Just some advice in the future,from an old time garage sale hunter. Even after you both agree on the price,never appear too excited when it comes to jewelry,or coins. Believe it or not,some sellers actually change their mind by pretending they accidently put the wrong stuff out. I'm always friendly,but I never show any excitement,even after the deal has been made.

Nice haul! Garage sales are one of the best places to pick up valuable coins at a decent price. I go to the bank before the holidays to buy rolls that people turn in to get money for Christmas gifts. I picked up fifteen rolls of halves this morning. There were four rolls marked with dates on the roll paper and I checked them first. The first roll were Kennedy's from 1964 (all 20 coins) and in mint condition. The second roll was mixed pre 1970 Kennedy's and Franklin Halves. The third roll contained Walking Liberty's with Frankin Halves and the fourth roll was all pre-1970 Kennedy's. Been doing this for years but this is the best haul I have ever gotten.

+silverpicker the yellow seal silver certificate is an United States Military occupation in North Africa emergency printing. They are worth quite a bit more than common silver certs. They're not worth as much as the Hawaii emergency notes but they're still somewhat rare. The one you have is worth between $15 and $30 in that condition as long as there's no writing or tears. Very nice find for $100. 🤑👍🏻
@MickeyKraut419

The silver weight just from the Roosevelt dimes was easily enough to break even. the Morgan and Peace can fetch $25-35 each, more than what their silver weight currently is, but also nice to have... I'd keep them, too. I have an affinity for the old Morgans. In addition to that, completing a full set of the Walking Liberty halves is worth while... even in fair circulated condition a full set by date runs around $500 (MS 6) up towards $1,800 (MS 20), you can add about 6-10 times the value building out a full set of dates and mints. Neat piece of history to own if you're like me. The real jackpot in all that was the Silver Certificates, especially the 1935s. While not in Mint condition, they're still in pretty good shape, and the Yellow seals are fairly rare, only 144,000 were printed. In fair condition, circulated Yellow Seals from 1935A average around $150. If it's good enough to get a midgrade rating circulated it can bring upwards of $450-500. The blue seal will still fetch about $25 in it's condition. All this stuff for $100... that's a steal.

my great great grandpa spaired alot of coins and at his time in 1898(he was 11) he had a penny from 1898 so he said he wanted to make this coin special so he gave the penny to his children and then the childrens children and then the childrens children which is me and i still have the penny (i know the penny is worth alot and i can sell it but i wont)just waiting tell i have children and when they become 5 i well give them the penny (the penny is worth over 50 dollars) but i well always keep it and my great great grandpa is dead but he left a note with the penny saying "i hope 1 day this penny well be worth alot and children or my great grandchildren or higher i want you to keep this penny safe i well all ready have died and i want you to be the one to make this penny special" i cry every time i read it cause i know my great great grandpa just there watching over me with the penny just there saying "thank you for making my wish come true" OMG im crying now :(

If it has absolutely zero defects or imperfections it would be around $100

My grandma she comes from Mexico and she came to USA in 1948 and when I was cleaning her closet I found a 1922 gold certificate $20 dollar bill and a1914 $20 dollar bill and some sliver half dollar coins with Benjamin Franklin on the half dollar and she had 22x 1928 $2 dollar bills that's $44 dollars in $2 dollar bills she also had a 1934 silver certificate $10 dollar bill and 3x 1934 $100 dollar bills she also had 7x 1953 $2 dollar bills and 12x 1953 silver certificate $5 and 4x 1963 $5 dollar bills and $300 dollars in 1963 $2 dollar bills and she has a 1934 $20 dollar bill Hawaii note and she kept all of her money in one of her books that she brought from Mexico and the book is very very very big and weights a lot and she also has old Mexican money and coins a lot of Mexicans coins ...my grandma told me that she remembers that there was $500 $1,000 $5,000 $10,000 dollar bills my grandma told me one time my grandma got paid a $1,000 dollar bill back in 1953 I told her did you save it (in Spanish)and she said no and I said noooo! my grandma said that there going out of circulation in the year 1969 and I had to pay stuff and I said oh okay so .....but I hit the jackpot in her closet all the old money that my grandma saved from 1948 and now!

The $500, $1000, $5000 and $10,000 bills are STILL legal tender, and they are all worth more than their face value as collector's items. The latter two are usually worth 10x or more their face value because there are only a few hundred of each still left. All four of these denominations were pulled out of circulation by the Federal Reserve Banks starting in 1969, but as stated above they are still legal tender. One can find $500 and $1000 bills quite easily on eBay and at money shows for about twice their face value (so effectively they are less expensive than in 1969 due to inflation), but generally only very large shows and sometimes eBay will have $5000 and $10,000 bills which are reasonable investments because of their rarity. By the way, that 1922 $20 gold certificate is a very impressive bill which looks like a giant version of the smaller 1928 to 1990s issues with an orange back (but Washington as the portrait instead of Jackson). There are a lot of other interesting bills mentioned here. I wish I could go back in time a few decades and be a bank teller so I could see all the interesting old bills that were in circulation. Even in the early 1960s there were a lot of older bills such as the 1934 series.

Your yellow seal silver certificate is a North Africa note issued for circulation there during WWII. The thought was that if the Axis overran the Allies there this currency could be easily disavowed. At the time these could not circulate here. After the war that changed. The US issued brown seal Hawaii notes for the same purpose in Hawaii. Nice catch!

The 1935 Series A Yellow Seal can bring $150 in that condition... add in the silver weight of 70+ Eisenhower dimes... you're already at $225. The Blue seal Series D can get him another $25-50. The Morgan and Peace dollars each about $25. The Walking Liberty Halves, about $7.50 a piece silver weight. He's easily sitting on $400-500 profit, without even adding in the jewelry yet.

In 1920 Britain reduced the % of silver but it became 50% so still some silver in it... the Yellow seal North Africa was produced in $5 too... they were used to pay soldiers in the war so that if the money fell into German hands it could be cancelled.

I've been dealing in antiques, jewelry and coins for the past 50 years. I have owned three shops, traveled and set up at shows and swap meets in every state from Canada to Florida. I can't count how many thousands of sales and house calls I've been to, or how many customers have sold me items. I don't know where or what part of the garage sale fantasyland you shop in is, but in all my years of asking about my wants no-one has ever come up with the amount of treasures you seem to find. One more thing, whenever I shop at garage sales and they don't have a specific price set on any coin or precious metal, I always quote them spot price.

Its not oncommon to find coin collections sold like that. When you take them to a dealer and they only want to give you scrap value,then guys sell stuff like that. It may or may not be worth that much. I know a guy that aquired an entire coin collection of silver dollars,all dates three books all for $150 bucks,the guy only wanted drinking money,that was that. The sets were nice and I wish I could land a deal like that. the story was my friend frequented this bar and some guy came in,started drinking,needed more money so he went back to his house grabbed the coins and sold them to my friend. They were all in binders.Thats awesome. Find out what all that stuff is worth from a dealer,I dont think you did too bad. an ounce of silver is $18 right now,the dollars might be worth something,I really dont know. It depends on condition,how many coins were made of that type all that jazz. You could have one coin in there worth $100 all by its self.

+miamicanesfan01, that's a good point u make about the counterfeit money. it's not always Chinese doing it but they are probably the best at it. they actually make the cast die's and use a punch machine to make the coins. they will use plating techniques on the gold and silver ones to where only a true professional dealer can tell if their real or not. I'd give this advice to everyone; "before you pay big money for any collectibles being money or furniture anything you think might be worth a lot but their asking little for it, ask them if you can pay for it but you want the option to bring it back for a full refund if it's not exactly what they are saying it is. I've seen on t.v. where they said the Chinese are getting so good at counterfeiting money that some dealers can't even tell the fake from the real stuff til the melt it down. I would think any honest person would let you bring it back if it wasn't what they claim it to be. of course there has to be a way for them to protect themselves also, meaning you don't but the real stuff from them then come back a few days later with some counterfeit stuff and say it's what they sold you. don't be afraid of buying something at garage and yard sells you know is worth alot just because you think it might be fake see if they will let you find out if it's real or a guarantee of some kind because alot of good treasures have been from those sells. also. if you fill guilty paying so little for something you know for sure is worth so much more you can always go back and pay them more money once you find out its real. good luck and happy treasure hunting. it's out there

It gets even worse than that they have US Mint hub reduction equipment likely sold to Asia over a hundred years ago, The Treasury also has no interest at all in counterfeit numismatics. I guess they have bigger fish to fry. Off on a tangent some enterprising criminals figured out they could buy silver Mexican pesos melt them and make counterfeit Morgan dollars for a tidy profit. It was suspected the minting was done in Asia, The case was never solved, but get this since Mexico at the time was using 925 Silver and the Morgan was 900 Silver the counterfeits actually had a higher silver content than the real thing !

What does math have to do with knowing the worth of your material possessions?Well if you know math and do a little research he would have found that the silver coins are worth more than their face value.take that value times it by the number of coins he had and just like magic he would have the true value of his coinsSubtract the 100 bucks from that total and he would know how much money he got screwed out of.That is what math has to do with it you fucking hillbilly moron

When we vacation in the Caribbean and cruises, we always go to the bank before the trip and get at least $100 worth of crispy new $2 bills for tipping bartenders and other staff. They always remember you because they don`t see those as often. While vacationing in Dominican Republic, the staff went crazy for the $2 bills, and never had watered down drinks the whole trip.
