I have this chair. Though it IS extremely low, it's probably the most comfortable chair in the house, so I'm hard pressed to mess with it. I've always wished was higher and swiveled. My "boudoir" is carpeted so it's really hard to scoot up and out from my vanity. The pressure it's putting on the frame can't be good either. Now I just need to figure out how to make that happen, though I'm sure there are factors involved that I haven't considered....🥴 There MUST be a video somewhere on how to add one of those spin to adjust the height, swivel bases to a stationary chair. In a perfect world, I can figure out how to do this without cutting her legs off😂

How old is the tack hammer you used at 8:30 into the video? Is the small head magnetized? Oh, and the work you do is amazing. Your knowledge base is phenomenal. And yes, it's a beauty.

Sorry, this slipped by me days ago. The hammer is probably around 25 years old. Magnetized on the small end. These hammers can be bought with a nylon tip for brass nails. Save your money as they also soften the blow. I tried one and didn't like it.

@@Buckminsterupholstery I inherited a 70 year old tack hammer exactly like yours. My grandparents bought and used it during the early 1950's. They said back then it was common practice for people to reupholster their own furniture. The magnetized end will still pick up a tack and hold it for placing a tack. I try to use the hammer for small work which won't harm it.

Excellent work. Thanks for the video demo. May I inquire about the name of the tool you used for snipping the release triangle on the cardboard strip? I haven’t seen that tool in any of the upholstery supplies shops, it really is a neat tool.

The tool is for notching sheet metal. My son gave it to me when he left the heating and air conditioning trade.

Thank you for another excellent tutorial...It certainly is a beauty...I would of never thought to use that heavy of fabric on such a delicate chair, but I love it💗💕 Did you learn the basics of your upholstery skills from a mentor and apprentice under him or her? Do you think you would ever do video or virtual instruction to modestly trained students....I would love to be first in line....(just a thought)🙃

I took a basic upholstery course at an area college in 1975. Less than 100 classroom hours.I reupholstered a 1950's platform rocker and that was all of the formal training I've had. The rest of what you see in my work I learned on my own. Zero schooling in traditional upholstery.
