I feel like Dead Space is definitely one of those series that would translate better to VR than most (looking at you Far Cry 3). In order to change the V-sync Value manually you must locate the settings.txt (show hidden files enabled) located at (User)\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\Dead Space\settings.txt. once open you can change the V-sync Value from 60 to 120 (or double your Monitors Refresh rate). By doing this you should have a proper 60fps with V-sync. So in settings.txt if the V-sync Value is 60, the game will run at 30, if the value is 120 it will run at 60fps, at 240 it will run at 120fps and so on. **Please Note** you will still have potential physics and wall glitches if you run the game over 60, the game was not designed to run higher** The game engine cuts the refresh rate in half whenever you enable V-sync so doubling it in the Settings.txt "Tricks" the game into thinking it cuts it in half. BUGS & STUTTERS BE GONE!! Hope this helps.

15:00 I just finally played through Dead Space for the first time and I almost immediately forgot about the locator. I played nearly the entire game without directions. Very rarely did I need to use the map but it was atrocious. But what stuck out to me is how I didn't need it. The ship seemed realistic enough and my objectives made clear enough that I could easily find my way around without getting lost at all. Near the end of the game I finally rediscovered the locator and I started using it quite a bit in the last two chapters. Way more than was necessary even though I probably already knew where i was going. So although it's a good feature for people who get lost easily it's also really tempting to abuse. Now that I'm on Dead Space 2 I've been using it to see the main path so I can avoid it and explore side areas first. Also similarly to the System Shock games and Resident Evil series I can still map out areas in my head well after having finished the game. Especially the early game chapters and the bridge. That's some good shit.

21:05 I love that death animation for the enemy, it really highlights the danger you could be in, if that thing had been a little quicker and the engine didn't kill it, you'd be fucked

Dead Space is an amazingly atmospheric game, however we are now 13 years past its original release date and it STILL has the same graphical bugs that kill the game during the first 15 minutes, during the turret boss fight section, and finally the final chapter dragging the Marker along for me after all this time. That this happens without fail, and requires the same solution everytime is still the only reason I go back to DS2 over the first any time I play the series.

the funny thing about the locator is that a lot of players actually rely on the indicated directions to not go there first and explore the other ways instead

I've been playing a ton of 'Prey' lately and never realized how many concepts were derived from Dead Space. Need more SP games like these

This was an amazing game. I'd say a must play for horror fans. The second game was equally amazing.

You described this game perfect with “Tense & Tension” .. I was also so tense playing this game waiting for the next creature to appear .. I always had my hun drawn walking around 99% of the time 😅

I had to click on this because of the title. There is nothing that EA cannot ruin. I repeat. There is nothing that EA cannot ruin.

Finally, someone who correctly refers to Dead Space as 'action-horror', rather than 'survival horror' (which it is not).

One of the best horror games of all time. When I played for the platinum, the plasma cutter only-run was actually the easiest. You unlock all the perks fast, get more ammo and get a lot better at aiming with it and you learn the flow of it. Like the amount of stopping power you need for which enemy. I felt very unstoppable.

This is the franchise that I will never forgive EA for ruining and then cancelling.

I’ve always loved the dead space franchise nice balance of horror and action that is the case for the one and two , three was to much action and the lore was hard to follow in the third game really enjoyed the first and second game didn’t like the third at all , also I enjoyed the animated movies and series surrounding the dead space series

Hi boulder punch I’m a relatively new fan and I watched your old videos on thief and how it had really good sound design I was wondering if you’ve played a game called hunt showdown it’s a multiplayer can that heavily relies on sound and being cautious I recommend it if you haven’t played it

Devs: The locator will keep people from exploring! Me: Locator says go left… okay, that means there’s something hidden to the right. *explores right*

Great job on this video, you earned yourself a new subscriber! Such an awesome game! I was 13 as it came out and I fucking loved it! Also scared the shit out of me, but in the best way. The limited hud, the gameplay relevant gore & dissmemberment, the gothic architecture of the ship. This is the type of game influencing people to get into game development (at least in my case :D) with great design and very competent execution. Just like they were inspired by the system shock series, I'm part of a generation inspired by dead space.
