This is a unique weird drill machine restoration, i am very sure someone made this change because he was tired to tighten the bottle caps.I found this unique tool at flea marke somewhere at country and cost me 10 euro.
This drill is still functional but i realy don't know how it work...maybe you can tell me.I don't know the year was made but look like something from 70's 80's for me, what do you think?
I hope you like it this restoration, if you want to send me someting to restore please let a comment.

Ahh, its used in wineries to wind metal tops onto wine bottles one-at-a-time. Maybe also used in microbreweries where the owners don't have the budget to upgrade to more sophisticated bottling machinery. Great restoration, but I would have liked to have seen it in action on a wine bottle or two just to see how effective it is.

"What is this thing?" A starter cap, used to save the windings of the motor from burning up when it has to continually start under load. Inductive loads like motors and fluorescent light ballasts create a state where the voltage peak in phase will lead the current by a number of degrees. This can create a state where in the windings of the motor, there is high current but no voltage, overheating the motor. The capacitor brings the motor into balance, particularly when starting up under load, as this device would. A drill typically does not start under load, so this modification was done to extend the life of the adapted motor.

its for capping champagne bottles wit 26 mm caps. before the champange gets its permanent cork, they put the bottle upside down to get all the yeast in the bottleneck. after thats done they freeze the bottleneck and pop the cap. and with it the yeast comes out get the permanent champagne cork. in short.

I notice a possible problem when putting the rubber fingers back together at the end. If you look at the order that they are in before you disassembled the working end of the tool the rubber fingers are alternating in orientation to each other. look at 00:17 and then 17:43, doesn't take away from the great project video. I always learn new tips about restorations watching you work. thanks.

Nice bottle cap tightener! Funny looking thing... One remark, you shouldn't have greased the axle where it goes into the bearing on the back end. It shouldn't rotate inside it, so the interference fit is required! Otherwise as the bearing is getting older/dirtier and is turning with more resistance, the axle might slip and slowly grind itself a new, smaller diameter. I know that this thing might not get any use from now on, but it is a good thing to remember when you are renovating other machines. Well, just one more thing: when "pressing in" (you were hammering it) bearings, you have to put something (e.g. a tube) on the outer ring so as not to stress the balls and the rolling surfaces inside it. Best is to use a restored precision press... where have I seen one? :)

The green thing is a motor Run Capacitor (condensateur)it alters the sine wave of the AC currentit and energizes the secondary coil before the primary coil which makes the armature turn. If your motor stays still and buzzes, but turns when the armature is given a little push, your capacitor needs replacing. This is common in clothes dryers, domestic appliances erc I saw in one of your videos that you had to push your bench grinder to get it running, you should replace the motor Run Capacitor

I remember these from old days the aluminum cases when the isolator bearing on the shaft would go bad it would ground out and electrocute the hell out of you lol which does date it to late 70s by 80s they were all plastic case for this reason lol you three elastomer bands are for holding the rods tight to help the rubber nubs grip the caps to cap as well as crimp ! I geuss they also had to account for it grabbing a finger or two while you were working! Could be 2 and 3 reason it was broke when it one exploded under pressure.. two grabbed a finger or three electrocuted them n they tossed or 4 all of the above lol

I watched the whole video with tremendous curiosity: What the hell is this? The video ended and I formulated some hypotheses: a) must be a non-drilling drill b) can be something that is nothing c) maybe this is a doer of things d) a stolen weapon from Ming the Merciless

It's a bottle cap roller. You pack your liquid, but a blank cap on top the bottle (it's slightly open or completely flat, both variants with that pleated edge, the flat kind being for industrial machines) and then you apply pressure until it seats, and you start the drill. The rollers inside will then go over the lip and progressively tighten it as you press even more (you can't fully press it until the cap is tightened unto the glass lip, because the rollers won't allow it). Pretty simple device.
