony Arredondo can you explain that please?? I have a nearly all Way Huge pedal board, with a few exceptions... a ts9...a nux loop core...um, a black cat moan wah wah...and, an sd1 (dah, duh, daaaah!). I was thinking of adding this (Boss tremolo), and also maybe their Octaver.. If your warning reaches me, it could save me a world of pain - not to mention a small fortune aswell! But.. Please explain! If I have boss pedals in my signal chain...even disengaged, my clean tone will be negatively impacted? On account of it not being true bypass?? Is that about the extent of it? I also have what might be a dumb question... Are all tremolo pedals digital? Or are some analogue? I ask because I already have a mooer mod shop with tremolo in it.. I was just looking for one with better overall tone, and I wondered if this might be analogue..Or is that stupid?? Modulation fx can only be digital?
@alextimo2 жыл бұрын
@@lueysixty-six7300 Boss pedals include a buffer - it takes the incoming signal, buffers it, and sends it out whether or not the pedal is on. This does a couple good things: it avoids pops and distortion when turning pedals on and off, and it helps a guitar signal not get degraded by cable length. If buffers are neutral, there's no signal loss. A bad buffer, like they had on some pedals in the '70s, can color your tone. On the flip side, no buffer (true bypass) with too long a cable will also color your tone. Some have measured that putting several buffered pedals in a row will slightly reduce the level of the signal reaching the amplifier, but given that it's then amplified by an amplifier, does that actually matter? Several buffered pedals in a row will roll off the signal below 50Hz, but given that most guitarists put an 80Hz low pass filter on anyway to cut those frequencies, does it matter or is it actually a bonus? In short, don't worry about buffered pedals. You generally want at least one, but having more than one isn't necessarily an issue. A cheap true bypass pedal that introduces a lot of noise is much worse than a buffered Boss pedal that doesn't add any noise.
