SUGGESTION: You should take a stroller for the baby when you go into town. It would make it easier on you and Grandpa. That way, when she gets sleepy, she is already in place. Get one with a top on it so if it rains, she'll be covered.

I am sorry to see that the family are unwell and need to all visit the hospital.
