This is the reason that these boats cost what they cost. Even if the boat gets swamped with water it will not sink and that’s a damn good feeling to know that when you’re out in the middle of the ocean. And I know because I used to own one many years ago and I’ve told myself if I ever buy another boat it will be another whaler.

I wonder when they will make ocean sailing powered Boston Whaler yachts that has more than 2 to 3 times the required amount of foam so that the yachts, even thought made out of galvanized steel or stainless steel, will not sink even when heavily loaded with people, fuel, food, and with all kinds of cargo. I knew of an American survivalist in the early 1970s who purchased several very old marine grade stainless steel rebar reinforced marine grade concrete floating drydocks that he has connected all of them together and have all of their ballast cleaned up and sand blasted cleaned and water-proofed and filled with self-curing aero-concrete similar to your bubble stone concrete which is a form of Autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) and this one is a custom made formulated AAC Autoclaved aerated concrete which is non-porous once it has fully hardened and has fully cured even in enclosed spaces. Then he built a kind of self-sufficient community on board. The last time I talked with him is either in the late 1980s or early 1990s.

Served in the U.S. coast guard we had a 24ft whaler at my unit, it was a good boat but would definitely beat you up in any kinda chop having said that I would still get underway on one any day of the week.

The reason people get a wet ride on whalers is bc their in shit to go get the lake bost in trouble. Dry boat if in thy same conditions. I've come to find our that people who bash whaler are the same people that wanted the pretty Tahoe for way less money, "why would I buy this basic pos for way more money than this pretty bost", you won't be asking that when a whaler is what comes to get you

Boats that have flotation in the bottom only flip over when swamped. Everything falls out, the engine and all components are destroy ( if in saltwater) and the survivors try to hold in to the bottom. Pretty scary at night, especially far from land. Not with Whalers!!!!! GlennFHoward

Only idiots swamp their boats. Don’t drive directly into waves. Don’t go into conditions where you’ll swamp your boat. Problem solved

Surely not as seaworthy without the bow, but I wonder if it's actually faster once "on the step" than a complete boat? Good bit of weight gone. But on the other hand it's riding pretty bow high with the engine weight at the stern and now bow section, that's not helping them. They'd be faster if the occupants rode as far forward as possible.
@scoobydog4114 жыл бұрын
I can't afford the missing bow. I wanted to see them stop fast. Any boat will float if you keep the bow out of the water.

Key West did this to so what really is the difference between a Boston whaler and other unsinkables
@Kemperswatersport2 жыл бұрын
Hello Jacob, thank you for your reaction. It is not easy for me to answer this in brief, so I'd suggest you also talk to a local dealer. But yes, Key West have cut a boat in half too, but I am not aware of any trip with a "half Key West boat" out on the open sea, like we have done on the north sea. Key West also is a good brand, as there are many others. Boston Whaler is often called The Unsinkable Legend, as they have often been punished severely, as can be seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZWQnJaFrMmCr68 There is a lot of info to be found on the internet about the unsikability of Boston Whaler boats, and many people even owe their lives to it's unsinkability. But to truly understand how and why, please check with a local dealer for the full story. Warm regards from The Netherlands!

It's neat that it can float with the engine and 2 passenger weighting the aft section, but the obviously edited video (see waves on away shots, ie ferry) doesn't show in whaler shots ANY wave or chop. I can do that on a floating piece of foam-- it doesn't require a whaler???? The point is? I'm also very comfortable in calm waters followed by a support boat-- on ANY piece of foam with a motor added...........
@NUTHUGGER20006 жыл бұрын
Jim Fiorella Thats a Dauntless. It is self-bailing. The water that goes in when at low speeds just goes out the back. I have an older one and they are quite fine examples of engineering.

so is it the injected foam that makes them unsinkable?
@Kemperswatersport4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. It is a special foam which does not absorp any water.
@Ruthless9o74 жыл бұрын
Its closed cell marine foam. You can buy it yourself. I used it inside a cheap sit on top kayak that used to fill with water now it is 20lbs heavier but it won't/ can't sink.

Hi there, you're happily invited to join us when there is a force 7+, even this half Whaler will never ever sink. We usually make these videos in "easy" conditions since we cannot use certain cameras, audio, or drones otherwise, but the boats are capable of coping with conditions which are 100 times worse.
