Locals tip: You are much better off eating seafood at a seafood restaurant and avoid Quincy Market as it overpriced and not the best quality. A good lobster roll is loaded with lobster meat with just enough mayo to keep it together. Lots of add-ins reduces its value and taste. No local refers to a sandwich as a grinder. It’s either a sandwich made with sliced bread or it is a submarine (shortened to sub) if it is served on a long roll made for this purpose. Sub shops are everywhere and offer a variety of foods, mostly to-go. The North End is THE place for quality Italian food. Enjoy Boston as it’s a great small city and very walkable.
@alonsolozano26742 жыл бұрын
Where do you recommend to get a Lobster Roll?
@katiemcteague2 жыл бұрын
@@alonsolozano2674 There are so many great places in and around Boston that serve traditional lobster rolls. Neptune Oyster at 63 Salem St # 1 is ranked #1 by many food critics. Head to the North Shore, specifically in Essex (Farnham’s), Ipswich (The Clam Box or Ipswich Clambake), or Gloucester (Seaport Grille or Lobsta Land) where great seafood abounds. Be prepared to pay A LOT for a lobster roll. Prices continue to rise. Expect to pay anywhere from $30-$40. It’s kind of ridiculous actually and I personally wouldn’t spend the money for one right now.

I live in Massachusetts and lived in Boston during my childhood. I have a strong accent to some and somewhat of an accent according to others. I am going to provide some tips Tip #1 You should definitely visit Boston during the fall,winter,or possibly spring as the hotel costs are super expensive during the summer.Tip #2 If you do want to go during the summer go to the Marriott Hotel in the theater district or Hotel Buckminster near Fenway Park to get better deals.I have been to both for a wedding and a concert and got good deals at both.Tip # 3.Get a Charlie Card as that will also save you money if you take the subway. Tip #4Quincy Market aka Faneuil Hall is nice but if you want a less touristy area go to the North End,Seaport Blvd,Beacon Hill,and Longwharf. Tip #5 Don't forget to go catch a game at Fenway Park from Monday thru Thursday during the afternoon during the summer as you will save money on ticket costs. If you are a hockey or basketball fan there are always games at the TD Garden. A big perk to visiting is the fact that you can get from one area of Boston by walking which is great exercise or by taking public transportation aka The T. There is always something to do with visiting historicalsites,restaurants,marketplaces,sports,museums,trying just a boat ride. I hope you visit and have a great experience.

As a native to the city you did a great job. Don't try to scare too many people about the winters though. Over the last two decades they have gotten much milder. This past winter we had such a small amount of snow and only 3 days of deep freeze. The Boston Marathon is actually held on a state holiday called Patriots Day. Not for the football team but in recognition of the brave who fought for our independence in nearby Concord and Lexington. Schools, state and municipal offices are all closed for Patriots Day.

These are some great tips on Boston! As I have been to Boston several times in the past decade, I agree with many of these! I really like how walkable the city is. I never drive in the city as I always take the Silver Line from Logan Airport into the city. Stopping at Quincy Market for the clam chowder at Boston Chowda is a tradition I have done every year (except for my very first trip to Boston). It is quite good! I have a couple tips and recommendations which I will share from my experiences: 1. Definitely check out the Prudential Center in the Back Bay neighborhood for shopping and an observation deck with great views of the city and the surrounding area. There is also an Eataly there too! 2. For some great pizza, I recommend checking out Santarpio's Pizza over in East Boston. I learned about it from a good friend of mine who is from Rhode Island. You will need to take the Blue Line to Maverick Station, and it is not far of a walk. I went there several years ago with friends, and the pizza was amazing! Be warned that it is cash only. I need to go back to Boston soon! It is one of my favorite cities in the United States!

Depends on when you are coming. Boston is a big college city, so by August the city is full, and often the next few months have the parents visiting so Cambridge, Boston, Brookline, Brighton, hotel and smaller venues are busy. Also the Fall sometimes has tourists who visit the surrounding areas for foliage viewing. If there are only a few of you (without children) you may check the B&B and smaller places. The further you get from the city (near the airport, Revere, Chelsea, South Boston) then you must depend on public transportation, which can be hit or miss. Choose a location and then go to Mapquest and put in basic information for Boston (Fenway Park, Copley Square, Harvard University, Northeastern University, Museum of Fine Arts) to see how far you are from that location. @@MissLilly-vn2wt

Love Beacon Hill! I used to walk around that neighborhood just to take photos. Would spend a good two to three hours just shooting photography. Quincy Market is a great spot to sample various Boston fair, especially for first timers. Fun fact... at the 11:03 mark on your video, the bar over your right shoulder is the Bell in Hand Tavern. It's the oldest bar in America. Also, Boston Marathon is held on Patriot's Day, which is a holiday for us in Boston. Usually there are several events going on including the marathon, Red Sox home game and even a Celtics or Bruins home game. Finally, one place you forgot to mention is...THE MUSEUM OF SCIENCE!! So as a New Englander born and raised a number of things to know about Boston that was not mentioned on this video.The first thing is if you park under the Boston Common Garage be careful of a lot of homeless that sleep in and out of the entrances when you’re leaving the Garage.The second thing is to get to the John F Kennedy Museum it’s in a section of Boston called Dorchester mass.To get there hop on the MBTA Red line at Park street station and take the train to JFK UMASS stop and they have a shuttle bus to get you there.If you want to a Boston duck Tour which is really fun to do and strongly recommend.I recommend that you book the duck tour on line and they leave from the Museum of Science which is Science park station on the green line.The Duck tours take you around the sights and also a tour of the Charles river like I mentioned if you have kids they will love it .If you don’t want to do a Duck tour just a regular sightseeing cruise they go out of Rowes Wharf which is a short walk from Quincy Market about 5 minutes.They have Dinner,lunch,Whale watches and just regular sightseeing tours.The Children’s Museum is another great place to go and that’s on the Red line at South station and it’s about a 5 minute walk.So like it’s mentioned on here if you love Italian food definitely the North End they have a lot of Italian festivals but there has not been any because of COVID-19 .So this coming August they are going to have the St Anthony’s festival which is the best out of all them and it’s huge .So if you’re not doing the festival’s and visiting the north end I strongly recommend Pizza Regina great pizza.There is usually a long wait during the summer time and just to let you know they don’t accept credit cards Cash only .If you want to go to Fenway park and do a Park tour also I recommend you make your reversions on line.If you also go to a Red Sox’s I recommend you take the MBTA to the game because parking will soak you between 40 to 60.00 to Park .On Hotels if you want to save money I recommend that you look outside of the city it’s less expensive.So look into the city’s North of Boston cities of Somerville,Medford,Cambridge,Woburn Mass .iIf you’re coming from the west off the Pike the city’s of Newton and Brookline .If your looking outside of Boston for Cilvl War Buffs it’s located in Somerville Mass at Prospect hill 15 minutes from Downtown Boston near Union Sq in Somerville mass it’s were George Washington raised the second American flag on Jan 1 1776 .I recommend when you’re walking in Boston always use a crosswalk because a lot of Boston drivers are crazy .It’s a great and fun city to visit no doubt about it enjoy your stay

I like the video, you’re very good on camera and some good info. I lived in Mass and Boston for many years. I know the city very well. I do wish that travel experts would give a glimpse of the places that are not tourists traps, and show a bit of the character of the city, more than just over-priced food at Quincy market that isn’t really a representation of the food of the city. Perhaps your next Boston video should include some really cool, fun neighborhoods like Jamaica Plain, Central Square in Cambridge, Davis Square in Somerville, Coolidge Corner in Brookline, all safe neighbors accessible by the T. These neighborhoods boast some very eclectic ethic foods, unique shops and live music clubs. One very cool historical jewel is Castle Island/Fort Independence in Southie (South Boston). It is one of the oldest fortified sites in the US, and built in 1833, used since 1633, to protect the Boston Harbour. This is the tip of Boston and you can watch planes come in to land at Logan just a couple hundred feet over head as they cross the harbor, bike, and enjoy the breeze at the water of the harbor. To get there you have to take a bus, car or Uber from the Red line station in South Boston. You’d actually have to live in Boston to hear the rare “Wicked pissah” or run into Mark Wahlberg. A shout out to Summer Shack at the Alewife T station at the terminus of the red line. Great seafood and drinks!

If you’re willing to drive out of Boston for food, there’s a place called Riverview Restaurant in Ipswich. They’re a great cash only mom & pop that only sells Pizza, beer and soda. Oh, and it’s right near the train, so you can easily get there from North Station.

Even locals hate driving in Boston. He’s not kidding that it’s a hellish maze full of impatient drivers who will smash into you if you are too slow

Once you treat it as the racetrack that it is, driving in Boston starts to make sense. Drivers here see other cars as obstacles, not as people.

This is an excellent video, mostly spot on. However, do not eat at Quincy market. Just about all of the food vendors there are low quality. But, other than that, seafood almost anywhere in New England will be top notch. Clam chowder is also very different from restaurant to restaurant. But they are almost always very very good.

I currently live in Massachusetts and have lived here my whole life. The key places you missed were the Union Oyster House on Union St as the restaurant has great seafood and has a special booth where no one can sit because JFK used to sit there and you should have mentioned at least 1 historical landmarks such as the old North Church,old south meetinghouse,or at least the old state house as all of these buildings are important historical landmarks for the American Revolution. Good video overall. It sucks driving into Boston. That was spot on.

I love to travel and regularly rely on youtube for travel vloggers for travel tips to help me plan. A little tip, FWIW: Probably the least helpful thing travel vloggers tend to do in their videos is review individual menu items at length. If a restaurant is particularly noteworthy for its offerings, mention it. If it is famous for a particular dish, mention it. But I really don't need to watch you eat it and hear you describe the experience or see closeups. You're a travel vlogger, not a food critic. That aside, I've watched several of your videos and they've always been helpful and generally hit that sweet spot between brevity and informative.
