Might be just me but not a huge fan of the owner asking you for a price when you ask him how much he wants for it. Like he owns the business. Why should you have to ask him the price over and over. If he is selling, he needs to throw out a number, or price his stuff accordingly and then you come to a deal. Idk. That would have annoyed me personally.
@Will-qd2km Жыл бұрын
Glad someone else feels this way. Everything is s for sale but nothing has a price. Then when you do start talking I get the feeling like your trying to get one over. And $900 was no deal for that, just about what it's going for anywhere.

poor shop owner has a lot of money invested in a fools business. the retro games market is a scam ran by some kind of retard mafia. there is a lot of hype for these products but the hype is also very shaky. meaning its more of an emotional hype than something substantial like fine art. these people who collect these games can often decide their entire collection is stupid and not personally valuable to them anymore. its a very volatile market which could all potentially be made worthless in the blink of an eye

It's not awkward, the owner is just tired of youtubers coming in and pressing him for good deals on shit when he knows damn well they're just taking it back to sell it (game chasers).
@MikeTheGamer77 Жыл бұрын
@@thedadtris IT was definitely awkward. Who are you kidding?

@@MikeTheGamer77 It's not awkward, it's called being tired of lowballer game collectors trying to get all your good shit for nothing to take an resell it. Why should he give a deal to any of them when he knows damn well they are going to resell it? When I go to stores of people that I respect, I pay their full asking price. That keeps them in business and shows I'm not a scumbag trying to take advantage of them.
@bdww4072 Жыл бұрын
@@thedadtris your logic makes 0 sense. If he's tired of low ballers why doesn't he just set a price? How ass backwards is it to be tired of low ball offers but force your customer to make the first offer? You seem about as coherent as the store owner.

The comments are terrible these guys are great, love when the chasers visit them, this is the rebuild, he sold everything and missed it had to start over, they enjoy the haggle, at the end of the day they want to find out if you care enough, they'd rather keep the item than get ripped off, but if you're a good home you're walking away paying less. Great dudes.

Nah, even back then it was fairly bad. Nightmare black and red screen you had to adjust just so and have squashed up against your face was not very good and caused neck and back pain if you played for very long. The games weren’t better than what we had been a xoeriencing for years on our tvs in full colour and in the comfort of our lazyboys. I sold mine off years ago.

I remember i went in to a swap meet about 20 years ago, i was looking for N64 games and the seller i found was in a small warehouse which was part of the swap meet, he had all kinds of electronics, and as i was going through some n64 games he asked if i wanted to look at more games? and of course i said yes! He then led me to a back room that was around the size of 2 bedrooms and it was completely filled up to the ceiling in NES games, a lot of sealed ones. At the time game collecting NES was just starting so i was not really interested in collecting but just owning the ones i felt i liked or had attachment to, so i did manage to buy around 20 sealed nes games and some opened but with box and instructions since he was only asking around 1 dollar for each one. The guy then told me "hey give me 500 dlls and you can take them all, there are over 4000 games here." I was tempted but i would have needed about 4 truckloads to take them all so i obviously declined but man that was a chance of a lifetime.

Owner is the master old school bazaar haggler. He approached the sale in this order: The first mention of the close: "you get a pile up and well talk about it" This immediately makes the buyer start a larger pile without worrying of the sticker shock, and leading to a bigger sale. After that it was broken down like this: 1. "You tell me" 2. "What do you think" 3. "I wasn't planning on letting this go" 1. He has fished for basic information to get the best deal possible while at the same time seeming like it is nothing more than just a deal to him. Diffuse and fish. 2. See the absolute value of everything in the customers eyes. 3. Before the finality of the deal the owner preempts the buyers expectations with how he sees these to have a hefty value, and almost an inconvenience for him to sell, even after he made the whole transaction just seem like an open carefree thing in the very beginning. A total flip flop but genius. A+ On the old man selling this guy.

You tell me how much you want to pay for all of this. I don’t think this gentleman understands how retail works. If “I know what I got” was a video game store it’d be these characters. Too many years of raiding grandma’s basement for pennies and flipping for hundreds. And hey, that’s capitalism, I won’t fault them for that. The attitude is just a bit off putting for me.

When i was a kid my local mom and pop hobby store was a nightmare. No prices and anything and the guy literally didnt want to sell you anything. Followed you around the shop like a criminal. I was amused to read in the local paper that he was trying to fight the council if a compulsory purchase order and was asking for peoples support. He lost and the shop got knocked down. Me and a few friends enjoyed making a decent RC track on the soil what was left until the builders moved in a few months later.😂

I have something that came before all this , sitting on my shelf l...1982 GCE Vectrex with 6 games (1 of them is built in called Minesweeper. It was their version of Asteroids). The whole system has a self contained tv screen and a HUGE controller. The games are Vector based (think of the old school Battlezone) and color was supplied by plastic screen overlays lol. Doesnt seem to be much of an interest for old consoles in my area as I have had it for sale for over a year now lol
