Can You Beat Baldur's Gate 3 using NOTHING But Summons? Act 2

Well, here it is. Still a fun run, but definitely getting a bit annoying with the amount of actions and load times.
Cannot imagine Act 3 getting any better, but I will make my way through it, mark my words.

A trick to killing zrell is that once you originally talk to her when first entering moonrise, she goes to her room that only her and 1 floating eye see. If you kill the eye, she usually doesnt notice, so just close the door and kill her while she has no help and is suprised. Helped my honour run so thought I'd share.

There's an ogre in the room with her. That being said, you can convince her to blow up the ogre's head and it's still better to fight her in there. Personally I found her biggest annoyance was using counterspell, as long as it's just her and possibly the ogre it's much less of a problem.

​@@jotarokujo3603When you first talk to Zrell, you can ask her to demonstrate her powers. She, for some reason, decides that killing the ogre is a good display of force. Do that and it'll just be Zrell and the eye

On my honor run, I used friend on her and I was 2 room away when it ends and agro the other eye (the one in front of ketheric room). The eye turn hostile, but the guard didn't for some reason they become temporary allies. And then Z'rell start attacking other guard and they killed her. I was hiding in Balthazar room hiding, thinking what just happened. And then proceed to do guerilla against the guard.

You can actually heal undead summons directly, unless it was recently patched. I've not played for a month but in my last session I found out that summons have an inventory when directly controlled, and you can pick up dropped potions and drink from the inventory menu. I tested it with bulette and a minotaur which glut resurrected, and then tried it with Connor and a generic raised zombie. Elixirs also worked, and I gave bulette a colossus potion which was hilarious! Definitely give it a try and see if it works.

Ngl I was inspired by the dryad to try to make a druid like that, so my drow druid currently has 16 of strenght, so I can just boost my quaterstaff to hit my foes to death with, very hilarious. XD Legit kind of op in just the first level alone, I got the flaming sword from the Nautiloid easily just by repeatedly bonking him on the head, and I plan on only use summons for long distance and my quaterstaff for close combat.

I'm currently playing a necromancer wizard in act 3 and my summons stomp every encounter. Currently it's just 4 flying ghouls and the 5 you get from danse macabre. I use the abyss beckoners you get from the zhentarim hideout in act 1 as the only summons in the game who are completely immune to demonspirit madness are the flying ghouls and the danse macabre ones. I believe this is because flying ghouls would act weird while under madness and the danse macabre ones aren't directly controlled, but just follow you around. The deva does have a very high wisdom save and can pass this check frequently but they like to fail it at the worst time unless you give them heroes feast. The ghouls and flying ghouls with resistance to everything except psychic are sporting an effective health of ~160 with aid and heroes feast, with the flying ghouls healing off prone/sleeping targets for half their health every turn. The only problem with this build is steel watchers are immune to prone so if you wanna try this to cut down on the amount of summons, find a way to deal with the foundry first.

Not any kind of criticism, just a fun fact - Dame Aylin's name is actually just Aylin. Dame is a title, like sir (it's the female equivilent of being knighted, at least in the UK). undead creatures can be healed by using aid (which increases max HP and adds the value to your hp) casting aid again reduces the max hp (leaves your normal hp at the same spot it was as long it doesnt exteed your max) and adds the max hp with the healed amount again feel free to heal undead and credit me :D

Just finished a spore Druid play through. Consider a 8 Spore Druid/1 Wizard/3 Cleric build. This allows you to summon Major Elemental and Deva from scrolls and still cast aid yourself! This is on top of your Druid summons!

As he said in the video, Connor gets to hit immediatly after getting summoned if the turn order is right. And it doesn't cost anything to the caster to summon him, so you can do it an infinite ammount of times. Connor would end every fight in round one. It would be easy and tedious as fk. And at some point, something would actualy not be able to be damaged by Connor anyway.

So, the reason why you're having loading issues is due to how the game handles summons & the fact that you're re-summoning quite often. See, apparently every time you summon a creature into the game, it creates multiple database entries for that particular instance of that creature in the save. But if that creature dies, disappears, is re-summoned, etc, those entries aren't erased; they're just... there, in your save, forever. And the game itself has no way to go through your file & remove these now-garbage entries, so each time you summon something you're just adding even more to the pile. So basically you quite literally are bloating your save file with garbage data as you're playing this run, hence the increased loading times. Only reason I know this is because I looked into potentially modding my game. Long story short there's a highly recommended mod that basically does clean-up work on those garbage entries on one's save file that I cribbed the above explanation from. Thankfully the mod's author has received a human reply from Larian, so here's hoping they get this resolved in the next patch, since apparently patch 6 may have made the issue worse?

Easy way to cheese moonrise is using a strength buff, you can pick enemies up with improvised weapon then drag them through fast travel while you’re moving

Fun fact. You CAN heal Kar'niss. The Aid spell heals him for 5 every use. It isn't over-lapped by subsequent casts. The max health does not stack but the current health DOES.

one VERY GOOD undead in act 3 is the custom Death Shepert in the graveyard, it has 'necrotic veil' , wich gives it 20 temporary hp every turn, and while it has the temp. hp, grants it and allys resistance to all damage, a true must have as Offbreeker also, undead "can" be healed, with 'aid', so you coullldd heal it up with aid, then long rest and control it again, fully healed also also, the moonrise fight is much easyer when you fight in the prison. the scrieing eye will alert guards from the top tower, without turning the acual tower hostile, this can be done until almost all guards are dead, but the tower is still not hostile to you

One thing I would've most certainly tried was to use Command/Exhort The Risen on the Apostle to drop its weapon, gets rid of the huge aoe swipe and I think its ability to use Call of the Damned? Not entirely sure on that part but I think I remember that it never used it after I disarmed it

1. If you let Balthazar fight alone and just don't participate (just hide somewhere), they will kill each other and you will have a much easier fight. I usually just let them fight, and when I see one side is about to win I come in and balance the odds 2. You don't even have to convince Yurgir. You can just go kill the rat dark justicier and Yurgir will go away after a brief conversation with you and Rafael, with no rolling needed

so you can heal undead, including Karniss, but only the Aid spell works. The aid spell increases your max hp yes but it also heals by the same amount.

Im sure you’re already well into recording the third part for this so you probably already know but I’ll drop a tip anyway for others looking to try this run. Heroes Feast and Aid stack, for the low cost of a sixth and a fifth level slot, your team will have: +25 HP from Aid at fifth level +12 HP, advantage on wisdom saving throws, and cant be poisoned, diseased, or frightened I think you may be able to Spellcrux Aid at a sixth level instead of fifth but I don’t know if that’ll make them no longer stack, I haven’t tried it.

There is a way to heal the undead, cast spam aid WILL heal undead creatures, a thing I did is control undead a spectator I had die to the curse then controlled it. Everytime I long rested to heal it through aid I just put on the dex gloves to slget higher initiative than it so I could re-control it. I had a pet spectator for all of act 2

Im a big fan of Azer. Just an fyi, Azer is wielding a weapon. So giving him buffs like enlarge will buff his damage, or you can coat his weapon with a poison or oil. Certainly not as mobile as the fly boys, but can definitely do some good stuff.

Man, if only you had done this run before they patched Armour of the Sporekeeper. Summoner builds used to be one of the strongest builds in the game. Still technically are, you just cant Haste your entire army every single battle anymore so it no longer feels totally busted.

In the Mind Flayer colony near the pods, interacting with the button you can purge everything giving you all the exp for killing them, easy xp if you don't care about murdering some tieflings. Hope this helps for the future as thats missed XP!!
