If that's the "thinking" of MY Manager, they'll be my EX-Manager REALLY frigging quick... If I owned a Restaurant, I'd tell ALL my Manglement Staff that we have redundant equipment (2 Ice Machines, 2 Fryers etc.) for a reason and when one fails, THAT'S THE TIME TO CALL THE REPAIR TECH... Waiting until both fail before calling the Repair Techs WILL get you Fired FOR CAUSE!!! Not only would I tell them that during Training, but it'll also be written down in the Policy Manual too... Another Policy I'd have is Preventative Maintenance is the BEST way to save money/cut costs...keeping the equipment (especially the roof mounted A/C's & Exhaust Fans) clean and in good working order is the best possible way to prevent expensive downtime/repairs due to broken equipment so the first time ANYONE cheeps out on PM to "Save Money" to the last time they work for me...Cheeping out on PM is also a Fireable Offense...and I don't care if you've never had a verbal or written warning before, make either mistake and it's strike one, you're out!

Nothing wrong with talking to yourself - heck it's even encouraged sometimes. Pilots are encouraged or even required to speak out loud the steps they are going through, and it's not just for the sake of verification/communication. There are many studies showing that so called "self-explaining" is very effective.

I will add to this, when looking at the display board from behind (installed on touchpad) jumper pin 3 and 6. I used a piece of strand wire bent into a u shape with a few strands pulled out to accommodate the pins. Sucks having to do it but they need ice and I don't have a display on hand yet.

I've replaced probably 15 of those touch pads in the last year. The buttons simply stop working. Same with those fan cycle switches, they exist primarily to keep the discharge pressure high enough during harvest, but the tiny switch inside it just can't handle the load of the fan. What I normally do is wire the fan through a real relay, and switch the relay with the fan cycle control. There's a brand that starts with H, and they make a far superior ice machine.

The low head pressure on these Manitowocs on harvest is by design. They call it a CVD, or Cool Vapor Defrost. "To make hot gas systems work, the compressor must be as physically close to the ice making evaporator as possible. This also means the noise from the compressor is always concentrated at the ice making part of the system. This is not something you want in a customer environment. Manitowoc CVD ice machines use vapor refrigerant from the receiver tank to harvest the ice." -- from Manitowoc literature

The ice thickness sensor on the Indigo machines isn't really a sensor. It's a microphone, and that's what its showing you on the control board the 'volume' of 100hz, and 120hz noise of the water trickling is what it's picking up. Be careful while running these machines with the covers off, I've had issues trying to troubleshoot something with the front panel off, and they have a radio or bluetooth speaker in the kitchen playing music extremely loud. Very loud music can mess it up. If all the covers are on the machine, it's good enough sound proofing, and doesn't seem to bother anything. Not much of an issue, but if you're working on one of these machines, tell them to keep the music down. Saves you two headaches, one from 'long freeze' and the other from the 90+ dB of loud music.... :D Keep up the good work.

@dylanmovchan61392 жыл бұрын
Yes they pump air into a pinhole on the evaporator and help push the slab of ice down. If you have two pumps and one is working you can take the air line from the bad pump and install it on one side of the good pump. Use a 10-32 or 10-24 machine screw to block the open air line ports and the one pump can feed both evap ports. Harvest when I tested this was within 2-3 minutes. Also check machine level and make sure that the evap is sloped downward if possible
