Who did they start? Marbury? My memory is foggy but that's an interesting take.

Alston did start in the Finals, and played more MPG than Jameer Nelson. Nelson was closing games. Neither had a good series against the Lakers. Some say it's because Alston confidence was shook, with Jameer taking some of his minutes. Jameer just wasn't in top shape, when compared to his pre-injury all-star level. People put too much emphasis on Alston/Nelson, a factor, for sure, but seem to forget that the combination of Bynum and Gasol (and Odom) were too much for Howard, who went from averaging 26 PPG against CLE to just under 16 PPG vs LAL
