Another Metroid BEFORE Prime 4 in 2024?

It's been awhile since I've talked about Metroid on this channel, so today I wanted to discuss the possibility of a 2D Metroid game releasing this year INSTEAD of Metroid Prime 4.

A remaster of Samus Returns or a remake of Fusion for the Switch would make me very happy.

I think the most likely scenario is Prime 2&3 HD (possibly just Prime 2) get shadow dropped at the June direct, with a brief teaser trailer for Prime 4 that says coming 2025. I believe Prime 4 will be cross gen to maximize sales. I expect the only 2D Metroid we’ll be getting this year is Zero Mission on NSO. Don’t think we’ll see the next new 2D from Mercury Steam until 2026 on Switch 2.

I think we're going to get Zero Mission on NSO and Prime 4 this year, then Prime 2+3 and maybe Samus Returns HD next year, to be a gap filler until Metroid 6 in 2026

If mercury steam crunches their team like last time maybe lol. I all serious metriod prime 4 is or is close to release. 2024 or switch 2 launch title.

Would LOVE to see Samus Returns remastered on Switch :-) Not to mention a Remaster of Zero Mission, Super Metroid and Fusion :-)

See I want this sooooooo bad, but I think it’s more likely we just get MP 2/3 and Samus Returns in the last year of the switch, and then MP4 in 2025 and Metroid 6 in 2026. Forgot to mention but I think Mercury Steam is also working on some other project currently, so Metroid 6 will take while.

I'm still holding out for hope we get a Metroid Fusion remake in the style of Metroid Prime. That would be insane. It could literally be in the genre of horror/sci-fi if done right. Especially with the ost.

Super isn't perfect. It is iconic and a foundational title, but it is the one 2D Metorid in most need of a modernized Remake in the new Dread style. When I replayed all the latest versions of 1-4 before Dread, Super was the clunkiest to play by far. And i used to be a purist who never wanted them to touch Super, but after Dread, I'm very open to it.

I think it’s like he says in the video, Super Metroid is a game they probably won’t want to touch since everyone sees it in such a high regard and it’s already on base NSO. Fusion not only is a very deviceive game but is only available on the expansion pack, which less people have. Also Fusion is a prequel to Dread, so a Fusion remake is more likely imo

@@PixelPikmin RE4 fans thought the same but the controls are a bit outdated to play and the design can rework too. Nintendo is gonna do that either way in the future with switch 2 since the first two Metroids are remade and I doubt they’ll skip to Fusion.

My dream, and I am not hopeful, would be two double packs in the Dread engine, first of Zero Mission & Samus Returns and then later Super & Fusion. I would set it up as it starts from Samus escaping ZDR and then recapping her previous missions. They could add more context cut scenes in there too. The reason I would advocate for double packs would be the fact people like deals and if they want more people to get into the series give them an incentive to take a chance on it, give them a deal. (I would reveal the trailer for the 1st set and then at the end say Super and Fusion are in development)

We will see a samus returns remake, I think it makes total sense for switch right now. But also your point about zero mission is interesting, it isn't on nso. That could very well be the game we are going to get also!

Oh please I seriously doubt we're getting another new 2D Metroid game anytime soon, maybe a HD version of Metroid Samus Returns for the Switch with Fusion mode and all the other Amiibo blocked content unlockable without the need for Amiibos, but a brand new 2D game Metroid game not likely since Metroid Dread was only released less then two years ago.

No more bloody 2d games, it's 2024 not 1994. Give us Metroid Prime 4 and if not then either Metroid Prime 2 or 3 remastered (preferably both!)

The more Metroid the better, it's just a different style. Zelda does the same thing. So does Mario. There are lots of new 2D style games on all platforms.
