Remember it well from 99, never been a better footie spoof. Crammed full with great actors and gags. Quote it regularly 👍

Thanks, YT algorithm. I never knew this existed but I'm watching it 20 odd years later. Brilliant! I recall another one. A half hour play from maybe mid 70's just a manager of a little club in the changing room talking to his team after a bad defeat, but the next match was FA cup against Leeds utd and he was trying to gee his players up for it. Not funny just a bit sad at the end. I have no idea what it was called or how to find it even if it still exists.

I see Gerry Tudor has interviewed Southgate: GT: Realistically, what chance do England have of beating Spain this evening? GS: Well, we’ve got what I like to call no chance at all, Spain is a very good side, Rodri, Yamal, Olmo, these are what I like to call class players. My lads, well they’re very poor, very poor indeed, I’ve told them that.

Funniest thing never seen much, looked for this for years, sloping pitch was the funniest bit, it's a dig at The Hibs team as they used to have a sloping pitch, they also wear the old Hibs strips

Agree re the film, remember it being on TV and could never understand why it wasn't repeated. Interesting how we see things differently, I always thought the sloping pitch and green shirts were reflecting Yeovil Town, England's second greatest Cup Giantkilling side compared to Hereford. Yeovil aka the "Green Slime" play in green too, their old Huish Park pitch had an 8' slope. As a lifelong Hereford fan this film reminded me of many of our Cup games on interesting pitches. Thanks SO much for posting it, and in good quality too.

It's not as famous as 'An Evening with Gary Lineker' - also by the same writer - but personally I think it's a lot funnier. "Not THE George Best of course, but a different one."

Inclusion of a physio with an interest in young, naked male bodies nowadays seems sickening and horribly inappropriate. With the benefit hindsight strange to see how it could ever have been viewed as funny. An updated version of this film would have edited him out
