I agree. This, Manhunt, Halo 2. Silent Hill 2, Its right before games got really good looking. They still look they are supposed to be fun. Actually Ratchet and Clank has held on to that ps2 magic a little bit.
@yoursonisold87439 ай бұрын
Or just have both. That's what these old games can't offer. They can be fun, but not look good (except for a couple of hyperstylized games). Modern games have the potential for both. But even then there is no excuse when MGS3 existed on the PS2. Truth is you nostalgia blind people just call anything you liked as a kid fun and then somehow make a nonsensical connection between graphics and fun game experiences yourself. Seriously, this nostalgic nonsense... PS2 games for the most part looked absolutely horrible. And before I hear any deflections about how cartoon graphics or the like looked always good, there are games right now with cartoon graphics or stylized artstyles which look far better than anything from the PS2 era without being hyper realistic too.
@savageshot37234 ай бұрын
Yeah I don't care too much about graphics as opposed to other variables in a game. A polished turd is still a turd. I try to get into the new games but they all seem so uninspired(for the most part, obviously there are exceptions and you shouldn't generalize and blah blah blah) and I keep coming back to the games of old. That was such a damn fun time 😊

The Suffering is indeed an underated classic horror games made by the defunct Midway. I mean Stan Winston designed the monsters in this game, and not to mentioned it has that Clive Barker vibes all over it. Weird that no one has ever did a remaster port of these games.

The Tommy Gun isn't really an odd choice when you consider the portion of the backstory where the island/jail/whichever (I don't remember off the top of my head) was used for bootlegging and mob activity back in Prohibition. It's implied or outright stated there were caches of guns and stuff left over from then.

Loved these games. Resident Evil and silent hill keep getting remakes left and right, so if they remade or even just remastered the suffering today it’s a safe bet it would do well. What would be great is if they did that and it revived the series with new entries. They can still do more with the premise they had if they wanted to. It sucks that the PC port is utter garbage. I went insane streaming this game a couple years ago 'cause the PC version breaks at several critical moments. I had to sequence break to start the warden boss fight (or whomever that is on the turret in the prison in the first game, it's warden, right?) I got stuck permanently then after because my companion needed to trigger certain events for me to move on and the triggers were just busted so I literally couldn't proceed forward. I wanted to get into this series so bad since it seems like something I would have LOVED as a kid having grown up playing Dead Rising, Dead Space, and other action-horror games. Your video is super good and was a nice revisit. I'm hoping to track down a set of console copies some day so I can finish both games myself. I own them on GoG, but I didn't wanna play "Ties That Bind" without beating the first game so they have sat collecting digital dust.
