Harmonic Tremolo separates your signal into separate bass and treble and alternately pulses the volume of each, so, as the volume of the treble is fading out, the volume of the bass is fading in, and as the bass fades out , the treble fades in, etc.. I once saw a demo of a prototype guitar that had a mechanism that alternately faded the volume of the neck and bridge pickups in and out, and it produced the same effect.

@richosburn6 жыл бұрын
Dr/\gonfly just be advised that this pedal changes your tone noticeably when turned off/on. It’s not a subtle change. See Pete Thorn’s demo on this pedal (he showcases this change in the first bit of the video). It’s like an overdrive kicking in with mild gain boost. FYI
@wolfnstrings6 жыл бұрын
Rich Osburn Good to know. I’ll have to put it in a loop on a switcher. Thanks for the tip.
@ChrisBuckGuitar6 жыл бұрын
Rich Osburn Good point but that’s only if the gain knob is turned up at all - if you set the gain at zero like I had in this video (as opposed to 4 as in Pete’s) it’s pretty ‘transparent’ in terms of volume jumps etc. It’s only when the gain’s increased that you’ll hear a noticeable change to your level 🙂

Chris, I've listened to every worthwhile electric guitarist since the dawn of the '60s (I've been around a while), and I'd just about given up hope for the future of the instrument until now. The opening passage on this video is some of the sweetest and heartfelt playing I've heard in a long, long time, and if this wonderful review doesn't sell this pedal, then nothing ever will. Someone needs to get this guy a stadium to fill.

Had a ‘61 Tremolux. First year they did the head and cabinet. 1 x 10” speaker in a closed back cabinet with a tone ring. Speaker had blown before I had it, and had been replaced with a 12”. 18 watts of magic. Blonde Tolex Oxblood grill...😓 very special sounding amp. It had tremolo to die for. Used it to finance a gigging bass, and bass amp rig. Really miss that amp! Every time I hear these pedals makes me think of it.

Lovely melody and phrasing, Chris! 🤗It sounds both familiar and original, an excellent little comp and jam. I love harmonic tremolo - I just picked up an Earthquaker Devices 'Nite Wire', not quite as sweet --sounding as the Supro, but more versatile for finding your own special sound with it. Who doesn't love tinkering with a new pedal and finding inspiration!🤩

Amazing playing!!! I just received this pedal and have felt super inspired by the tones. Your outro for a minute reminded me of Des'ree's- I'm Kissing You ...based on some of the chords and because she's got such a pronounced vibrato in her voice that basically is a tremolo! Now I've got a song to learn :)

Hey Ryan. I have actually. I've not directly compared the two, but the Monument is fantastic. I preferred that and the Supro over the Flint and Earthquaker Night Wire. It'd be great to try the Monument and Supro side by side!
@graemero55326 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisBuckGuitar I have the monument,it's great, and tap tempo sealed it for me
@gbills6 жыл бұрын
I have both. Monument is great, tap tempo really helps, but the Supro made my board and isn’t coming off anytime soon. The Supro harmonic sound is far richer and has a greater range with the depth knob than any other harmonic trem I’ve tried. And, as a bonus, the drive on the Supro is fantastic. I do wish it had a tap tempo, but I’ve learned how to dial it in (or also how to work with it out of tempo, which I like too).
@graemero55326 жыл бұрын
@@gbills Between your reply and Chris' playing I may have to get the Supro too.
@gbills6 жыл бұрын
@Graeme Ross, Yeah, the Supro has the best sound by far, to my ears. This video was good timing, too, because last week I did a harmonic trem pedal audition for my new board and the Supro won out (again) over the Monument, Flower Pedals Dandelion, and CB Gravitas (and I LOVE CB!). If only the Stone Deaf Tremotron had a harmonic mode...not sure it would sound better than the Supro, but the feature set would be killer (MIDI presets, dual trem, tap tempo, etc.).

@hgostos Жыл бұрын
In the beginning, I thought there was only one type of tremolo (optical). Liked it but I found it not versatile enough to gain a place in my very small pedalboard. Then, I found out about the brown amp tremolo after listening to Chris Stapleton. That's it! I like that! Fast forward to only a few hours ago I realised that Fender used TWO different tremolo circuits in those brown amps, bias trem in the smaller amps and harmonic in the larger, more expensive amps! What a revelation! Love all three but I must admit that if I had to put them in order of preference it would be: bias (as always on type of thing), harmonic (for those Hendrixy moments) and optical (Monster era REM anyone?). In other words, swampy, phasey and choppy. Now the 3 modes in the Flint pedal make perfect sense. I have ordered Mr Black's Mini Tremolo as it offers both bias tremolo as well as harmonic in a neat little package. Reminds me of an old DOD Vibrathang that I used and played a few decades ago. I'm starting to understand the whole tremolo thing much better now. Cheers!

Hi Chris, I don't know how I missed this video, but what an amazing sound. Tremolo is one of my favourite effects ever, and about two years ago I bought a Catalinbread Pareidolia Harmonic Mesmerizer (discontinued), basically a harmonic tremolo pedal, along with their DLS 3 and a Mr Black Gold Eterna pedal. Although these two pedals are amazing in their own right, the Pareidolia has a sound quite similar to your Supro, but this pedal of mine has some strange filtering sounds that I can't put my finger on, ergo Pareidolia. Thank you for all your amazing content, and such a professional approach to all that you do...
