one thing i found really weird about this scene is that nishitani's men just disappear like that. when majima kicks nishitani while he was sleeping, they just surrounded majima to protect nishitani, and when he's about to smoke, one of them offers him a lighter, just like how a family man to his patriarch/captain. safe to assume that they're his men / kijin's family or at least tojo's guys. but when nishitani gets gunned down like that, they're nowhere to be found. the most loyal men would take a bullet or at least retaliate when they see their boss getting attacked, or at least some reaction like calling out to their boss or maybe even running away or cowering. but the problem is that they're just disappear. that just a very weird oversight to me

Nah, that happened because Nishitani had to die, but that death needed to have a meaning. He dies protecting majima here. Series can't go on with 2 crazy chars so they killed Nishitani and made Majima impersonate him as a memorial, sort of.

Almost? Kiryu can take machine gun shots during gameplay. The only major problem I got with the Yakuza games is exactly it. They should've thought better about how to implement guns in the storyline and gameplay mechanics. There's no way a man can fight with dozens of armed yakuza and survive.

So here for example Nishtani would be doing something crazy and Majima would be more annoyed and grounded.

this death makes no sense, no matter how you look at it, because the kijin clan never said a word about the death of someone as important as Nishitani, even worse, the omi clan did not say anything about it either, even though the kijin clan is a great subsidiary of the omi clan, and the death of a leader as important as Nishitani would have set on all the alarms and if not, let's imagine what would happen if the leader of the majima goro majima clan disappeared or died, there would simply be no way for this to go unnoticed (and that Majima is a subsidiary of the Tojo clan, not the omni, now imagine if one of the leaders of one of the most important sub-companies of the omi clan died and nobody mentioned anything, it just doesn't make sense) that's why I think Nishitani is still alive

While Nishitani was pretty entertaining, I don't like how similar he is to Majima in the later games. It's like they just wrote Future Majima into the story with a different name and appearance. His only purpose was to inspire Majima, he didn't have any goals of his own. Pretty poor writing, but somehow I still love the guy as a character. Goes to show how entertaining Majima is in the other games if a poorly written copy is equally as entertaining.

His goal was securing Makato for his boss, Majima was just in his way, so I wouldn't say that. He was primarily used as a plot device to show where Majima got his craziness from, as Majina has been very stoic and stern up to that point
