It could easily be lead poisoning. There's a huge epidemic right now with lead right now our avian community is not doing very good because of buckshot because of ammunition that's made of lead. I can't believe anything still made of lead that is so toxic. I just don't. I'm worried about the parents now. I don't know why the parents are exhibiting these behaviors as well. I think they need to check on the parents after the necropsy comes back.

Oh, sweet babies. A tiny eagle has only a 50% chance of survival in the wild today. For two babies to live for 40+ days is really something; the sudden, dramatic ending of both lives is devastating. Nature rules in the wild; often in ways that are difficult to understand 😢❤
@gungho12848 күн бұрын
I'm usually too afraid to watch them as small hatchling babies, but when they reach the size they were at now, it's usually smooth sailing in this climate. I've seen freezing rain and extreme heat kill other eaglets of this size. But that still leaves poison or disease, I guess. Or internal obstruction.

Poison takes up to a 2 weeks to kill, while avian flu takes a few days at most. They ate a duck and died shortly after. Ducks and Geese are major carriers of this illness. I'm concerned it might make the horses sick since they are walking and eating in the same area. Tigers and house cats are dying from this illness in Seattle and Oregon.

The mom, F23, and dad M15, was perching on the limb above, overlooking the nest below, when E25 started having seizures, and eventually falling out the nest. The cam was going back and forth shoeing E25 and the parents, then focused on F23, her head bent over, gagging some liquid and vomit. That was concerning. After that she flew down to the pond and took some drinks. I hope the vets check out the parents. as they were feeding the eaglets, they ate bits of the same foods

It's either lead poisoning or pesticides. I'm almost for sure it's lead poisoning, I highly doubt someone poisoned used rat poisoning because the parents are fine. I think that they should probably examine the parents if the necropsy comes up as pesticides or lead, though because there is a way of saving these birds, if there are poisoned which is weird though because you would think that the parents would be exhibiting these traits aswell

This was so sudden and sad. I saw the video of them both when they went and it just happened so suddenly. E25 was asleep and fine and then suddenly woke up seizing and we know what happened from there. From what I've read by other people, supposedly F23 got ill and vomited then was unsteady and either on a low branch or on the ground about the time E25s body was recovered. Shes ok now though both her and M15 are confused and grieving in their own way and yes animals are capable of grieving. I also saw someone else mention that M15 had caught a large catfish out of a lake that is known to have submerged vehicles snd other questionable debris from the hurricanes in it. And that was the last thing everyone ate before this all started. I'm in a few groups on Facebook about this nest and others in general and just relaying what I saw others have said but it does raise questions about that last meal. CROW is still watching the parents snd today neither were at the nest but perching off camera. They were flying around a bit and both were being pretty vocal. Both look to be physically ok so thats a relief. I hope it stays that way. I personally think it was rodenticide that did this or something toxic in that fish but only the necropsies can give the answer.
