Thank you The Print for highlighting this menace of old non-flowing plastic bottled water. Plastic bottles becomes one of the main cause of huge trash in urban scene. We all should discourage this plastic adulteration.

Govt. should spend time and effort in spreading awareness of reading labels. Labels should also be printed in English, in Hindi or local language to get more coverage.

BIS standards are a joke. BIS specifies some treatment processes and demands addition of chemicals ( no requirement for that to be food grade). Its inspectors have no clue about food microbiology or GMP . FSSAI is more professional in its approach because it has a few qualified food professionals. The guy defending BIS does not seem to have any understanding of the subject and sounds a professional bureaucrat rather than someone who understands food safety

Surprise investigation is a must not provided by owner of industries and sitting comfortablely test and providing BIS certificate furthermore main promematic is curruption in india please2 whatever don't especially in food industries, my advice is to provide water and vegetables from hilly districts specially from northeast is a must
