It’s easy. They wanted to cut the middleman “footlocker” out of their sales. So they pulled a lot of product. Footlocker started promoting the other brands like New Balance, Aasics, Hoka more. Long story short, in one move Nike destroyed their own sales and boosted the profile and profits of brands the public wasn’t wearing.

At the same time they vomited out every model they could all at once to hide falling sales per model and kept inventory counts low by putting them in transit. Coupled with cutting workforce and buying lower cost (quality) materials hides profit growth slipping. All this so dumb money and trading algorithms would be duped into floating share price. Technically sneakers only last 6 months. That’s always been true, but you can get some that can last for a year or more even as daily wear kicks. What happened is the smaller brands innovated and our marketed Nike and people saw that other people have great sneakers. I switched to new balance and haven’t looked back since. New balance, adidas, asics, and I plan on trying a pair of Hoka’s soon. How did this journey start? A physical therapist was wearing a pair of new balance sneakers and I bought a pair on sale for half off one day just to try them (fresh foam more 3). Ended up spending over $1000 to buy family members a pair and a few friends as well.

@justSTUMBLEDupon I dont like new balance due to personal injuries. They dont protect the ankle and kind of feel like what I call boat shoes. I have about 10 years of physical therapy after injuries I had in the army when I was 20. I tried new balance and under armour. In the beginning I needed lighter shoes because I had tendons repaired/ replaced on my right foot and the heavier shoes that help with balance felt too heavy. I tried the ones the VA gives but they weren't comfortable (at first/ the earlier years) Hoka is 100% my absolute favorite but due to my issues i destroy the heel even with shoe horns just from walking within a month or two. I can't afford $200 every other month. I technically could but I wasn't willing to. Brooks have this "rail" on the side of their shoes that definitely help keep the foot from moving out/ in too much which long term helps all joints including knee and hip and were less than half the weight the new balance were which was important for me so I can bring my toes up when walking. I would definitely suggest hokka if you don't have issues and can make them last. None ever felt as good. Brooks last me a little over 6 months with light tears around the heel and where my orthodics sit from rubbing

My opinion on Nikes fall off is it happened because of lack of innovation mixed with low quality control standards at high end prices. Nike has been pushing the same old shoes that came out in the 80s and 90s ad nauseam. I’ve collected Nikes and Jordan’s for 20 years now and when I wear a pair of Jordan’s (which are now basically casual shoes) for a full day I noticed that they’re not comfortable and make my feet hurt if I wear them for more than a couple of hours. Nikes air maxes are still comfortable for extended wears, but their Jordan basketball shoes are crap compared to the new stuff that’s been coming out the last decade. There’s too much innovative competition in the market now for them to take their foot off the gas and rely on shoes that came out 20 and 30 years ago. I personally stopped buying Jordan’s because of the high end price tag doesn’t match the product being received. Another big issue is their releases being botted by resellers and sold off at exorbitant prices. Nike doesn’t care because they’re still selling units and it looks good on their bottom line, but it’s the actual sneaker head that gets hurt in the end because they can’t actually get the release they want and are actually going to wear for a fair market price. It makes the consumer not want to spend money with Nike anymore because it’s been a problem for a long time and they still haven’t fixed it. Now that they had that huge down day in their stock in the middle of this year they’re just barely getting creative about their releases to get their product in the hands of people who buy them to wear them and not resell them. Nike is still the big kid on the block but they clearly fell asleep at the wheel being greedy by doing things like the DTC focus discussed in this video. But again I think it boils down to lack of innovation while the competition is still hungry. Nike better keep its ears to the streets and interact with everyday customers and figure out how to make them happy or they will continue to lose their market share. Just the opinion of a veteran sneaker head ✌🏻

Guys aren’t buying that many shoes anymore. More young men are living as minimalistic as possible because they’re not trying to impress anyone. It used to be that young men at least tried to have the latest shoes or at least always had a clean pair in order to potentially go on a date. But young men now realize that it doesn’t matter how dressed up you are or the type of car you have or even( to some degree) how good your personality is, women won’t even go on a date with the average guy, and instead will pick the taller or much better physically looking guy. That better looking guy can wear whatever and get dates. And he has most of the young women in a rotation, especially the really short ones who are the ones who always try and get a boyfriend much taller than them. Most young men are going for comfort instead of looks now, since like I mentioned, they are not trying to impress anyone.

I'll never fully understand why people spend so much on shoes unless your getting a pair for a very specialized purpose they're just feet protectors. I'd always setting for something comfy and last me a long time.

I like to wear retro jordans, 95' airmax, SB dunks. All very old shoes and not comfortable compared to today's technology, but I like having shoes I had/wanted as a kid. That's basically what's keeping them in business. People like me

Everytime that i buy their shoes, they fall apart after a couple of months. Your better off looking for brands that don't take their brand name for granted. Nike got too comfortable with being the go-to option for sports wear.

When I was a kid in the 80s and 90s, I would wear mostly Nikes. I stopped buying Nike shoes because they kept falling apart within the first year of ownership! My sister's boyfriend one day gave me a new pair of Skechers a few years ago, and I fell IN LOVE with those shoes. They were better than Nike in every aspect. I did try to revert back to Nike by buying two pairs of their shoes, but yet again, they both fell apart within the first year. Now I only buy Skechers and sometimes Adidas.

Another thing! Most of the Nike shoes these days look like rainbows. I'm 42 years old. I don't want to walk around looking like a rainbow. Just give me something that's all black, and I'm good.

As someone who is in their mid 20’s and heavily into the show market. Nike has been relying on their name and prestige for about the last 10 years. People in the street wear market don’t really care about prestige name brands like they used to. People into style nd fashion in their teens and 20’s for the most part just care if it’s comfortable and looks good.

No innovation, the rise of competing brands, lack of creativity, and a hard affiliation to 1 political party are all reasons that Nike is struggling - A current Nike WHQ employee

It's the poor design and the poor quality. I and my son bought Nike air. However, within 3 months the bottom and the top begin to separate. Why? Cannot find a better glue? Now the majority of the Nike shoes have a tapered (thinner) tip. Why? It doesn't look good and not comfortable neither.

A couple of years ago I bought a pair of Nike running shoes for roughly $130. All I did in them was walk around, chill and drink beer. The glue on the sole separated from the toe box after about nine months. I bought a pair of Adidas trail runners with the Gore Tex upper and I don't plan on spending any money with Nike ever again. They're asking way too much for cheaply made mesh shoes.

Maybe they should increase the prices of all of their shoes and get idiots that are willing to pay +$500 for what amounts to a block of foam, or a thin piece of plastic glued to rubber and call them all limited editions. I'm sure there are enough idiots to pay that much for fake exclusivity.
@kingkoua111 сағат бұрын
You haven’t been paying attention to the shoe market. Even those idiots don’t buy jordan 1s anymore.
@BillAngelos10 сағат бұрын
@@kingkoua1 I never pay attention to the shoe market. I buy shoes to wear. The shoe market today is as bad as the comic book market was in the late 80s or early 90s. The value of those shoes are basically nothing, they just don't know it yet. What's the value of 99% of the beany babies? Nothing. What's the value of +99% of the nfts, nothing. There is a limited amount of time for all of these things where people think there is value in something, and then they wake up 1 day and realize the cruel joke they bought into.

Nike is struggling because it is so expensive. I went to Chicago and 3 pairs of Sox cost $30. Overpriced and overhyped. They spend too much on marketing. How much do they pay on lebron alone. Plus their shoes are not comfortable.

First of, if you ever go in a Footlocker, Finishline, ShoePalace, they carry 7yr old shoes like the vapormax and the 720. And all they do is change the colorway. Literally no innovation. I use to be a Nike head since the 80’s, but now I’ve moved on to better foams like New Balance and ASICS.

Their most expensive shoe is $285, and thats an elite marathon racing shoe, that’s used by Olympic athletes, it’s a well made shoe. Nike has a lot of affordable shoes, and the models that are very expensive don’t make up a huge portion of their lineup.
