Teen Empowerment Youth Organizers Kendra Gerald and Dante Omorogbe participated in Boston Mayor Walsh's November speak-out, "Boston Talks About Racism".
Addressing a full house in the Cutler Majestic Theater, both teens offered first-person accounts of their own encounters with racism, reinforcing the need for the Mayor's plan to initiate a year-long series of conversations about racism, healing and policy work in all of the neighborhoods of Boston.

I am so sorry you feel this way. Just be aware of the fact that there will always people that love you and accept you for who you are. And be proud of your skin color because it’s beautiful and has a place among the others.

Systematic racism does not put people in jail their actions put them there. I am not a racist Because of that statement. When you call me a racist because of my skin color, isn't that stereotyping and judging me because of the color of my skin? That in my eyes is racism. We need to start seeing people for who they are and not what color they are. We need to work hard to get where we want to go.

Of course people of colour commit crime and get put in jail due to their actions. However they are more targeted and therefore more people of colour are likely to be in prison. It is not racist to not understand the way the criminal justice system and the way it is bias towards certain races but it is ignorant to deny the fact that ethnic minorities are treated differently.

Oh my god you guys get called racist for 1 week and now you want your own movement like #whitelivesmatter grow the hell up. You’ve never been oppressed or enslaved. There were many racists in Syria where my origins are from, then god retaliated and bombed it all. You see how America is in flames? That’s god giving karma to the USA for being so cruel. That ain’t the half of it there is a storm coming to America.
