Vic Firth’s learn the music from June covers one of the solos. (part 2 solo, I think) But the written copy only goes so far. Regarding the 4 against 3, the easiest is to have the tech explain how to interpret it. The only reason I know it is I have a member of the snare line in the family. Apparently, some of them now refer to it as a McNutt rudiment. But you can find the early transcription.

I feel like this modern day genre of DCI is really only catering to the musician. As a drummer, I appreciate what they are doing. But to be completely honest, there are traditional lines that are way more technical in their playing and way more enjoyable to listen to. Funny enough, these DCI's have way more funding behind them.

Robbed just like last year. Give it too a line playing a straight forward basic book perfect rather than a challenging book 99 percent clean. I know which is more impressive to me. 80 percent of svc book is buzz rolls and slow tap 5 phrases like a dang high-school cadence.

As much as I’d love to agree with you, i can’t … the FE gets more FaceTime with judges than then battery does these days and let’s keep it real, there has NEVER been a time that Boston’s FE has been better than SCV’s .. also .. between the two .. SCV’s line was definitely cleaner and was not basic at all .. both sections were smoking and had a lot to bring but the better one usually wins.

So, with that logic, BD should’ve won the Sanford, right? They probably had the most difficult battery book. But, if it’s not CLEAN & ARTICULATE, it doesn’t matter. SCV was nowhere near basic. That’s not how the Rennicks play the game. They performed the best at the right time. That entire unit (BATTERY & FRONT ENSEMBLE) was on fire. BAC will definitely get there.
