The best description I've seen for a simple no fuss solid channel router. Thanks so much

FAN-DAM-TASTIC!! Thanks Ken.... and I just happen to have a couple 100# ball-bearing drawer glides left over from a tool chest I made a few years ago. I've been hanging on to them thinking I might put a drawer under my workbench... not now LOL. My body template is on the way, and I'm hitting up my wood supplier later this week for the maple. I did see the one that Stew-Mac sells, but wasn't about to spend that kind of money for what will be a 1-off build (or maybe 2-3) I have a bunch of scrap steel angle in my bin. I think I might fire up the welder and build the main framework out of that, then use a piece of melamine board for the work table surface. I like to tinker with stuff, and for this, the only thing I'll need to purchase is a couple springs for the counter-weight function. if I can ever get my computer to load from my camcorder, I'll do a vid. Huge thanks :)

Good savings using some ingenuity, inexpensive materials, and a little labor to build your own router jig.

That is freakin genius man, I've been wanting to add binding to an Ibanez RG7321 but was absolutely stuck on how I was gonna route around the arm contour.
@BoudreauGuitars6 жыл бұрын
Andrew Wukusick , cool let me know if you built one of these jigs and how your binding comes out. Thanks for checking it out. 🤘

Do you have plans you would like to sell? I'm trying to figure out how to trim off fabric(snake skin) that's hardened up from clear simtec polyester and add a rout for binding but the arm relief(on a Jackson DK2 body) stops me from starting that project...

Its not clear to me why the "ball" is necessary. Is it that if provide less friction allowing the bit to move more easily along the contour?

Awesome build! How is the router attached to the platform? Also, how did you connect that platform to the drawer slides? It looks like you used bolts, but I can't quite tell from the video.

What source can you point me to for the black ball you cut in half and drilled through for the rub guide?
@BoudreauGuitars4 жыл бұрын
Ha, It came from a wheel on an old office chair !

@BoudreauGuitars7 жыл бұрын
uberaxe guitars , I think it was a foot from a piece of furniture I'm not really sure.

What is the "Ball" made out of or what did you use for that? It's an excellent jig!
@BoudreauGuitars8 жыл бұрын
Brad Haefner it might have been a caster from an old office chair, but I really can't remember, sorry.
